Hey there! returning player with basically no cards outside some ixalan stuff I drafted at my LGS, really looking to get into modern since thats the only format my LGS is doing for constructed. I might have a few WWK manlands and some m10 checklands, if thats helpful.
Im pretty open about color combos, I guess the only one I really dislike it u\g, the rest im pretty cool with.
prefer to play aggro or tempo (goodstuff) decks, i enjoy damage rather then countering or comboing out.
My budget is around 100$, but if the deck is sweet i can bump it to 150.
pretty much looking to have a good time at the modern FNM tournies, while keeping an option to upgrading the deck slowly to ptq level.
I'm currentyly in the process of building an Ixidor Reality Sculptor commander deck.
Since there aren't that much morph card in blue, I decided to add a 2nd big theme to the deck, which is tapping and untapping permanents.
Currently i only have 1 good synergy, which is Surgespanner with some sort of repeatable source of tapping and untapping to make it an unstoppable and unlimited boomerang.
Which other cards that have to do something with taping an untapping r available for commander usage?, and what r the best cards for "infinte" or "semi-infinte" tapping and untapping stuff.
I'm pretty disappointed no1 mentioned Ixidor, Reality Scupltor. I'm having a blast every time I play with him. The ability to counter spells and lock opponents from untapping w/o wasting cards is just too much fun, and since he doesn't do much by itself, until u start to go nuts u r usually not the target, and can build up mana and cards quite easliy. Also, any mono U EDH deck that runs Eternal Dominion is awsome.
Like many of you, I also like this format a lot, and since i'm lucky and my group isn't competitive at all, we can afford playing cheap and cool decks. My Zur deck was too strong for our table so I decided to deconstruct it. Now i ask you: which general is good for multiplayer, is fairly cheap to build a deck around, and is a blast to play?
I block with a creature that was taken with Sower of Temptation. After blocks has been declared, i bounce my sower using Riptide Laboratory. Both attacker and blocker are 2/2. What will happen to the attacker and blocker? will both creature die because blockers has been declared, or they will be removed from combat or something like that?
I can't believe i'm saying this, but WW has a good chance of working well in this metagame. all it needs is some more better little aggro creatures and i can definitly see myself playing that deck.
Most of you have forgotten about a rly popular card these days: Destructiv Force. If you have a titan in play, he will thik twice before casting his DF. But if you have a broodmate, it won't even bug the DF player. And since this type of decks is so popular these days, you can't ignore the fact the 6 toughness is better than any evasion broodmate can offer.
I think it was last PTQ when I met one of the biggest jerks. Last year our countery suffered from a major lack in sleeves, so I managed to get 100 White ultra pro sleeves the day before the PTQ. Now, i got my deck and ETC...let's skip a little to the 5th round. Some guy playing 5CC called a judge because I little piece of dust fell of the sealing on my sleeves during the previous rounds causing them to stick to the sleeves when I shuffled. There's nothing really to do about it (i wasn't the only 1 with that problem so the judges ignored it). What enoyed me about it that he repeadtdly called the judge for it. Our match was 1-1-1 becasue he kept calling the judge to stay at our table to see i'm not cheating. But here's the thing: after the match ended I said to him the usual stuff (good game, misplays, ETC), being nice, and he out of the sky just said "cheater" (he knew about the dust thing becasue he had the same sleeves as I did!)
I have one thing to say about this: WTH.
I rly envy you guys that you can get boxes (a box here is about 200$[best case scenerio]).
What I usually do is trading. Since our LGS has a large casual player community, they are willing to trade my older cards for new 1 they open in packs. I like the cycles of nature
since MTG here is very expensive, I attend to only 1 or 2 PRs per year. FNMs are the best option here to get cards for a reasonable price.
My friend did it, and he was sorry for that. You can find the same level if not better of articles at Channel Fireball for free. LSV, PV, conley woods, JT, and many other pros.
