I found one store selling them for 9.99, not bad, another was selling for 12.99! I believe the initial pricing I saw on this site weeks back was like $6-7, which is what the packs should be selling for. Many of the packs contain $2-5 rares, and the mythics in the set are the lottery everyone is paying for. 3.99 would be too low, but double that price and I feel you have fair market value. I can pay 3.99 for Dragon's Maze right now for a $50 mythic, so what is the difference? Voice of Resurgence will still hold high following rotation due to older formats using this card.

I would not say greed is pushing this, it is the price of the booster boxes being so high. WotC is already depressing the market for all but Dark Confidant and Goyf, and perhaps Cryptic Command and Vendilion Clique as well. Many of the other chase rares from other sets are seeing price depreciation already and MM just came out.

Isn't Rishadan Port also used a lot in EDH? $100 is not the settled price. Ebay still has auctions showing the price on the market has not yet reached a more determinable number for fair market value. My guess is that there was a large acquisition by someone somewhere. SCG is sold out at 49.99. So, my guess we will see Ports around 50-60 here in a short while when the market corrects.

Per Brainstorm and other draw cards in Legacy, this is where I see the upside on the card and why it is not over-costed; any less than 4cc then NT would be too powerful. But, for the reasons stated in the last two posts this is where I see NT being a possible main deck strategy for the right build as draw is used in so many Legacy decks out there. Otherwise, NT is a good side board card to stop other strategies relying on card advantage, not to mention anti-control which typically falls into the category of CA strategy.

In theory UB control makes sense for this card, and if you can get NT to stick on the board he becomes more than a deterrent on the board. I know a lot of testing will be needed, but I have to say I am excited for this card. Combo isn't the only way to go at any rate. I brought up Wheel and Deal and Prosperity to demonstrate how these current duds - although when Black Vise was legal the latter was not - can be extremely formidable strategies to use NT to end games given the right synergies within a UB or UBx build.

I would like to at least try some shenanigans with Notion Thief. It's a pure Johny card and I think there's some space to break it.

    Check these interactions:
    - Anvil of Bogardan: Against a player with an empty hand this is game.
    - Burning Inquiry: Ouch.
    - Jace Beleren

There is definitely some potential with Notion Thief. The thing is you have to maximize him when he lands due to how fragile he is, and I agree that UBx sounds like the best home. I was thinking there could be some use now for Prosperity and Wheel and Deal. Flash NT in during your opponent's turn, during yours net 8 cards for 3U or 6 cards for the same with Prosperity.

On the other side, he puts the brakes on your opponent's later game draw strategies. Yes, early game your opponent will net card advantage and the game will mean NT does nothing for you then.

NT definitely needs the right build, and my thoughts are to essentially build around him and test out whether you can turn the game with cards like those I mentioned above.

There is some real potential with this guy and Wheel and Deal. Has anyone been talking about this combo, especially for EDH, perhaps Legacy, and kitchen table madness??? Even when one on one, netting 8 cards at instant speed is crazy. I know everyone is talking about Reforge the Soul, but without the miracle you pay 5cc in a third color at sorcery speed.

Maybe this set will be a tribute to Legends.

I am wondering if Silence could be an answer. Play, Abrupt Decay et al. is stopped, then cast your pieces. Granted, this strategy will mean more mana than what your two piece combo needs. The problem is playing a U/W version or U/R/W version, which would be less consistency.

Legacy combo decks like ANT and variations on this combo deck have had huge success with Silence.

Electrolyze if only it was one less to play would be a nice answer to Ethersworn Canonist. Yet, with Paradise Mantle and two lands it would be playable - 10 lands makes it impractical.

However, silence can't be cast in response to stay off a spell. And so the set-up is a tricky one.

Any combo is only as good as you can protect it, and it needs to be consistent. So I was thinking Remand could be an option, but the extra mana will be far off with the land count being so low. Pact of Negation looks to be about the best option next to Apostle's Blessing. IDK but looks fun to test.

I bought a box of Fallen Empires a long time ago - you could have bought 100 and you still would have the same. First box I ever bought, was this. Then I purchased a box of Ice Age, and well, I was thinking the game was coming to an end back then.

Hey Guys! I took down a big local event (40+ people) with my reanimator deck yesterday, and won myself a shiney new Tundra! I figured I'd post up a decklist for anyone who is interested:

It was a great tornament overall, only dropping one round in the swiss to a talented Esperblade player (who I rematched in the quarter finals). Overall, I'm not sure I would make any immediate changes. Gitaxian probe was an allstar all day long.

The icing on the cake was listening to my finals opponent nerd rage about how I should never play reanimator in this meta, and how bad gitaxian probe and cabal therapy are in reanimator (mind you, I just used them to strip his had of surgical extraction, x2 high tides, and Fow by turn 2).

I could not recomend this deck more right now. There is very little hate out there aside from MB Deathrite Shamans, which give people a false sense of overconfidence when facing powerful grave yard strategies.

If anyone has any questions, I'd love to answer them!

I just built my reanimator deck and have all but some of the creatures on your list. I have to say that your deck list appears to be solid. DRS may be an obstacle for the deck, but with Show and Tell you can work around graveyard hate at any rate.

I am impressed with your results. Keep us posted on future tournament results.

Thanks for the assist. It is just CCGhouse, but the higher end at any rate.

Sinkhole always will have some upside as it is land destruction for 2cc and is unlimited/beta/alpha print.

It looks like duals are on the move again. Look at Underground Sea Revised. It is reaching $200 on the high end. It looks like Jund is lifting the lower priced duals as well.

Also, is Spellskite seeing any play in Legacy? Modern is giving the push right now - not sure if now is a good time to pick up as prices have not settled. It looks good at around $6-7 for a potential Legacy sideboard pick unless some deck I am not aware of is main-decking this.

Unmask? Any thoughts here. I was thinking this one in builds with Gris-storm or 4x Gris, and more heavy on the B.

I respect everyone's opinion here but I think the issue is being looked at the wrong way by some as far as using just price metrics as a reason a format will eventually die. Vintage is not dead, it just has lost popularity and practicability to play ubiquitously as say Standard. Legacy is not as pervasive as Standard, for sure. But it has its own niche and following. Now, the strength of the player base and the availability of the cards in a market where people are willing to purchase them for a "no-ceiling price" is a more realistic perspective. If people want to play and pay, a format survives. Vintage was not able to find enough people to want to do either of these. Yet, the format has become something of a pocketed diaspora of players world-wide, especially in Europe, but in many larger urban areas in the U.S. and elsewhere.

Legacy on the other hand has major backing by SCG and many, many, LGS participants who can capitalize on having even smaller tournaments. However, SCG is still able to and for the unforeseen future will be able to capitalize on Legacy in various tournaments and events. Not every deck in Legacy requires dual lands, though most do. But even for those that need dual lands to be optimal for competitive play there are enough floating around on the market and owned by the player base.

As far as Legacy growing in number of players or events substantially more than where it is now, that is not likely to happen. Yet, what is likely is that the format will be stable at around the number of players and events the format currently holds.

I would pick up Badlands and Scrublands right now if you have the cash. BRx Zombies and BWx Stoneblade will likely be shored up by RtR block, and with Gatecrash coming out soon do not be surprised to see some new toys for BWx Stoneblade from Orzhav, as there will probably be some new discard outlets for the deck. Otherwise, if you are looking for good value, dual lands at lower prices are likely to jump more in shorter time frames due to hype-demand following some chase rare or mythic that Legacy players go bonkers to try out in competitive play. Prices will then level out, but you will still pay more later on.
