At least in my play group, we'd say it doesn't even see the turn.

For example, we play that Luminarch Ascension doesn't trigger off of turns that are outside the players ROI

My copy is 311 pages, It ends with the old man cutting off the story and Ilcaster wanting to know what happened to Ertai/the Predator (the set up for masques/nemesis).

    Last paragraph:

He let the last manuscript page of The Rath Cycle slip from his fingers and flutter gently to the floor. Then he turned his back on the rest of the library and walked through the doors into the sunlight.

    Here ends the Rath Cycle

Say you want to summon a knight, you can summon the ideal knight from the aether, and he will be your sturdy fighting just as good as any other, knight. But it is just a figment, the idea of a knight, it doesn't live beyond your use of it. Or you can call on allies and summon an actual being to aid you, pulling them across planes to fight for you. Both work, different flavor, mostly depends on how the author chooses to go with it. I like to think both are viable. (and who knows maybe there is a different amount of mana or skill required to pull off either)

    Quote from Barinellos
Elspeth was found by a Vulshok woman, not a Sylvok.
Having said that, I thought it said that the girl was named Melira somewhere in that article.

    ahh whoops, totally confused vulshok/sylvok.
looking forward to see if they give this mystery person a card/story

"He's discovered a protégé, a strange Sylvok girl whose body is an aberration on Mirrodin—she is pure, completely untouched by metal. He's training her for war, honing her skills in combat and healing, such that her odd gifts may prove to tip the scales for the Mirrans in the conflict to come."

from the last paragraph of today's article WAR

I don't know if we've been shown any non-metal infused sylvok, the only thing that comes to mind is that Elspeth was found by that sylvok woman in the 2nd part of Scarred.
Maybe elspeth is the one being trained to fight (and stop running away), and maybe that explains why they say "Her odd gifts", as she is a plansewalker?

The Thran + The Ice Age cycle are some of my favorite books of the entire Magic the Gathering Series, and among my favorite books in general.

I have yet to read Ravnica my self, but will hit that next. I just finished Future Sight a while back as well, and while I waited for the Ravnica books to arrive I read "And Peace Shall Sleep", the Sarpadia based book. It was a great read, and I'd highly recommend it.

  • posted a message on Just finished Future Sight, and I had a few questions
Firsst of all, I thought the Time Spiral block of books was great. I really enjoyed seeing the old characters come back into the mix (albeit to die sealing the rifts).

I have read most of the storyline thus far (the thran, colors of magic, myths of magic, brothers war -> apocalypse, the ice age books, odyssey -> 1/2 through scourge when i lost interest, lorwyn, morningtide)
I have not read ravnica, mirrodin, or kamigawa however, and that might lead to some of my confusion,

Some questions I had on future sight (bolded my questions as i tend to bury them in text):

When Bolas and Leshrac are dueling, they pass through many planes, i recognized mercadia, and i am pretty sure they were miles over ravnica at some point, but what was the plane that they described as being two pieces, with the guardians standing with crossed spears saying "you cannot enter"?

Also during the Bolas/Leshrac fight, Bolas puffed out some blue clouds that were described as "an unmaking spell", is this a reference to some specific spell? i Am pretty sure i caught the references to the other spells correctly (ie. leshrac's minion, etc.), but this one eluded me.

With the Mask of Night stuff, I have not read kamigawa or it's wiki, but why are there two masks at all? i understood that the spirit that approached leshrac gave it a mask, but i assumed that was the mask it was wearing while still on the run from bolas.

Having given up on Scourge half way through (i got tired of the chapters with sash and waist coat), I never saw the resolution of what happened to Karona. I have read the wiki's a little and the book kind of describes khamal chopping her down as karona, bringing her to jeska planeswalker. However does she still have Phage / Karona(and by extension zagkora/akroma) within her? Her corruption abilities are obviously there as Leshrac was able to sap them from her, but i am wondering what the extent of her returning to jeska was? I suppose i should just go back and finish the book, but i really want to read mirrodin or ravnica/the 'walker books with scars coming out.

and i will probably get yelled at someone for asking this, but was the demonic leviathan bolas fought an eldrazi? or just some random plansewalker (yes i was one of the people hoping marit lage would turn up to be an eldrazi)

I know there are a bunch of other questions i had while reading but they escape me at the moment. The only other question I have is more of a speculation. Given that Venser left to 'walk the multiverse with still no magical abilities besides his teleporting, and now with the Scars of Mirrodin previews we see him (Venser, the Sojourner) with the ability to blink permanents, make them unblockable, and make it so you can exile them with every spell, I was curious if anyone else thought maybe he came back and spent some time training with Teferi?

I mean the blinking permanents ability, sounds like a short term phase spell, the unblockable could be similar, and the exile on spell casts sounds like a permanent phase-out attached to all your spells. I mean i personally imagined phasing more to work like suspend (as a mechanic), but exile and return seems to fit pretty well as well.

Now 2HG, i see it is fine (as you need 60). but what about if you have this as the Archenemy (where you start with 40), and for that matter how does Archenemy handle Felidar Sovereign
