No, All creatures block simultaneously. What that means is when you reach the point where you declare blockers, no player gains priority until blockers are finished being declared.

In order to put batterskull in play you'll have to use stoneforge's ability during the declare attackers step after attackers are declared.

You are a fool. Stasis is not a two drop, it's a late game over card. If I can stick a walker for one turn (not hard), I drop stasis the next turn and get an easy win. Decks have to literally build around answering that or being able to fight it.

Stasis is in the group of cards so unfun that people who remember it exist are questioned.

Every card with Markov on it has had or granted lifelink / lifegain. Regardless of flip or not it is guaranteed to have that part.

I can agree it might be part human though

Ok, well that's a pretty cool effect I can toy with. I got the comp numbers from the MTGS wiki which explains why they are out of date.

Thank you for the prompt responses!

  • posted a message on Custom Card Splicing Question
I really don't know if this forum is capable of answering a custom card question, but I ran into a snag when designing one. If this is the wrong thread please redirect me.

Suppose we have an instant card with Splice onto Instant.

    The relevant rules snip:
502.40a Splice is a static ability that functions while a card is in your hand. “Splice onto [type or subtype] [cost]” means “You may reveal this card from your hand as you play a [type or subtype] spell. If you do, copy this card’s text box onto that spell and pay [cost] as an additional cost to play that spell.” Paying a card’s splice cost follows the rules for paying additional costs in rules 409.1b and 409.1f–h.

So My question is what if there was a triggered on cast clause in my original splice card.
    Something along the lines of

    Stormy spells (No Mana cost)
    Instant
(A card without a mana cost cannot be cast)
    Splice onto Instant UU.
    Storm.

The hiccup I am running into here is splice effects take place AS you cast a spell. If storm text is copied onto the spell as part of splicing, does it have time to trigger from the spell being cast, or is it too late as it has already been cast?

    Quote from Morphling
I'm not excited about the DFC's coming back.

Initially I was kinda in the 'WTF..Blasphemy!' crowd.

Then, I got a chance to play with them in a tourney and I had to grudgingly admit, they really were kinda cool in Limited environment. Then again, I got perhaps the most interesting one.

Now that I've had a chance to reconsider them, I'll be honest when I say I still don't think they bring all that much to the game. They don't really do anything that is cool enough to justify shoe-horning them into future sets. Ultimately, they really ARE pretty gimmicky, and the checklist card is just a total eyesore.

tl;dr - They're fun and different, but I'd be OK with not seeing anymore of them after INN.

This about sums up how I feel. It was a well executed attempt, it looked bad, turned out ok. Overall, I think it was a smart move. The flavor of the non-werewolf cards are what put it over for me. So many good cards too.

I placed 3rd at Indiana States, Running GW Tokens. I think the top two others were Giestblade decks. I was tired and didn't hear the final results of the top 8.

  • posted a message on Innistrad and Dark Ascension's Logo...any ideas?
Innistrad Symbol is a throne, thought that was obvious. Compare the symbol to the throne she is sitting in here. http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/arcana/666.
Dark Ascension looks like it is a crown to me, which leads me to believe roll would actually be a scepter. That however is still stretching it pretty far.

  • posted a message on Really? Retrieve an exiled card? WTF?
The point of changing the removed from game zone to the exile zone was they wanted to use design space in RFG (Suspend, riftsweeper, this card) and the cards were not really outside of the game.

This design space was directly a result of the change they made during M10. It was coming.

I would like to point out with any stuffy doll that she literally grows as fast as Jenara, Asura of War, in terms of +1/+1 counters. So she is quite crazy in EDH.

I can finally build a not bad BR edh

  • posted a message on Norn's Annex + Gideon Jura
    first two answers are incorrect.

508.1d The active player checks each creature he or she controls to see whether it's affected by any requirements (effects that say a creature must attack, or that it must attack if some condition is met). If the number of requirements that are being obeyed is fewer than the maximum possible number of requirements that could be obeyed without disobeying any restrictions, the declaration of attackers is illegal. Tapped creatures and creatures that can't attack unless you pay a cost are exempt from effects that would require them to attack.

Doing this means Gideon will take no effect, creatures that are forced to attack are no longer able to attack because their controller chooses to not pay life.

As a note, Ghostly Prison or propaganda don't apply here, because attacking you is not the same as attacking Gideon Jura. (as was implied above)

Garruk's 0 uses incorrect templating. It should be "that card", not "the revealed card". See Liliana Vess.

reading is tech. Just as vamp tutor doesn't require a reveal because it can be any card it will be worded differently. The wording is exactly right on all of these cards. Chandra <3

Also simulacrum will fit, the scepter is a placeholder at the moment.

I do like the vampire flavor...

    [B]

I actually would like to put this guy in my legacy elf deck.

    [B]

One question comes to mind here... does the card remember it's counters or the Legendary Creature does?

If the card remembers the counters then there's a big difference between 2 Skullbriar's in the graveyard since one has counters on it and the other doesnt (and how can we figure wich one has counters if the graveyard is mixed)

If the Legendary Creature remembers the counters then... If the opponent Swords to Plowshares my Skullbriar then I can put another into play with the orignal counters...

    Smile

It's the card, there is no sensible reason for it to be otherwise. The counters move with the card but in terms of edh counters are probably best kept near the general zone while he is not in play.

On another note edric makes me smile. So very very happy.
