Since Starcitygames and now Wizards are releasing their own Mtg apps, I was thinking of writing some Mtg related software of my own, but I'm not sure where to start, so I've got some questions for you:
What apps do you currently use? eg. life trackers, deck builders, gatherer/rules searches?
Which platforms do you use Mtg apps on- eg. iOS, Android, Websites?
Are there any ideas out there about what types of apps people need or want to use? eg. I really wish there was an ... app
It just looks like Wizards is banning the most obnoxious decks from previous standard and extended seasons (CawBlade, Valakut, Faeries, Affinity, Hypergenesis, Dredge) so that we can start with a fresh format.
The main problem everyone had with extended was that it was dubbed "Standard 2.0". We don't want to play recycled standard decks, and it looks like Wizards doesn't want that either. Maybe they went a little over the top, but would you want to play another PTQ season of CawBlade mirrors? Another PTQ season of Faeries mirrors? Another season of Jund mirrors? (Oh wait, they didn't ban anything from Jund :mad:....)
It's an iconic fantasy type, and hasn't been overused (only 30 centaurs have been printed, and mainly in green). Centaurs are intelligent and powerful, and this leads to good abilities and I can see Centaurs up to 5/4 or 6/3 or 4/4.
Wurm could work, but I don't think a Wurm is intelligent enough to allow interesting abilities.
Form of Tim :symw::symu::symu::symr:
Enchantment - Aura
Enchant Creature
Enchanted creature has :symtap:: Enchanted creature deals 4 damage to target creature or player.
So maybe we have
Thornling :3mana::symg::symg:
Creature - Shapeshifter
:1mana:: Thornling gets +1/-1 until eot
:1mana:: Thornling gets -1/+1 until eot
:symg:: Untap Thornling
2 other abilities for
3/3
I would say it's not a coincidence that there is one instance of +1/-1 and -1/+1 in the orb.
He also plays nicely with the 5 power matters theme.
The idea is to kill them the turn WAT comes into play by cheating the loop with Salvage Titan. Get enough artifacts in play (12, if you haven't dealt any damage to them), then play WAT, sacrifice 3 arts to play Salvage Titan, remove those to return it, wash, rinse repeat. Cauldron reduces the amount of creatures you need (for example if you have a couple Ornithopters and a Juggernaut in play, give them persist for an extra use; especially nice when chaining Titans because it still triggers WAT when it comes back into play with a -1/-1 counter on it). Glaze Fiend was put after seeing how many artifacts can come into play in a turn, it can get QUITE large; plus it attacks for 2+ in the early turns.
Could use some tweaking, and maybe removing Green making Savage lands into non-citp tapped for consistently curving out. Take out Firespout and replace with 4x Pyroclasm. I liked the Executioner's Capsule because it gave a way to deal with an early Rhox War Monk.
Nice deck.
Chromatic Star is in tenth - maybe +4 Chromatic Star -4 Springleaf Drum as there aren't many creatures to make the drum that useful.
