Cage is a Pithing Needle for what this set could have possibly unleashed. Wizards has to keep reanimation from being broken and they can't possibly playtest 16 years of cards before the set is due for release, so they just generate a way to shut it down for anybody. I hate it to hell, but I will not say it's unwarranted or even unnecessary.

A half-Doubling Season? That's nice, especially they pick the more commonly used half, tokens.
But the only reason they aren't reprinting doubling season is because Planeswalker shenanigans. Hell, the price doubled with that new Modern format became official. I still remember people yelling at me how that card will never become anything. And now look at it... might as well be on the Reserved List ;~;

You created a whole block dedicated to dropping as much land as possible, and then you went and hosed it completely with Leonin Arbiter and this guy. Granted, Ramp decks were getting out of control, but couldn't you have done something about it that didn't affect Landfall, i.e. Zendikar block's bread-and-butter?

I find it amusing that Red and White, the friend colors of Green, are hosing an effect that is pretty much 90% Green.
I didn't go yet, but my friend told me of his beastly conquest filled with awesome plays yesterday. He went 3-1 losing only to Indestructible Knight + Clone combo.
He went Black/White with cards like Grave Titan, Serra Angel, Safe Passage, Ajani, Black Knight. I think my favorite story he told me had to be this:

Remember, for 6 you can get 8/8 trample uncounterable, and other such silliness. 6/6 trample doesn't cut it for 6 in green, so the ability HAS to be the reason you play the card, otherwise you might as well be playing something bigger and better.
Or something cheaper like Knights. I mean, really. Tarmogoyf would still be a house if it was 4 or 5 mana, but it wouldn't be as amazing. One of the benefits of the card was it being insanely cheap so it could drop at any time and/or leave room for more spells to cast.
Honestly, I love this card and I really hope it sees play because I think it's awesome. I just don't think it's as amazing as people say it will be, or at least not for the reason they say it will be. You'll ramp up to get this card and start beating face and then win because you're beating face. The deck thinning and utility searching is nice but I'm just wondering how necessary it will be towards winning at that point. I will await the lists.
there NEEDS to be decks that dont just go, turn 1 dude, turn 2 dude, turn 3 dude, turn 4 dude, planeswalker, dude, dude, dude, dude.

like its just frustrating losing to bads, like on friday in a box tournament i lost to some bad playing mythic because i couldnt draw an all is dust in 3 games. he was sooo garbage he didnt even fake the negate he just kept tapping out to play creatures and escorts. and of course i lose cus i dont draw path to go with day or a all is dust. gg me.

Winning plays are never bad plays. He played Blue, held no pretense, and swung aggressively for the win. Crushing Victory. That man is like my hero.
If Goyf gets reprinted, I can see it changing 1 rarity level - but not that way. Don't get me wrong, I want it to go that way, but it wont.
I do remember someone saying that Goyf was supposed to be Uncommon but was bumped because they were down by 1 rare in the green side. If Path to Exile was rare, the same thing would have happened.
Knights is reason enough to show that this card is good. I mean, it didn't have trample but it found you duals, manlands, and all your other utility, plus it was attached to a body that got stronger as you used it. But you didn't really need to ramp for Knights. This takes twice the amount of time (albeit not that much and Standard is heading in the direction of slowing down anyway so this point probably doesn't matter much anyway), and breaks even with it's ability being twice as potent. But really, I don't value it as twice the price of Knights. Maybe around $16-18 but $25?
I can see a number of price drops here. Mainly the Green Titan. Ability is awesome but 6 mana is still 6 mana. Turn 4 you're dropping a 6/6 that grants you more lands and then you start swinging for the win. I really can't see the effect doing much for you other than lessening the chances of you drawing lands to your hand. Just like with the cycle of the three-colored dragons, if you're swinging with the Titan, you're probably winning anyway.

It sure does work well when you're playing WITH it though.
