I would try something similar to Caw-Blade.. Use the birds to hit people with Sword of Body and Mind.
You don't have any fogs, so it's reasonable to assume that you're going to get beat on by aggro decks fairly easily. I would drop the Traumatizes for Timely Reinforcements. The extra life is usually enough to trounce RDW.
Because you're playing mill, I see no reason not to have Surgical Extraction in your sideboard. After one connection with a sworded bird, you pretty much have all the targets you could ask for. Not to mention you can snipe your opponent's Mana Leaks, Lightning Bolts, or other good things.
I would play this guy in Zirilan of the Claw" target="blank">Zirilan of the Claw, where artifacts are heavily used to make up for the fact that you're playing mono red.
I'd use him in a GUB graveyard shenanigans deck like The Mimeoplasm, or in a dedicated mill deck like Szadek, Lord of Secrets. Otherwise, he's probably never going to get his ultimate off.
@op: I really like all the Jace's. I think Jace1.0 is the best one to use if you want card draw that flies under the radar. Jace2.0 is the nuts. Jace3 seems like the most restrictive in it's design; his +0 ability is his way of asking for an Ass Whuppin' if you're using it on your opponents.
I would find room for Hatred because of the flavor. When you play it, it's as though your general is using his signature move to finish the fight. Bonus style points if you use this to kill your friend's Gerrard Capashen deck.
I try to not run 2 card infinite combos. I'm interested in seeing more of a person's deck than some lands, some tutors, Kiki Jiki, and a Pestermite. Combos like Spin Into Myth ---> Tunnel Vision also make me sad.
That said, I've used both of those combos in decks that have since been taken apart or had the combo taken out. Why did I do this? Well it was simple really: I didn't have the card pool to make as competitive a deck as those of my friends or the players at my LGS. After a few months of drafting and trading I was able to build something fun and competitive that didn't degenerate into a deck that I was bored with.
I like this format because it isn't as degenerative as any other. However, I'm concerned that it is becoming more degenerative than when I started.
On a side note: I want to make a deck where the only creature in the deck is Phage the Untouchable so that Bribery kills my opponent. It will probably only work once, but I'll have a good laugh about it.

I suggest something like this:
4 Squadron Hawk
2 Spellskite
Artifact
3 Sword of Body and Mind
Sorcery
3 Timely Reinforcements
3 Day of Judgment
2 Ponder
4 Archive Trap
4 Mana Leak
4 Visions of Beyond
Enchantment
2 Oblivion Ring
Planeswalker
3 Jace, Memory Adept
2 Giddeon Jura
4 Surgical Extraction
3 Ratchet Bomb
2 Mental Misstep
2 Dismember
2 Oblivion Ring
1 Timely Reinforcements
1 Day of Judgment
Contested War Zone could be pretty awesome. And you could help someone kill someone else in multiplayer.
+1 to Martial Coup and Hero of Bladehold
edit: I forgot to mention Brass Herald and Adaptive Automaton
Your deck needs Steamflogger Boss.
I was going to suggest graveyard shenanigans with Dralnu, Lich Lord or Wrexial, the Risen Deep.

I usually include Skullclamp in my decks, it's just too easy to get massive card advantage out of this thing.
Winter Orb
Static Orb
Tanglewire
Meekstone
Mishra's Helix (something of a pet card of mine)
Tax effects are good for this too; even if someone manages to generate some mana, they still wont be able to play much.
Grand Arbiter Augustin IV
Trinisphere
Squeeze
Thorn of Amethyst
Sphere of Resistance
Aura of Silence
... and so on.
Some good cards that help manipulate artifacts would be good too:
Goblin Welder (the king)
Master Transmuter
Arcum Dagsson
Arcbound Reclaimer
Junk Diver
Academy Ruins
Buried Ruin
I would play black/red/blue just because black has crazy good tutors and hand disruption. But that's me.
"Oh, so it's like a Time Spiral."
"Yeah, but you don't draw any cards."
"... What?!"
For mana, since you're in black, you can use Bubbling Muck when you have Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth in play.

Expedition Map
Saffi Eriksdotter
Yavimaya Elder
Qasali Pridemage
Buried Ruin
There are also all the Spellbombs and stuff similar to those.
Yes. I'm saying it would be funny if they took it without knowing that there is the possibility of failing to search.
Take that Homeward Path
