Also, since I already have a draw mechanic in the name of Snakeform, should I take out the Visionaries and replace them with the manafixing Druid of the Anima?
I took out the Cerdon's like you said and added Meglonoth. I don't think I'll add the twinblade slasher's like I wanted to. I do appreciate your suggestion about Meglonoth; even though his mana cost is harder to get with the 3 naya colors, by the time I have 6 mana, it's almost certain with my manabase that I'll have all 3, and Meglonoth is a much better win condition than Bull Cerodon.
So I've playtested this build and it plays very well. I've playtested Whispersilk cloak and it plays exactly how I want it to. I really want to add Twinblade Slasher because Whither works very well within my meta. What should I take out to add the Twinblades? I don't want to take out snakeform because it works so well for me and nets me another card(to speed up my game, so I can lay two creatures in one turn once I have a lot of mana). Besides, a lot of my friends are playing cards that I need to counter, and I've noticed that I get locked in a stalemate with other decks similar to Naya and snakeform can help me break that.
So what do you think? Should I add the Twinblades since they are a potential 3/3 with Whither? In fact, just let me know what you'd change about the maindeck itself. Ideas for new cards, upping or lowering the count of others, etc.
EDIT: Should I add Quirion Dryad? If so, what should I take out?
Keep in mind, the reason I've used mediocre cards is to keep this in a budget range. The deck came out to be around $25(not including the Treetop Villages) and would like to keep it in that range.
For the price, do you think this is a decent deck? Tell me if you see the synergy and the strategy I'm going for. I don't expect to win tourney's with it, but rather have some fun.
I just posted a new set of rules that says READ BEFORE POSTING. It specifically says budget versions belong in the budget clinic thread. That's why it's there -- to give budget players a specific place to seek help and to keep threads clean of budget advice.
I agree with your previous post Maniac, it is annoying whne people suggest 20$ rares when your on budget.
You need to focus on a certain type, like ramp, the naya theme (+5 power) or just eh plain ol' aggro.
When you do that, we will be able to advice you better on the cards you should get, for now i have been throwing card names that i think could fit, but i will able to help you in a better way if you will tell us your deck's direction.
BTW, if your able, try to get a playset of a liege, i recommand on Boartusk Liege for your deck, since most of yor creatures are red, green or both. Lieges are always a nice addition to a budget deck that doesnt rely on creature's type.
First off, Boartusk Liege is amazing and I'm definitely considering a playset of him.
For my deck, I mostly want to keep drawing(using Visionaries and Gift of the Gargantuan) until I get 2 of my 5 power or greaters out, then use naya charm to tap all the enemy creatures, and do 10 or more damage. Then hopefully wittle them down(or do the naya charm combo again if I draw it again). It's worked before, and works most of the time(except when I played a mono-blue control).
Before I go further, are you on a budget? I don't wanna suggest things you can't afford. I'm on a budget myself and hate when people suggest $20 rares.
If not, throw in figure of destiny, chameleon colossus, and maybe some garruks to round the deck out. Also add some llanowar elves as was suggested above. Then take out cavern thoctar and maybe gift of the gargantuan. The land base needs work, but it can stay and still be effective.
I'm kind of on a mid-budget. I can get 2 FoD from friends if I have to. I will concede to taking out the Cavern Thoctar, but the Gift of the Gargantuans have saved me a number of times, I may make it a 3 of(or 2 of, that way I have a 4 of spot for llanowar elves.)
-2 Gift of the Gargantuan
-2 Cavern Thoctar
+4 Llanowar Elves
I've heard a lot of complaining about Alara, and while it's not my favorite set, it definitely set a new standard for both art, flavor, and overall fun factor to play(at least in my eyes).
I don't think this deck is solid at all. any control-styled deck can crush it in about 5 turns.
Since your a Naya guy, i can advice you to take a look at the Naya-deck discussion thread, which is right above.
you need minimze the number of your card type, and make more playsets. for example, 1 Spearbreaker Behemoth is bad, for the obvious reason there's a 1/60 chance you will draw it. you need to add more copies of your better cards, and cut out the junkies.
i Suggest you will add a 4th Visionary, add 4 Llanowar Elves in place of the 2 Cavern Thoctars and 2 Naturalizes. The thoctar is just bad as it is, and Naturalize is more of a SB card then a MD card. cut the last Naturalize and add a 2nd Spearbreaker, which shouldn't be a prob to get.
I hope i helped a bit
Thanks for the reply.
I see what you mean, but in my playtests, the 3 druids, combined with the constant shuffling that rampant growth gives me, combined with gift of the gargantuan have all never made it a problem getting spearbreaker.
I agree, the naturalizes will go to the SB. I will add a Spearbreaker, a visionary, and I need to get some Llanowar Elves lol.
and I would like to know your opinion on it, from a theoretical standpoint. I've already played it and I know it does well, but I'd like to see if you know of any weaknesses it has and if there's a way to combat them. Also, is the deck solid?
Wow, I'm glad someone made a fun-looking T2 Tezzeret deck. I really like Tezzeret and he's really underplayed in my area. Looks pretty solid overall.
That's a pretty sick manabase too.
True, but for right now I'll probably stick with the Druids until I get the money for the Birds.
