I just can't see this being viable without dread return...Are there other options here? I don't want to play dredge if I have to play fair. Lol.

Joey Mispagel also went 4-0 in the standard portion of the invitational yesterday with vamps. I think it's really well positioned right now. Idk how long that'll last, but don't throw this to the side....it's real.

    For Reference, my list

    FNM

FNM was fairly small this week with people out of town/ a large group of new kids who wanted to work on decks this week and get advice from the rest of us. Most of the good players/ grinders stuck around though, so we had a whopping 11 players in what was a fairly constructive fnm.

Round 1- bye....Thanks to the number 11. I normally hate byes, but I used the time to help kids construct decks, and watch an intense u/w caw blade v. Grixis Twin Battle. Both players are reaaaally good, and caw blade gets him in 3.

Round 2-Puresteel white-My buddies and I have named this K-red jr, because it can be reallllly explosive and just beat you early, or do nothing. I know he has main board phyrexian revoker, and dispatch
can be annoying. He wins the roll, plays some dudes, and dies when I play exarch to tap his ungodly huge paladin (14/14), end of turn into the roil Revoker, and smack the twin ftw.
Game 2-I got the turn 4 win, but he has metal craft, and keeps up a plains all day. I have no back up exarch or twin in hand, so i sit on it and burn and bounce dudes until i find a probe. Probe reveals his bluff, I play it out, and get there while at 5 life.

Round 3- U/w Caw Blade. Game 1- I win the roll and get there on turn 5. Spell Pierce ftw!

Game 2-Loooooong drawn out game. I miss play and lose a counter war, and end up behind. He and I sling spells for 29 minutes, back and forth. Everytime One of us is about to win, the other one pulls a trick out. We have 3 major counter wars over splinter twin, and he has the into the roil with the last mana to get my dude. two turns later, I die.

Game 3- Time is called, and we go to turns. His turn 4 he gets a little careless, and taps mana to swing with colonnade. i seize the opportunity, and go off on turn 5.

Round 4-K-red. This guy plays a mean kuldoltha red list. As I'm the only x-0, I get paired down. I'll go play by play, this one ends fast.

G1-I finally win a roll, and get to go first. I keep a hand with an exarch, 3 lands, an into the roil, and 2 probe. I probe him turn 1 drawing into my second tarn, and see-

......wow. I pass. He lays mountain, pest, opal, ornithopter then passes. Someone apparently told him I have pyroclasms md, so he doesn't over commit. I draw into another into the roil and pass with two mana up. He draws guide, windmill slams it, and goes to attack. I bounce the guide (19) and he plays 2 pests and passes. I land go. He draws, plays guide, and bushwacker kicked, and i pause to do math. I play exarch, tap guide, and drop to 1 (each pest does 3=9. ornithopter does 4. bushwhacker does 5). I set my mana up, and flip the twin onto the table. WHOOT! I'd rather be lucky then good.

Game 2- I keep the combo in the opener, he gets a slow draw, and I go off on 4. Nothing to see here.

I take down fnm. The thing I learn is we can't be afraid to get hit by dudes, or dudes with swords. Even in play testing afterwards, I end a lot of games in single digits. One hit from sword of feast and famine is not the end of existence. A lot of twin players in my area, as well as i saw in louisville at the 5k, seemed like they were afraid to take a hit. I mean yeah you hit a point eventually were you gotta use a spell to save some life, but I like to hold onto things. Use em sparingly. Each spell in this deck is a valuable resource. I'm gonna go test. I'll post jace tourney report later tonight or tomorrow. Gonna go beat up some caw blade!

Ran this at both fnm, and a Jace tournament this weekend. I was 6-0-1 between the two (we only had 8 people at the jace tournament Frown ) taking first at fnm and drawing for 1 and 2 with my buddy who is in the same card pool at Jace tourney. I play in a competitive meta, and will post a full report later tonight, but wanted to put this list out there. The sideboard is pretty bad.....like I threw it together right before fnm and didn't bother changing it before the tournament....and yes, I know there are no Jaces. It's not that I don't have any, I just feel like we dont need them.....not one game did I regret this decision. I will post a report later. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Went 4-1 at fnm tonight losing to my buddy with caw blade in what ultimately was a perfect storm against me that resulted in 4 games. Will post full report tomorrow.

There was talk of Mono White Stax/Prisonesque decks being made. Cards from there that could be added from there is Leonin Arbiter, Phyrexian Revoker, World Queller, and Jinxed Idol. The last cards combos well with the Revoker because once you give your opponent the Idol, then you name the Idol and they can't give it back to you. I know I'm forgetting others but that's a start.

