Zahira smiled and nodded encouragingly at Wynn's words of wisdom, but also spoke a soft warning to her companions, especially to her 'student': "Yet we must never keep our guard down. Whether in war or peace, there are always amongst our fellow beings those who would have the life drained from our body if they were to have the chance."

Zahira did not feel strong with snow under her feet, and so she thought back to her homeland, the rolling plains of Benalia, and its power and majesty was soon in her veins. She realized the best way to go was to hold off the goblins, and confuse them if possible. "Let me hold them off for a moment, then strike." she spoke in a clear tone, a command as much as Wynn's words were. "... Unless they don't break the law of course, but they probably will, knowing goblins." It was as much a joke as a lesson, for an Azorius that did not abide the law wasn't an Azorius, that meant as much as 'let them strike first'.

Squinting her eyes against the sharp wind and bright background of snow, she tries to determine the name and nature of the advancing creatures, and to discern their intentions, drawing upon the teachings of the man she now so vividly remembers to do so.

If Zahira was anything, it would be vigilant. But the necessity of pushing onward despite of the invisible threat lurking in apparently every dark corner, behind every sharp turn, grew heavier. She thought it preferable to be in, or even better out again, by nightfall, because who knew what wretched things the slow passing of time in this abandoned place might have spawned?

Shirin was attracted to the chest, she felt an invisible chain pull her towards it. Her mind screamed for her to resist, but at the same time sought a way to unlock it. But... in a realm of thought, was it not thought that could unlock anything, like a dreamer could steer his own dream with the necessary amount of willpower? She thought then of nothing more than the opening of the lock, pouring her will into the apparent keyhole as if it were acid that melted through the metal.

Even if she wasn't ready, she had to. The only path Shirin could take that moment, was the one that pleased Whitney. She set her mind to work, reaching out with long tendrils of thought to probe Whitney's mind, gain a foothold from which she could leap into that vast ocean of thought and knowledge. Without, of course, letting herself get overwhelmed... Shirin hoped she could.

"So, um... can... should I try it on you?" Shirin asked, which was perhaps stating the obvious, but with Shirin some things just weren't ever obvious enough until she was assured of it by someone. That... and she was a bit nervous about connecting her mind with Whitney's, as she didn't know what the consequences were, what unwanted things could, unknowingly or not, happen.

A hint of embarrassment lighted up on Shirin's face, for she hadn't really wanted to make the confrontation go this way, but she quickly shrugged the feelings off. "Yes, let's." she said then, resolutely. "I thought that mental powers... telepathy and the sorts, were very important as well, and I couldn't practice that without a partner. So... I suppose we could start with that. At least, it's something that really has my interest..." Perhaps it would turn out to be foolish.. but all she thought about now was the things she might learn, not the things - personal things - it might reveal.

Zahira was nervous, perhaps it was fear for monstrous beings that might be out there, perhaps it was that she doubted her own abilities too much. Someone who doesn't judge me by how I look or how social I am. Or am I wrong?" Shirin asked, trying to get at least that out before her words would make her emotions burst out. She had her gaze fixed upon Whitney's pendant, falling just between the girl's gentle curves... damn it! She tried to focus... she focused so hard, remembering every link in the chain, every angle of the crystal. And then she felt something in her hand, something cold and smooth. Surprised by the ease she had conjured the necklace, she brought her hand in front of her. Grasping onto the chain, she let gravity pull the crystal down so that it hung there for Whitney to see. "I believe this is yours?" she said with a slim smile. For now her thoughts too seemed to be focused more on her newest feat than on Whitney's physical presence.

She knew however, that this was her chance to at least impress Whitney a little, instead of making herself look pathetic. She tried with all her might to force the staff into being without closing her eyes. Luckily she could normally muster a fair amount of concentration if needed, but whether it would be enough? Don't doubt, just... do it for HER! Something in her mind seemed to whisper, but at that moment she wasn't sure whether it was herself, the mysterious voice that was her mentor, or just a figment of her imagination that acted weird. All she saw was the pendant she wanted to change into a staff and the image - the beautiful, beautiful image - of Whitney in the background.

