Went to the SCG Open this past weekend. Didn't do very well, but my round 1 in legacy was glorious.

My Smallpox v RUG Delver. It's a very good matchup for me but he does win game 2. Game 3, he hits Cursed Scroll and Mishra's Factory with Surgical Extraction, leaving me with zero cards left that can deal damage and excising 5 cards from my library. However, I destroyed every land in his deck that could produce colored mana. At game's end, I have a Liliana with over 20 counters, there are no cards in either library, and I win the match because he was on the draw and drew as many extra cards as he had removed from my library.

On the art issue, I am quite fond of Pharika's Cure, it is quite beautiful, yet dark and mysterious. For the name I am liking the first idea more as well, but I will try to see if I can conjure something better.

I like that art as well.

Must have missed ya. Had a lot of fun playing in the opens for T2 (BW Zombies) and Legacy (Smallpox).

Oh that's even worse than Delta. At least Delta is the best card for what it does. Grim isn't even a good tutor... acceptable, but far from the best and compared to others, nowhere worth what it costs in terms of game play. I hate cards that are only expensive because of rarity.

I had Diabolic Tutor in a life-centric EDH deck so I had the barest justification for it. Smile

I've had my fetchlands forever, sans a small break when they started messing with Extended's rotation. When Onslaught's rotation out of extended was approaching I sold all my fetches, then they changed their mind and I bought them back at a small loss. Some time after that I started looking at EDH or Legacy (can't recall which) and figured I'd hold onto them.

I loved opening ONS packs. ONS/MIR was T2 when I started playing, and they had such cool cards in them.

The worst part is that it's only somewhat better than a $.05 land in half the decks out there AND it will probably get reprinted in the next block. It's still nice to have that feeling of completeness that I don't have the joy of having... it and Mana Drain are really the only cards I want and don't own.

Grim Tutor was the last item on my list. Was a good feeling to finally complete it.

So then I had to make a new list of cards I have the wrong version of...

On that note, I really need to upgrade my Ravages of War to English. :p

Edit: I should really be studying for my Security+ cert this afternoon... Anyone take that test recently?

As for Codex... when's that releasing? I can't seem to figure it out. It looks to have been in development for quite a long time.

He doesn't have a release date at the moment, and is similarly keeping a lot of mechanics and whatnot under wraps.

Also similarly, the lack of release date is primarily due to cost of art assets.

EDIT: Actually, I can't talk too much about it here (no mechanics or anything). All I can say without my lawyer yelling at me a lot (and I do mean *a lot* is that it's a sci-fi strategic card game with a unique combat system and a detailed resource aspect.

Always good to get some new ideas out there.

I don't have any actual study or anything to back this up, but it seems like the biggest problem is that people already involved in one TCG are loathe to pickup another one. This would be a huge problem from a market-share standpoint.

At any rate, try to avoid releasing it at the same time as Codex. Smile

I'm pretty sure there's an explainable reason for that, for now I shall just assume your ears got blown off and it's not as fun to watch if you can't hear/feel the suspense.

    That must be it.

    Definitely.

There were a lot of good moments but the overall behavior of most characters was just pitiable.

I xcan see the new murder being mainboardable, the the coolest card revealed from last night spoilers, was the whip it looks like it's going to be so sweet in any mono-black builds.

For T2 purposes, it's of note that Obzedat's exile trigger trumps the Whip's exile clause.

    Hero's Downfall is great.

The problem I have with the idea of double-sleeving your cards to protect them from getting bent during riffle shuffling is that it seems to me that the very act of trying to double-sleeve cards would create moderate risk of bending the cards, which kind of defeats the purpose of it.

Double-sleeving is a great way to protect your cards. I've heard of people having problems bending the cards when using the Ultra-Pro perfect fits, but I've heard of no such problems with the KMC ones.

Double-sleeving will not appreciably protect against damage from riffle shuffling.

I've been thinking long and hard about vengevine.
Has anyone really made great use of him?

I find it's just too rare I am casting 2 creatures a turn when he's in the graveyard to make up for the times that he's not really what I want to be doing in most of my green decks (4/3 haste)

... Nor is it really easy to build a deck that abuses him.

Has anyone else found this? or has the card performed very well for you?

Fwiw, I dont support green agro that much.

I doubt I'll ever cut Vengevine, and I don't have much green aggro support either. I'll grant a lot of the times I've seen him resurrect involved Eternal Witness, but even without that ability he's very useful. Especially against planeswalkers.

Are you sure you mean Vindicate and not Terminate? Vinidicate is a b/w card and one of the best cards in my cube, not a b/r card.

If it's Spike Jester v Terminate, I went with Spike Jester.

So anyone know a good place to order hyper mats from? Im having a hard time at my usual spots. I definitely want to try them because I love my KMC mattes but I hate the baconing at the top.

www.potomacdist.com will do 10 packs shipped for $63.

I'm was wanting to re-sleeve my cube anyway, and people have been putting up many good words for these.

Not my money, I just hate WB cards. Smile

I would say that the next commander product is close enough that I'm putting off a few decisions until that's all spoiled.
