Also it's not just "a game." I hope when you have kids you support them in their dreams. It's called happiness and the pursuit of it. Please don't crush your damn children's dreams just because you deem their occupation of choice as "unworthy."

Personal Opinion: Get a new dream. It's a video game for crying out loud. It seems to me like your wife married a computer instead of a human. She wants attention, to spend time with you, not to just wait for you like it's some appointment. That's not fair to her, she wants to spend time with you, but your requests are simply unreasonable given what she wants.
She can't spend 10 hours without me? Normal people work 8-10 hours. We spend all day every day together.

My dream for half my life has been to be a professional StarCraft player. I have the means to follow my dream. I go to college full time, and I get paid to go to school. I could easily play SC2 12 hours a day and still get all my schoolwork done. I have 2 more years until I finish my bachelors.
So what is stopping me from just playing? I have 12 hours of free time a day, what is the problem? Well, I can't play. I am married, and me and my wife live in a tiny apartment in new york. Our computers are next to eachother. She becomes very depressed and has tons of emotional problems when I play. She absolutely has to have someone to talk to all day long. She's a social animal and I prefer to be alone. She's the only other human being I like to talk to. However, for me to play sc2 and put forth a 100% effort, I need her to not talk to me while I'm playing.
We have discussed it in the past. She agreed to leave me alone while I play and I would pursue my dream. I would play 10-12 hours a day and then spend the rest of the day with her. However that only lasted about 4 days before she started getting depressed. She gets angry all the time and she takes it out on everything except me. She cannot seem to function without me. This scenario has happened maybe 3 times now and I stop playing because of it. She doesn't work due to many health problems. We typically just play world of warcraft together. The only reason I even play wow is to keep her happy.
But every day I get more and more depressed. I can't stop thinking about how I have a real opportunity right now to follow my dream, and this is the only time I will have in my whole life where I would be able to dedicate the time necessary to achieve this.
We don't have a lot of money. I can't spend money on stuff to keep her entertained. I just wish that I could spend my 10+ hours playing sc2, and spend the rest of the day doing schoolwork and with her. I've tried it and it just doesn't work. She still just gets extremely depressed and moody and I have to stop playing. She doesn't realize that she is the reason that I'm not playing. I'm scared to tell her because I feel like that will just cause her to become instantly depressed.
I wouldn't even bother with this if I didn't think I had the potential. The most I've ever played the damn game is a week straight. I was getting into high masters from low diamond in that week. I've finished 4 seasons as masters. I've only been able to play a couple days in each season which is an abysmally low number of games played seeing as I've owned the game since the day it came out. My total career games is 2,500 and maybe half of those are team games from playing with friends back when the game first came out. I was in the military for the first 2 years the game was out but I couldn't play at all because I was always deployed or tdy or working insane hours. (12-16 hours a day for 6 weeks straight with only a couple days off isn't good for sc2 lol). Now I've been married for almost 2 years and I've barely played even though I have tons of free time.
I would play more, I would even play casually but the fact that I need to focus on the game causes my wife to get upset. She will try to talk to me or show me silly pictures on facebook, and when I don't hear her she gets angry and upset. I don't play the game even for fun because of this. I can't even play for a couple hours a day because of the negative repercussions that come with it.
Nowadays I just sit and play WoW with her which isn't even very fun at all for either of us. They ruined WoW IMO. Sometimes I play League of Legends because I can hear what she is saying and look away to see what she is showing me. It's a much easier game to play and requires little attention to play well. However LoL is pretty boring. Playing ranked or unranked is always a battle of who won't be playing support. The meta bores me as well. I got to gold league of LoL but the game is just not fun for me. I only play ARAM if I play it at all because it's more fun than ranked or unranked play.
I don't know what to do. I don't know how I can tell her that she's stopping me from playing. I also don't know what to do even if I do start playing. How can i keep her from becoming depressed. How can I keep her happy? I love her more than anything but I really want nothing more in the world than to have a solid shot at my dream. Even if I don't make it, I still want to have a good year of playing hardcore before I can really throw in the towel and say "well I just don't have what it takes." you know?
I don't smoke. I don't see any reason why I would have any kind of anxiety. All I do is go to school and get paid for it lol. I was in the military and was homeless and just been through a hell of a lot and never had breathing problems before. Maybe I have "life is too good" anxiety haha. Not enough struggle to push my airways open!
When I woke up this morning I had trouble breathing just like at night. It drove to school and it didn't go away until just before I got there.
My nose has been clogged for my entire life. It switches from side to side so I breath through my mouth at night. Its been like that my entire life though, literally since I was like 4. It used to drive me insane that one nostril was clogged at all times. Afrin clears it up but I can't use it all the time its bad for you.
Every day before I go to sleep for the past two weeks I've been having trouble breathing. That little soft spot on your neck between the collar bones feels like there is something blocking my throat. Well there is...and its mucus because I can cough up some of the mucus and I can breathe again before my throat fills up again. Its only that little spot though at least that's how it feels.
I've tried Googling it but the only results I can find talk about panic attacks. None of them said anything about having a panic attack and clearing their throat with a cough and being able to breathe fine mid attack lol. I don't think its that. I have nothing to panic about although from the reading I did panic attacks seem to happen for absolutely no reason for a lot of people.
Anyways, does anybody have any ideas? Don't tell me to see a doctor I'm poor with no insurance. That's what happens when you go to college to follow your dreams lol.
It does eventually go away in maybe 30-60 minutes. Either that or maybe I just drift off and forget about it. I'm pretty good at going all "Zen" clearing my mind and falling asleep.
It really sucks though and tends to keep me up a lot longer than I want to be

