Ok seeing how it's practically impossible to join in the snowball conversation
I think I’m just going to have a go at the op
Firstly there is something deeply paradoxical about your choice of title
Theists.... Atheism is a belief in itself, and as such it is an religion not the lack of it...
It is as you yourself pointed out the denial of a divine existence.
Now to your question how can one justify the belief in a supremely divine being?
I’m going to be a real pest now and answer your question with a Question
How can you deny the possibility of a divine existence?
Humans are as should be obvious by the entire trial and error learning process the human species are going through
not all knowing… Humanity haven’t so far been able to unlock all the secrets there is to itself yet let alone the rest of the planet…
How can one deny the existence of something with this pathetic amount of knowledge ?
Is it not just as futile as hardheadedly insisting on the existence of a divine omnipotent being?
Is it not as futile as pronouncing science or religion as the ultimate truth?
Nothing in this world has humanity fully grasped, science is not the ultimate truth, it is what humanity has theorized so far…
And religion is a philosophical viewpoint to bring structure to this chaotic existence
To me the agnostic point of view would be the most reasonable way of going through this existence, the belief in what you can see and touch, what can be proven and disapproved, not the outright denial of what we have no comprehension of…
To me atheism is the equivalent to the so misplaced understanding that the ancient people of this earth believed the world was flat and the supposed dogma that denied anyone to think otherwise (This is of course not the truth as the ancient people of Egypt is proof of) ….
To disapprove of something without valid proof is…. Dogmatic… and well… Illogical from a scientific point of view…
I myself am a pantheist is believe that the divinity exist in nature and everything born from it. Nature is absolute perfection; no scientist would dare deny it… And no religious individual would disapprove of the fact… Everything we do is nothing before the marvels of creation…
I believe in it because it gives me purpose, it gives me peace and it gives me hope. To know that everything and everyone is part of a greater whole...
These are just my ramblings… Make of them whatever you want …
The greatest threat to progress is dogma, bureaucracy and imprisonment of free thought…
How is one ever to understand the world if one rules out possibilities that haven’t been disproven?
What harm can faith have as long as it goes hand in hand with reason, love and understanding?
I believe in god…you may not.. But what one can take from religion is the belief in the ideal not the idol….
The teachings of peace love and respect… Humans are social creatures… They didn’t make it this far by embracing greed and the self… Humans have survived because of their ability to work together... The teachings are what matter... Even if one chooses to deny religion it doesn’t hurt to be unselfish. Rather the savior than the tyrant eh?
So in the end I can justify being a theist because I so choose, because it brings sense and purpose to the world…
Free will, peace, love and an open mind….
Now you may have a go with your torches and pitchforks..

Jun 17, 2011Posted in: The Rumor MillQuote from Jake1991I'm loving that Knight. I hope there's some Knight tribal to make sense of the push it had in Mirrodin Besieged.
Also, I want that aura!!
You forgot the line "Enchant creature" on the auras.
I did say crude didn't I
Jun 17, 2011Put the pictures, the flavor text and the rest together in a crude mtg set editor muckup... Gives some kind of idea of how they look like.. The art seems quite flashy... I would have anticipated something more toned.. Some of it seems to scream to each-other.. As if they were from a different set..Posted in: The Rumor Mill
Jun 21, 2010Posted in: The Rumor MillQuote from ArvenAs a land collector, I know there's nothing to see here, as all these arts are reprints.
In fact, it's sort of a shame, the original MPS lands lose some value from this =/
Aww how sad huh? The lands were originaly intended to be included in the lorwyn set... I for one am glad to expand my quantity of these lands.. And yes they are reprints but for the first time the average player can finally put his/her hands on these amazing lands...
Jun 5, 2010Posted in: The Rumor MillQuote from immortality20I could see a tap five cycle Commander Kool
1/1 to all merfolk, tap 5 to counter a spell. Still useless
1/1 to all goblins, tap 5 to destroy target land? Might be powerful.
1/1 to all elves, tap 5 to give target creature protection from color until end of turn? all creatures have trample?
1/1 to all soldiers/angels, tap 5 to gain vigiliance and flying until end of turn
Yeah, they look bad enough for WOTC to do.
And completely underpowered when compared to the vampire :).
Jun 4, 2010Posted in: SpeculationQuote from ZarovichxEven if this is true, things do change. Wait, didn't Black have Core sweepers back in the day like Pestilence.
Heck why not make harmonize a stable green card then? Why not include that in the core set?.........
Black sweepers are always conditional
(with exception of Damnation of course).
Here's to wondering why Planar chaos was ever released?
If a black sweeper was ever to appear in a core set, for the love of all that is good let it be Mutilate...
