Seeing nothing, Balton decides it's not worth trusting his vision in the darkness, and will compromise his now useless "advantage" for safety. "Shh. Listen. There's something lurking." Balton points in the direction from which he heard the noise.
Balton notices the unnatural silence and a very soft noise. He reloads his crossbow and looks in the direction of the noise in an attempt to make out what it is that he hears.
Larucan carries on with the group, having been silent the whole time, he finally speaks. "Why don't we do what he says?" Larucan asks, "Sure he's an untrustworthy vampire, but he has information we need, and the worst thing that I can imagine happening is we don't get the information we want. In which case, we can likely kill him, and we won't be in a different place than where we are now."
Doru nodded in agreement, "Sounds right," he said, eyeing the suspicious door on the right. Before carrying on, he decided to see if he couldn't find what seemed out of place.
Doru studied the wall surrounding the door. Search:

Doru then decided to determine if anything about the door was fake. Sense Motive:

Balton knew Avice's drunkenness would result in something like this. He let out a sigh and quickly turned his crossbow to face the goblin and fired a bolt at him.

Doru silently took his place in line down the stairs and entered the room, looking about, he concentrated very hard as to determine any secrets that may be in this chamber.

Quote from Slayer"s Handbook »
In Slayers there are no spells to read magical writing, identify magic items, or detect the use of magic.
Because of this, I was wondering if it would be okay with the DM if I were to make a Spellcraft check in order to detect any spells that may be in place. If so...
"Okay," Balton said, sighing with frustration. He pointed his crossbow at Avice, keeping at a safe distance, "Please. Shut. Up." He glanced back over to the goblin, so that he might not be caught off guard.
"Thanks," Doru said receiving his gear from Abatiste, "So are we just going to stand here, or....?" Doru put a pinky in his ear, trying to get some of the water out by force. This was his way of patience.
Jack let out a series of coughs and deep inhalations as the ash and smoke filled his lungs. Past the screaming and shouting, Jack yelled at the other two, "We have to find shelter!" Underground, he thought, next to flying, that's where it would be safest. Jack turned to Dylan, "Do we have access to a chopper? If not, we need to get below the city, quickly."
Jack noticed Dylan trying to coax Belinda into response. He also noticed that there wasn't time for coaxing. Jack quickly attempted to grab Belinda and push her behind the nearest source of cover. And, if he had time, Jack also dove behind that cover.