I've seen some of these floating around. It's a fun idea, but seems more fragile. Bolt and other burn run through my meta and seem like they would tear it apart. Though I have been playing around with World Queller. It's kinda fun with emeria, but I need more testing to know how it really does.

If you switch to WoO over Walkers, would you cut a land?
Also, most lists run four Titans. Did you ever miss the fourth in your list?
Is the one DoJ worth it? I've seen lists with four, two and zero. I wonder if you add WoO, take out a land and add a second DoJ if that would work.
The deck's obviously good; I'm just trying to optimize.

I would not cut a land. Mainly due to needing Emeria online. 25 seems to be a right number in assuring we hit all of our land drops.

I didn't miss the titan at all. In fact many games I saw multiple titans. I added the day as a random out to sticky situations, and it actually came in handy a few times. I don't think we need a second day....but I still have a lot of testing to do. For right now though I think I'm gonna stick with one.

I've been seeing decks like yours on MODO and one t16ed the GP a few weeks back.
    A few questions, if you don't mind . . .
-The GP list ran MD WoO, SB Walkers. Is it really worth MDing KFW? Obviously, they are good against Valakut, RUG and of course RDW and Boros but I'm just curious.
-Love the Kemba tech. That's not really a question, I guess.
-What's your SB strategy? In particular, do you bring in Memoricide vs. anything other than Valakut?
-How frequently do you get the Mortarpod/Lifestaff/Collar thing going and is it worth trying?
-Is there any MU where you want four Mortarpods? I know it's great vs. much of the field but isn't it enough to run two in your 75 since you can tutor them and reuse them with Hawks, etc.?
Grats on your run yesterday. This year's Regionals was not as kind to me as last year's.

I thought the mainboard firewalker would be great....I mean I bragged to buddies about how good they were going to be. Saw 1 boros deck, and never saw a walker. Biggest upset ever. I'm gonna switch them to walls by next fnm....

Kemba was a BOMB. It was also the card most read by my opponents. Most of caw blade is switching to the spot removal package, with only 1-2 day of judgement. Kemba was an all star at recovering from a day, or eating a spot removal, and if unanswered, just won the game.

I brought in memoricide against EVERYTHING....except boros. If for nothing else just the shear amusement of watching my opponents face as I fetch up a swamp....I brought it in against caw blade all day. Gideon Jura was not fun to deal with....Not hard to deal with, but annoying. It also helped win me a game against a land screwed opponent when I named Jace to ensure he wasn't able to brainstorm his way out. Did you want a full sideboard guide? I can make one if someone needs it.

the thing about mortapod, life staff, and collar is, all three of them are pretty good individually at doing what they do. They all helped me out of various jams, and lead me to victory. Collar is a great threat on its own, in gaining us life, and giving the opponent opportunities to make blocking errors. Lifestaff is necessary against aggro decks like mono red and boros. Even without the collar, it's pretty sick with mortapod. I'm going to answer the last question here also, by saying I laughed when I saw 4 mortapods in the mtgo 75. I thought it was unnecessary. I took one out the side, one out the main, and was having problems finding answers to turn 2 lotus cobra when testing against rug. I was one happy dude when I avoided Rug the whole day, but that testing alone convinced me I had to run 4. Unanswered lotus cobra makes for an almost unwinnable match. I also brought them in against caw blade, took out hawks, and could assist in killing a jace. The other piece of the combo you are neglecting is Emeria, the sky ruin . I got this combo up twice against boros, and I swear the opponent was tearing up. The sick ability to block sack a hawk, kill your dude, and gain four life...and then bring it back at my upkeep with Emeria almost made me cry. It was just not fair.

i also took mono white control albeit probably different than the normal lists(i like to innovate) yet sadly i went 0-4-1 in the rounds i played before dropping and hitting the trade tables Smile

i also don't have the the deck together, i took it apart due to its poor showing.

what did your list look like?

i posted mine in the mono white thread in decks for creation.

Ratchet bomb is necessary against kuldoltha red, and helps our caw matchup. Its also one of the few answers to journey to nowhere.

if you have a lot of aggro that's probably not a horrible idea.

That's pretty interesting. Summoning Trap is a card I haven't really played with, so I will have to give that a go.

Do we take out Wall Of Tanglecord against Birds w/ Swords?

WoT is our beast againt caw blade. I almost want to put more in the 75.....but the list is soooo tight.
