    More information on Ixalan here.

So... pirates, scientifically accurate Dinosaurs, explorers and legendary cities. So... it's basically Road to Eldorado: The Block? I dig it.

Anyone think things would be better if most, if not all, of the stories for a block were written by one person, assuming said writer was good.

I hate to bring this up again but it needs to be said: no one is dying. At all. Since Origins only four characters with cards have died: Avacyn, Brisela, Kozilek, and Ulamog. That's all. Only antagonists. And no one at all in Kaladesh.

It honestly feels like these stories are being written for eight year olds who can't handle any of their favorite characters dying. As the story needed anything else to make it feel more like a superhero comic for children than a legitimate fantasy story.

If no one is killed by Bolas in Amonkhet, not a single named character, then I'm done with the story.
I've never really understood this stance. What long running serializations kill off characters with any regularity(besides GoT Way too many people die in that, it seems more for shock than plot most times)?

I don't want to sound rude or condescending I'm honestly curious because enough people here have voiced such an opinion that it leads me to believe that (semi-main or important side)characters do in fact die fairly often in other stories that I simply don't read. I'm open to the possibility that I don't expose myself to the proper sources but currently it just sounds ridiculous that no one goes about killing important characters with any regularity(besides that one) and a significant number of people expect it here.

If you just mean significant consequences like death then I can understand where you're coming from a bit better, but considering we're still on only the third story it still seems rather premature.

I find the whole 'we need a death to happen' thing doesn't really work with what MTG is: a game. Our characters are part game piece, part marketing.Killing them means they can't be printed in main sets.

I feel they still are fine tuning how to tell stories with the Gatewatch as our overarching focus. Battle and Shadows poorly handled new characters, both walker and lendgedary. I think with Kaladesh, we've gotten better stories with Yahenni, Rashmi, Kari. I hope they can find a balance between the long term plot and short term planar stories.

I wonder if Baan is going to be a recurring character, if not full on antagonist. If so I have to think he may taverse the Multiverse warning other walkers of the Gatewatch's marvelous ability to destablize things.

I wonder if Tezzeret ia under some sort of deadline? Can't wait to see the why he's doing these things.

Finally, a story! I love how things like scents and sounds are used to represent emontons. 90% sure we'll get a Yahenni card.

For like two seconds I imagined Jace chasing after Ral to stop him and have a cute moment.

I have some questions regarding Project Lightning Bug. So it allows Ral to see where planeswalkers are 'walking to, but can he only see planes he's aware of, which would mean planes that he has visited himself right? Or is the known-multiverse mapped out? Because that seems like a powerful tool. And that would make sense that Amonkhet, an uncharted realm, wouldn't show up.

Ah, all these years and the primary mode of travel between stories is still shrouded in mystery.

I take Ral's ability to trace where a Walkers going to as confirmation that planes have a location relative to others, like planets in our solar system.

If I remember correctly, Bolas retreated somewhere after he used Leshrac to seal the Madaran Rift, somewhere he was confidant would survive the end of the multiverse. I wonder of this hidden location is where Bolas went, be it his meditation realm or Amonket.

That was okay, I guess? The interesting things happened before and after the big showdown. Apparently Vraska was eaten by the Blind Eternities.

Or she might have walked to a plane that is being hidden by something or someone. My money is either on Bolas or Ob. Hell this coukd even be how they find Amonkhet.

Yeah I doubt they'd have Vraska just die like that. A plane hidden sounds like a cool idea.

How has nobody addressed the best part of today's story yet? And by that, I mean Shadowblayde. She's a quirky, female version of every unnecessarily edgy comic book character from the '80s, complete with ridiculous name and an excessive number of pouches on her outfit. If she doesn't have a card in Aether Revolt, I will be extremely disappointed.

More like a 90s comic book character, but yes she was fun. Hope she gets a card.

Maybe he'll be a void or shadow mage when we return to Kamigawa, in a proper set or in supplemental products

    Or a ninja.

The more interesting thing to me about the Elspeth story is it sounds like she grew up on a plane touched by Phyrexians.

    It was known:

    http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/feature/honor-bound-2009-05-07

Is there another Phyrexian stronghold out in the multiverse, maybe not as overrun as Mirrodin?

Yes. Old Phyrexia attacked or had sleeper agents in many planes, including Moag (my personal headcannon for Elspeth's home plane) and Mercadia.

Plus Karn with his tainted heart stone could have infected countless worlds.

This entire chapter confused me. Can anyone explain at which point in the timeline is the Ajani on Kamigawa taking place and what was going on with Tezzeret at that time?

It looks like six months ago Ajani went to Tamiyo's at some point after Elspeth's death on Theros, shortly before Tamiyo returned to Innistrad. There we learn that the events of Scars happened about two years prior and Agents of Artifice a year before that.

Five months ago, Ajani finds that Tezzeret is on Kaladesh and goes there, where he meets Mrs. Pashrir and she lets him crash on her couch.

So Ajani goes to visit Tamiyo but at this point Narset is also a planeswalker. Tezzeret and friends are burning villages in Kamigawa until Tezz gets killed and his body is claimed by Bolas. Then Tezz comes backs, kills some more folks and pisses Ajani off who then goes to Kaladesh to find him...and all of this is happening between OGW and SOI? That is not how I recall the timeline.
    Weird.
Then again it was a quick read...

No, Tezzeret burned the Nuzmui village three years ago, before the events of Scars of Mirodin. Given that Ajani goes to Kamigawa sometime after the events of Theros and here we learn that Narset has visited Tamiyo we can infer that Theros and Tarkir happen concurrently.
