    ThiSatori,

Thanks for running this contest. Sucks to lose but still had fun coming up with something. I think it's really cool that you're running this kind of contest when you're not getting much in return (other than poetry). I think it would be kind of neat for you to give out 2nd and 3rd place prices (although I doubt I'd get them) but that's really just icing on the cake.

I know you didn't ask for suggestions for the next card but I think is the prolific green card from the set and can have some interesting poetic implications.

Thanks again for running this neat little contest ThisSatori. I look forward to competing and reading in the next ones to come.

Beast within! That is a pretty good idea!! Is it a rare though?

Hello everyone! It is time to announce this contests winners! Sorry I am a little late getting around to this one but here are the results just the same.

    The winner is!
    Quote from mishæmanoil
    pale, brittle weapons
    taking new purpose from the
    desecrated dead

I like the simplicity and real haiku feel of this one. Haiku are trying to explain something simple in simple terms but with go arrangement and flow. I think this on describes Bonehoard really well and does so simply and beautifully.

My second favorite was this one:

    Quote from two_eyes
    The quiet of death
    Fallen of war surround me
    A distant... rattle?

I like the simplicity in this one as well, plus it would be just freaky to have survived a huge battle and thing all the phyrexians are gone and then you here something small moving but getting bigger and closer.

The Playset of japanese bonehoards will go to mishæmanoil but I have an English language Bonehoard foil that I ordered by mistake and I will award that to Two_Eyes

I am trying to come up with something green for the next contest still. I will check prices on the ones that were suggested and see what i can pull off.

Winners! Please private message me your addresses!

have you ever thought of doing uncommon sets and common sets as 2nd and 3rd place prizes?

i know you probly dont wanna be sending a ton of stuff out all the time

but alot of us without access to japanese stuff would love some cool playable commons and uncommons like squad hawks, bolts, signal pests, etc etc

    just a thought

and you inspire me to wanna do a contest on here to.. so im brainstorming some good ideas Smile

That's a pretty good idea. However that would make it hard to get distinct topic for the haiku. Like with bonehoard as number 1 prize I could do an uncommon living weapon as 2 and a common as third but for the Phoenix contest or the ooze contest it would be harder to find in set cards of the same color and flavor. But i am up for suggestions if any one knows a good was to do it!

Some big changes and my opinions:

No more Regional Prereleases - Terrible decision I feel. It's already way too crowded at my favorite LGS for big tournaments. Regional prereleases are pretty good since they usally take place at places like hotels or convention centres.

No more side events at the Pro Tour - Terrible decision. I have absolutely no interest in tournament play and going to Pro Tours was only ever for side events. I'm not sure what "private events". I sure as hell don't want to stand around watching other people play Magic.

More Grand Prixs - Only good decision out of this announcement. Hopefully there will be more in Canada and around the world to make up for lack of Pro Tour side events

No more side events at the Pro Tour seems really sad....

Great stuff so far guys! Just one day remaining. Tell your friends!

I haven't done a green card yet I don't think. Anything from MBS or New Phyrexia that you guys think I should do?

That's pretty cool about the infinite combo in standard. Pretty janky sounding though.

How do you differentiate between different phybrid mana?
I mean, aside from the card frame, how do we know if a card can be paid for with {PB} or {PR}?

For a colorblind, for instance, it might be hard.
Also, for those of us using mana tags... I think they should've created P as the phyrexian symbol meaning "2 life". And then use the good old hybrid such as (W/B) and (2/W) with the phyrexian symbol on one half.

Part of it I'm sure is they don't want to make it good old ravnica. They want it to feel newer and unique where hybrid symbols is old news.

We've had multiple Japanese speakers confirm that it is CMC +1.

He speaks the truth. It is definitely plus 1. I agree it is weird but it is what it is.

Any translation for Urabrask's flavour text? I'm very curious about that :P.

I posted a translation a few pages back. Try page 26 or 25?

I'm suspecting it's because we haven't seen any artifacts with colored mana costs on them that aren't phybrid. I think that might be the case for all the Phyrexian artifacts in the set.

Edit: I have a question about Fresh Meat's text. Is it for sure just "creatures you control" that it counts, or "nontoken creatures"?

It is for each creature put in your graveyard. And it says nothing about nontoken creatures so it must be all creatures.

Magac reminded me of something, Satori.

Can you comment on whether Screamwhip is 'each Swamp in play', or 'each Swamp you control'?

    Each swamp you control.

It's X{PB}, so you need X mana and can only pay at most 2 life.

We have been through this before though.

It doesn't tap to use the ability. So you can pay 2 life and X = 0 and remove zero counters from target permanent. Then! You can do it again as per necessary paying 0 mana and 2 life each time and removing zero counters. Check a few pages back in the thread and you will see a discussion about it.
