I agree with most of what's been said: this is largely disappointing. Those few legends that made sense to put in a FTV: Commander set like this either have the same art (Sisay), unremarkable new are (Kiki-Jiki) or bafflingly terrible new art (Rafiq of the Tiny Head)
But that Visara art is just amazing. I usually don't like the in-your-face cleavage-y arts, but that art is badass.
I recently found myself in a situation where I can only play 1v1 EDH. This is quite a change for me, as before I preferred to plat multiplayer EDH exclusively. However, since I don't like losing all time, I have decided to turn one of my existing decks into a 1v1 deck, and it seemed like Goblins (in my sig) was the best choice.
My question is: how exactly does one make a 1v1 EDH deck? I know pinpoint removal/targeted discard is better. Uh...the game is faster, so I suppose the curve should be lower? I only really know how to build for multiplayer. Can you fine fellows help me out by giving me some advice as to how to do 1v1 EDH, and how to build to that end? Thanks!
If I control both a Devoted Druid and Melira, Sylvok Outcast, can I activate the Druid's untap ability? My impression is not, because I will be unable to pay the cost of the Druid's ability, but I want to make sure. Thanks
You have listed under "sorceries" a card called "Planar Rebirth," but that does not seem to be a card. Statistics tell me it probably says "destroy all creatures" or "destroy all creatures, which really might just be one Simic Sky Swallower," but I'm curious to know what it actually is.
I know there aren't really any generals that fit, but I would suggest W/R for the color combo, as that is the generally accepted color pair for any sort of vigilantism. Batman arguably has quite a bit of blue in him too, so you could go U/R/W if you'd like. W/R also has a strong justice and retribution theme. Flavor-wise, I guess Jor Kadeen or Argus Kos make the most sense here, but neither of them feel very Batman-like.
@NoxPsychic: I would argue, but our last several games were somewhat...one-sided.
@rollingthundah: Thanks for taking the time to comment. Firstly, I think you're right about more creatures=better, and those are reflected in the changelog. Mostly I took out the non-permanent acceleration for creatures that fill the same role. As for the cuts, because this is still largely theorycrafting, I am hesitant to cut these cards that on paper seem so good for the deck. I agree with the equilibrium/curio type of cards, and need to find places for them. Deglamer got cut for a creature that does pretty much the same thing. The other three seem so strong/in line with the deck's theme that I want to test them first. Thanks for the input
Well here I am once again, cannibalizing what was until recently my favorite deck to make yet another monstrosity. This time, at least, I can say I have grown as a player. Mostly because there is blue in the deck now. That's about it. Here is Animar and his fatty parade, which is close to as aggroey a deck I could make in these colors. It is designed to win with big guys coming in fast and frequently (sexyjoke), with some control to make sure that goes smoothly. This is a near-ideal decklist, which is fancy talk for "I don't have most of these cards." There are about 38 creatures here, which is feeling about right. I am at the point where making cuts is difficult, so if you have a suggestion, if it could be accompanied by wht to replace it with, I would greatly appreciate it . Let me know what you think!
I object to the chaos factor. I really hate cards that say "Nobody can have a strategy anymore" or "All strategies get thrown out, you now have a new strategy that you may never have wanted to do". I especially hate decks that don't have a strategy except to invalidate strategy as a concept.
I won't pick up my cards and storm out, but I might spend the rest of the game trying to make sure the caster of that card doesn't have any fun.
Agreed. I think the most important thing about these cards is to AGREE BEFOREHAND if its cool, especially with that silly anti-strategy deck. That said, if a deck can legitimately make good use of the chaos to win, more power to them, that's good deckbuilding.
Hm...I really like this guy. Johnnytastic, and can be built around in multiple ways. Although I do see him eating removal the second he resolves. Anyone else? I certainly will be killing him whenever I see him.
The name could come from Wizards playing on the word "cacophony." Judging by the flavor text, the demon makes such a loud, terrible sound that it kills everything! That was my first thought as to the meaning of the name. Beyond that, I'm not a huge fan. The "if you cast it from your hand" does it for me. Super splashy and swingy though, people will enjoy it.
But that Visara art is just amazing. I usually don't like the in-your-face cleavage-y arts, but that art is badass.