I understand how the business model is supposed to work. But take magic for example, a booster box has an msrp of like $80 or something right? But the price can double simply because we speculate that the value from the cards will be a lot, and it will have a lot of sought after tournament staples. The market isn't really using supply and demand it seems, and I feel like the economy is running that way on a lot of things like gas for instance.
This gives me another question though. In the US at one time the economy prospered, we all know that. It failed, and we revamped it by getting people to spend their money on things they didn't need. If these big companies outsource jobs to make products cheaper, so that more people can buy them, then why do minimum wage workers pretty much make just enough money to pay the rent, buy food, and maybe TV and internet. And sometimes not even that, people have to use government assistance to stay afloat. If them sending jobs over seas really helped the lower class buy products, its not really doing anything since they don't have the money to buy anything beyond the bare essentials. I mean maybe this problem stems into housing and taxes, since a minimum wage job in new york city can't even pay the rent by itself unless you have government assistance. Why aren't these low costs on goods translating into a better economy for us? I feel like this is where things are going wrong.
Edit: This reminds me, I was saying that a lot of low wage people use government assistance to get by. (lets ignore the fact that most people think anybody on government assistance is just lazy). Why can't we pay them enough to get by without using taxpayer money? Do we need to outsource their jobs, and them find them a place higher up in the business infrastructure? Basically in a "perfect" world, all of Americans would be in business suits managing the companies which have outsourced all the jobs to other poor countries. I guess that's the goal right? lol.

Edit: I really want to take an economics class or two. I do research and learn stuff in school but an economics class isn't available for me under my current major, at least not as far as I know. I just started at a new school so I have yet to find out. This stuff interests me because I wish I knew how to fix the economy. I grew up poor and I feel like things could be better especially in the US where we are supposed to be "the greatest country in the world". But there's a billion topics all which tie into each other so I just have to tackle them one at a time.
I'm not trying to argue about slavery here, and I'm not saying that outsourced jobs are a form of slavery. All I'm saying is that the companies who outsource jobs, pay their workers about the same amount of money as it would require to keep a slave alive (food shelter clothing).
Imagine if in the U.S. we still had slavery. Slaves worked all the low paying jobs like assembly line workers and stuff like that. The companies which owned the slaves would obviously have to shelter them and feed them, maybe provide some clothing...and basically just give them the things they need to live so that they can keep on working and earning the company a profit.
We all know many large companies outsource their jobs to poor countries like Mexico and China for larger profits. I wonder if it would still be cheaper to pay the workers in poor countries so little, than it would to simply feed and shelter slaves if we had them.
I know I know, we don't have slaves. But our economy is messed up right now, there is no arguing that. It makes me wonder, does a stable economy rely on "slave" labor? Do other developed nations outsource their menial jobs to poorer countries? I know its not actually slave labor, but the cost is pretty similar to slave labor. I also know that these companies may or may not be an actual help to the poor countries. Maybe they are helping, I don't really know.

I totally have an issue with it, I really fail to see how giving a soldier his arms back would be better for the world than giving a neurosurgeon who lost his in a car accident.
Military personnel CHOSE to join the military, therefore they don't deserve anything special. They deserve whats coming to them. What they do is nothing special for this country, a neurosurgeon is worth a million times what one soldier is worth. It's not like they were slaves or anything.

As someone who is a veteran I think we should get some priority on some things. But as far as new arms and legs, it should just be first come first serve, and I bet any other military member or veteran would agree with me and would probably even give up the transplant to someone else who needed it. Because when you join the military you join to serve your country and we have that self sacrifice ideal inside of all of us.
The last FNM I went to I pulled 4 Lotleth trolls from the packs I won. I had bought one of the premade red/black decks because I had no standard legal cards yet, and I traded for a few cards to improve the deck. Anyways everyone was like "aww Lotleth troll, too bad nobody plays zombies anymore cause it sucks".
But I want to play a black/green deck, and I was looking at the bg zombies and I think it looks pretty good. I don't see why it should be bad now. But what do I know about the current meta? Any input on this topic? I zombies is in the "proven competetive" section, but I guess they did real well and first and then fell off?
I live in Ohio and live on less than $8000/year, that's without any roommates, and I'm not in college (I already graduated, with multiple degrees). Envying the lifestyle of someone lucky enough to work at McDonalds sucks, but such is life. It certainly gives you a different perspective on things.
Travis Woo once said on his stream how much he gets per article, I did the math assuming one article/week and that came to about $18,000. Sam Black gets enough from his writing/streaming that he's able to afford all the GP's (which isn't profitable) but going by his stream he seems to have several roommates so his expenses are probably pretty low. I seriously doubt anyone that supports themselves fully off of Magic averages more than 20k/year.
Food, I take it you've never heard of things like 30 cent packs of ramen once a day or $3 frozen pizzas. Lodging well... I have a 15'x10' apartment, I'll just assume you're joking about health care, and there's thrift stores for clothing. No one ever mentioned having money for fun stuff.