Zahira smiled at Jenika's modesty. Modesty was one of the most important traits for a Senator to have, and so far Jenika proved not just by skill but also by heart to be an Azorius. Another important trait was being able to judge well, but Jenika would learn that later, and it would be a painstaking process, as it had been for Zahira in the past. She knew this, for she started to more and more vividly remember the teachings of her oldest master, the wizard of the coast the commoners had called him.

Zahira gave Wynn an approving smile, she was quite confident that this would work out well. At the same time though, she realized that she was appointed to Wynn for her defense against any big threats that the wilderness that lay beyond the city held and that might cross their path.

She approached one of the horses a bit nervously, for since she had lost her memories she had not ridden a horse, but old experience took over when her fingers closed around the reins. A moment later, with the gracious movements of a professional (for her oldest mentor had learned her how to ride a horse) she was seated in the saddle.

Without doubt, Whitney had sensed Shirin's presence as well, and in a focused state as this, Shirin actually thought about this and kept her thoughts on low profile, for she knew Whitney could read them if the girl wanted.

She took a deep breath to steady her and walked towards where the trace of magic in the air went; to Whitney.

Shirin sighed, not really sure what the best choice was, but certainly she shouldn't waste more time... On an impulse she just put the pendant safely around her neck and grasped some fitting clothes from the drawer after glancing over the options. Dumping the sweaty clothes she had woke up with in a pile in the corner, something she wouldn't normally do, she stood in front of the mirror putting on the fresh clothes. Into the mirror she stared, trying to look through her own eyes, into the depths of her mind to find those secrets locked within...

She was quite astonished about that fact, but it appeared Wynn wanted her attention as well, so she turned her attention to the conversation. Shirin asked the voice inside her head, she felt cornered, on the brink of panic, and the voice meddling in this business only worsened that feeling. And seriously, couldn't this bus go any faster?! She needed to be at school, where few payed attention to her, here she just felt stared at... Above all, she needed to see Whitney there.

As Shirin's mind struggled her heart kept pounding faster and faster. A blush lit her face a light red, as the only thing she could recall was in all detail visible inside her mind's eye: Whitney's face, her hair wild, a slim smile on her lips and in her eyes a look of both confusion and... passion? It only confused Shirin more, and thus she tried to focus on the music she was listening to rather than thinking about Whitney, as the bus drove on.

Zahira sat back against her pillow, trying to find some more comfort in it. Meanwhile her senses were fixed on the door, waiting to hear and possibly see what was going on.

"I'll update you as soon as I know a little more, and then I'll switch languages, okay?" Shilana thought back while waiting for Deekins to answer her.

"I understand." Shirin thought back, before returning to her meal. Within 10 minutes she was done eating and went upstairs again to do the few makeup things she ever did. Oddly, she felt like she had to be more beautiful today than she had ever been. That was exactly what she looked like, with surprisingly little effort, when she rushed down the stairs 5 minutes later to catch the bus.

"Uh-huh." Shirin mumbled as she took a bite and sat down with her breakfast. Meanwhile, she focused hard to speak back to the voice in a telepathic way, while she also pondered on the complete meaning of the voice's words "You mean Whitney? What should I make her alert of?"

"Yeah, I guess I did!" Shirin said with a smile as she made herself a few slices of bread "Better than most days to be honest." She checked the time to calculate how much time she'd left for the eating and other morning rituals like brushing her teeth.

Plowing through the haze of sleepiness, Shirin walks to her wardrobe and gets dressed in the first things she gets her hands on; an Anathema t-shirt, plain jeans, a plain, black sweatshirt and underwear of course. After making sure her schoolbags ready and taking a quick shower she's finally awake and goes downstairs for breakfast, taking her bag with her.
