Crap. I took a hiatus from the forums earlier this year and turned off the function that allows me to receive PMs. If you sent them out already, could you resend mine? Sorry. :/
Gwafa Hazid, Profiteer - 1WU
Legendary Creature - Human Rogue (R) WU,T: Put a Bribery counter on target creature you don't control, then its controller draw a card.
Creature with Bribery counters on it cannot attack or block.
2/2.
Honestly, couldn't they have thrown us a bone and made this a little better? Imagine how much more playable it'd be if it was a 3/4, or even a 2/3.
You never attack with a looter anyways so it seems fine.
Yes, but at least you don't have to pay an extra U to use the merfolk's ability. This card's not going to be played as much as it might have because of that one reason.
That wouldn't work. Since it's propably a replacement ability on Progenitus, he doesn't touch the graveyard and hence Yixlid Jailer ability doesn't do anything.
I dunno, I was just going by what Kedar from WotC said.
Quote from Kedar »
Not quite true. While DSC won't even hit the graveyard and instead goes straight to the library, this could be stopped by a fewthings; the Jailer would remove the triggered ability when it goes to the graveyard and since it's not a leaves-play ability, it would normally trigger from the 'yard but won't thanks to Jailer, and it can be removed by something like Necrogenesis or Beckon Apparition in response to the trigger. Keep that in mind when considering how good it is.
And before anyone tries to tell me I'm wrong because you don't actually know the rules, this is the same thing as with the Elemental Incarnations of Lorwyn.
If you've been to WotC before, you might know that while he is kind of a know-it-all, Kedar is pretty familiar with the Magic rulebook. I'm going by what he said.
If the "shuffle"-ability is a triggered ability, and Yixlid Jailer is in play it won't trigger at all, that is correct. Good point. But if it is a triggered ability you could reanimate it with Makeshift Mannequin in response.
Maybe I should've autocarded Zombify, rather than Mannequin.
Please keep the puzzles, they're fun, challenging, and for one make trolls who don't contribute (like myself to be honest) work for their information they make no effort to contribute to. Keep up the great work!
P.S. I'm blown away that there are any people complaining about the puzzles. I mean....honestly? You're complaining that you are being given free information about magic sets that has yet to come out, but you need to put a few minutes / hours of your time and do some sleuthing? This is completely free and accurate information and some people have the audacity to to complain about the way it's presented? I find this absurd.
I don't know, I find it kind of frustrating when a cryptogram's solution's wording is a little off. For instance, last night, when the answer to one of the lands was finally figured out, the wording was a bit off; for this reason, some thought the card might be different. I enjoy some puzzles--just not the really mottled ones, because then there's a good chance there will be different answers from different people.
I'd like to see cards like these on Magic Online. They could be offered only on a specified date; this card, for instance, might only be available on Christmas day, and only as a prize for winning a certain event. It'd definitely be a fun addition to the many boosters one can win at a Premier Event.
Unrelated to card: I thoroughly enjoyed the "ha" at the end of the description on the eBay auction page.
it says main ability from jinxed choker hence feral hydra might switch to your opponent, gain a counter, and then smack them. i.e. it could be a decent finisher, especially if it has haste.
Feral Hydra :xmana::symg: Creature-Hydra
Feral Hydra comes into play with X +1/+1 counters on it.
At end of turn target opponent gains control of Feral Hydra and puts a counter on it.
At the beginning of your upkeep Feral Hydra deals damage to you
equal the number of counters on it.
:3mana:: Put a +1/+1 counter on Feral Hydra. Any player may play this ability.
0/0
This might be fun with Puca's Mischief.
"Feral" hits only three times in the Orb, so I don't think it's going to have that extra ability.
Well, I'm pretty underwhelmed by the set, especially Hellkite Overlord; really, the only way it'll see play is if a graveyard mechanic takes Standard by storm.
Here's to hoping that Dwarves are in sets from now onwards.
I don't know how much play these cards will see, except for maybe Hotheaded Giant in casual.

Check it out if you don't believe me.
