Why? does your LGS have this rule where you can't just pay for the product and leave?
You seem up set over this, its a shame that you think everything must be tailor made for the way you want to play the game.
i'm upset about gimmicks watering down the experience of playing magic. when i'm playing kitchen table magic with my crew, we're not trying to mix things up with "implicit mazes" or stuff. the most gimmicky we'll get is EDH. if my group were to go to our LGS for the THS prerel, i can think of maybe two people who would think the gimmick improved the experience, and the majority of us would probably see it as a distraction.
for me, prerels are about getting new cards and playing MTG. if this is a bad thing, that's fine, i have no qualms about leaving the game again. my wife's already mad at the amount of money i've spent on two total set releases.
I prefer the gimmicky prereleases, more fun than just playing regular sealed.
If I wanted to play sealed with the try hards I'd get on the pro tour train.
for me, attending a prerelease isn't about "winning a sealed tournament" and it sure isn't about "stupid gimmicks". it was about getting cards from the new set before any of my friends, since very few of them went to prereleases. but now, for me to be able to achieve that simple goal of "getting new cards first" i have to wade through gimmicky horsenonsense. OH, YOU CAN GET THESE NEW CARDS FROM THIS AMAZING NEW SET...IF YOU AND YOUR CHOICE OF HERO CAN DEFEAT THE HYDRA! blech
Amongst the majority of people who attend prereleases, you are definitely in the minority. The most recent prereleases with the special events have been loved by the people attending them.
the prereleases i attended back in the day (PC, FS, LOR, and SHM) were loved by the people attending them, too. so by your logic, you're in the minority.
hero and hydra cards...ehh, not feeling it. not certain why prerel / release events need gimmicks now. the maze, and now this. remember when it was just limited, and you got a tournament pack and a couple boosters? no silly gimmicks?
just in time for me to rebuild my old selesnya deck come the most BEAUTIFUL selesnya-themed sleeves i've ever seen. definitely purchasing them and the box.
trostani's summoner is quite possibly the silliest selesnya card in a block full of silly selesnya cards and a silly mechanic in populate.
old selesnya is looking at that card and laughing. someone already mentioned how great that is with doubling season. watch that card get a ton of play in casual selesnya decks.

i thought this was a d'awwww moment. but the kid is right. pokemon has official coins. why not magic?
you and i are going to have to agree to disagree then. i liked when prereleases were just "play with the new cards".
OMFG I NEED A CHANGE OF PANTS THAT FRAME IS JUST CARDBOARD SEX
so how much red mana is setessa gonna tap for?
you might want to sig that, because that's the best prediction i've seen thus far for theros.
storm is gone for good. thank nylea.
this card is getting so much hate you would think it was a new mudhole.
wow, i didn't realize that, you just made this card playable to me. i still don't see it going nuts in constructed though.
