Wizards won't let you use unique names in coverage anymore, so any deck that gets popular will be assigned a boring name by them to show on their graphics.

I run a list with both Back to Basics and Wasteland, and I really value the mana denial that both offer. People expect Back to Basics more often now since miracles has gotten popular again, but I still really like it - if I didn't want them, I would probably just be on deathblade.

After we get Azcanta online, we have already played a number of lands, fetched a few times (likely). I have not once, in dozens of matches, whiffed on an activation. There is always something in there. :]

EDIT: And to not double post.

I really recommend Geist in the 75, as probably a 2 of at least. I actually beat Dredge on his pressure yesterday, and its all that can keep you in the game against some decks, just by the pressure he applies.

Jund with BBE is still feeling super rough, but I'm not sure what we can do about that.

Oh and Bogles with main deck leyline is the most chicken 'please dont make me play magic' deck I have every faced. :p

I tend to board in cliques when I'm looking to pressure the opponent, since clique also offers disruption to slow them down. I'm not sure if I'd prefer geist in those SB slots since I like the flexibility that clique offers.

As far as leyline bogles goes, I know I won last time I played since cryptic tappings don't target. I also drew secure the wastes that game though, which is one of the best cards vs them if you save your counters for rancor and daybreak coronet. Also, EE is one hell of a card once we get to sideboarding.

I think the next two cards to be taken off the banned list are Green Sun's Zenith and Stoneforge Mystic

Both were almost immediately banned at the inception of the format

Green Sun will likely not homogenize all green decks around it. Chord of Calling, a card which can easily be compared to it, has certain advantages over Green Sun - instant speed, can grab a creature of any color, hits the graveyard (important for recursion with Eternal Witness). Eldritch Evolution, too, still has certain advantages to Green Sun.

Stoneforge Mystic should not homogenize all white decks, even though it does have a good chance to see play in Death and Taxes, Humans, Abzan, and Jeskai builds. More importantly, it should increase the playability of equipment in the format as a whole

I can't imagine GSZ being unbanned - that card is pretty insane at every point in the game. Part of why the unbanned BBE and Jace is that they are late threats, whereas GSZ is a very good play on t1; that combined with the extremely high flexibility that it offers leads me to believe that it really is too strong for modern.

If you were to take the list from GP Toronto ( https://magic.wizards.com/en/events/coverage/gptor18/gptor18-top-8-decklists-2018-02-11 ), I would probably start by cutting the Gideon and the Secure the Wastes for 2 JTMS.

I think that Jace ends up slotting in the deck, but I'm starting at a 2-of and I don't plan on ticking that up unless I really notice that I'm missing him more often.
I do think he's vastly better than Nahiri though, based on multiple reasons - higher average use case, doesn't require a maindeck brick to draw, etc.
I would also agree that people who are saying "Jaceless midrange is dead with Jace in the format" will be in for quite the surprise. I've played Jace in both standard (when RoE was the newest set) and now in legacy (in stoneblade) and I can't imagine he'll be better in modern than in legacy or even standard, based on how those formats are currently shaped.

The main thing this hurts is attendance to their website. Many people check the site daily to see new spoilers. This takes away those visitors, which in turn theoretically takes away revenue. It's understandable why they're upset about this.

    I'm going into college.
Race, to up my 1.5% native american up to 75%.
then 12.5% Irish and 12.5% Scottish
I've always wanted to be a Native American, as they are often overlooked as far as discrimination goes when their society had their way of life taken away in a matter of years. I'd like a perspective i've never been able to see from.

Tooth and nail is ancient. Terastodon is basically a liege of the tangle, coming so late that it doesn't even matter.

Hitting Curel Ultimatum's mana fixing in a limited game is pretty damn hard.

Capsize is from Tempest which is before Mirrodin block which was the last really imbalanced format where they clearly didn't know what they were doing (affinity and skullclamp instantly coming to mind).

Untamed might really doesn't belong in a format with infect. It makes things far too degenerate. Tainted strike is also quite sick as it should only give infect, NOT +1. A lot of the cards are just imbalanced.

And I am a 1900 rated limited player right now so if Phoenix rising is better than me he's not that much better. I lose my fair share of games but I don't mind when the player is clearly better than me (and there are pro-tour level players in my area) or their deck is clearly better designed. Infect is the ONLY time when a terrible 1500-rated player can get a win against me. It is a degenerate mechanic that is badly balanced and badly designed.

It is a huge favorite of casual players since it allows them to win more games than they normally would (which is 0). But that is the surest sign it is a terribly imbalanced mechanic.

1.) You're sort of an arrogant dick. I'm at (i think) 1890s and you or I can still lose to any deck, infect or not. Some "1500 scrub" could be passed the nuts and you lose, even if its not infect. I had that when they had more than 1 mimic vat :/.
2.) Infect is fairly balanced. I've done great in scars draft, which i do twice a week, while drafting infect only once, in which my deck had no untamed might.
3.) Infect loses when you trade, loses when you create tempo, and loses when you play removal. It's pretty easy as long as you aren't drafting 8 Volition Reins.dec. Even if you're in blue, just runn some bounce and they're pretty much screwed.
4.) Untamed Might is extremely easy to play around, especially when they telegraph it as most of them do. The only time i've ever lost to Untamed Might was when it was played on a Molder Beast in conjunction with a Tainted Strike.
5.) All of infect's creatures so far are puny and get crushed by any anti-infect cards, which should be taken akin to anti-metalcraft cards.
6.) Pretty much every post you'v made so far is "blah blah infect is b0rken they're ruining draft it's completely OP takes no skill" where the majority of the points are wrong. Playing infect in limited takes infinitely more skill that half of the standard decks nowadays.
7.) Casual players can often win limited games, especially where I play. Casual magic is probably the closest format to limited, and if they hit a vein of cards similar to strategies they're used to, they can come out victorious.

I'm sure i missed something, and i'm sure he'll respond to my rant with an even rantier rants reiterating some things previously said, but if you consider it, Infect is the same as other tight, highly synergistic decks. I think it's a nap to play with, but very interesting to play against, esp. if it's piloted by someone competent so there's an attempt at secrecy.

I'm the Packers owner, and I'm damn proud of them making it to the Super Bowl.
Now all we need to do is bring Both the offense and defense to the big game and we can do it.

    Or infect. That's pretty doable.
