My pick for Pro Tour Sweater is the Cliff Huxtable classic.

I've always thought it was interesting that the art on Chandler, from Homelands, actually looks like Chandler from Friends. Perhaps Matthew Perry worked as a portrait model before hitting it big.

My favorite pack? I don't even remember what was in it.

A few years ago, I was playing in Minneosta State Champs. It was Mirrodin-era standard and I was playing a mon-red deck featuring Arc-Sloggers, Pulse of the Forge and Beacon of Destruction. It was definitely a sub-standard deck in a room full of Ravager/Affinity and Tooth 'N Nail decks. I was destined to bat .500 that day and finish about half-way down the list.

I was very new to tournaments and wasn't bothered by my finish in the slightest. I was actually really happy with winning half my games.

I got my favorite pack before the tourney even started.
During deck registration, I wrote down my deck like usual and turned it in. After they collected all the lists and addressed a myriad of registration errors, the tourney organizer got on the microphone and listed off about 6 names, mine included. I thought I had done something wrong, but he went on to say that these six people should come forward and collect a prize for being the only easily readable decklists in the whole room. They thanked us profusely and handed each of us a shiny booster pack. I couldn't believe I had won a prize without even playing one match.

I couldn't tell you what rare I got, or if it was foil, I just know I'll never forget how I got that pack.

    Wonderful show as always, guys.

Tom, when the Ahoy! draft rolls around, drop me a line so I can come draft with you, since I also live in MN. Perhaps even Derek would consent to driving the six or so hours to Minneapolis to draft with us.

Derek, did you live in MN for a while? You remind me of a Derek that used to play at Dreamers on a regular basis. Also, any chance of The Manacast coming back?

Gavin, thanks very much for the useful tips on upping your gameplay and going to the next level. The rules bit you brought up about "at end of turn" triggers actually came up on Monday night at my local store and you clarified it for me. Someone wanted to activate Mutavault at the end of my turn and have it be a creature til the end of his turn. I couldn't remember which triggers worked like that and couldn't reliably give the guy an answer.

My favorite foreign language card has got to be the Italian Legends Mirror Universe I recently won from this here podcast. (signed by Tom btw)

As for my favorite animated film, I'm going to have to say Toy Story. But I will agree with several of the posters that Spirited Away is excellent.

I haven't listened to the cast yet, but I will be downloading it tonight. I just picked up on the theme for this week's discussion by reading other posts.

I'm thinking Mos Def as Teferi would be pretty cool. He's got a kind of impish spirit to him that fits with Teferi's style pretty well.

I'll post again later after I listen to the 'cast.

I'll have to agree with the majority of the posters here. I like MNM because of the mix you provide. A little bit of casual, a little bit of tourney and a little bit of news. It's a well rounded cast, guys. I wouldn't change anything.

Derek: I would like to toss my two cents in about The ManaCast. I loved that podcast. I've listened to old episodes more than once because I found them so entertaining and informative. Granted, by the time I listened to them again, the metagame info was a little out of date. No matter. The underlying strategy is still important, even if the card choices have changed.
Bring back the cast. It will be well received. And don't change the format. The 'Sconny crew was doing a great job.

There's going to be Big Trouble In Little China if we don't reach 100 posts this week.

Thank you very much for the Mirror Universe guys! I actually played against one of those Monday night. After City Champs, we tend to cube draft for fun, and one of my cohorts had one on the table pretty much every game.

I'm gonna go with the Unhinged Island as my favorite land, followed closely by the other Unhinged and Unglued lands. They don't do anything special, but they sure do look nice.

Snakes on a Plane. I thought it would be so bad, it's good. You know, kind of a cult classic you can laugh at? Not even close. Painful. Gotta go scrub my eyeballs now.

    thanks,

Favorite artifact is a tough one. It's like picking your favorite song. I've got different ones for different moods.
In an aggro kind of mood, my favorite is Bonesplitter. I was running WW during the tooth and nail standard era, and bonesplitter was the only way to race fast enough.
Favorite part 2 would be Portcullis. I love this in multi player.

Gun to my head; I'd have to say Isochron Scepter is my favorite. Nothing better than pairing it with Voltaic Key. There are just so many fun options to imprint on it.

    Peace,

Thanks for the mention this week, Tom. It's always a nice surprise to hear yourself mentioned in a public forum.

I think you guys were right, a whole line of plush magic icons would be really cool. I always wondered why Wizards didn't market Magic into other avenues. It seems that Pokemon did something right with their cartoon. When I lived in an apartment, there were a bunch of kids around the building collecting and trading cards, that didn't even know how to play the game. They enjoyed them like baseball cards. It seems like a fair assumption that if Wizards had ever produced a cartoon, they'd have increased sales with younger folk. The same applies to action figures etc... I just hope that if they do produce an animated series, it doesn't suck.

As for 1/1 guys; My all time favorite would have to be Sakura Tribe Elder. He was one of the staples of my favorite deck I've ever made. It was a Blue/Green Snake-Toolbox deck that was a ton of fun to play. It dropped snakes at a rapid pace, recycling Sosuke's Summons and used Chord of Calling to fetch up a bunch of one-of Legends at instant speed. The best search target was usually Clone in that format, because of all the Dragons and whatnot running around. I was very sad when Kamigawa rotated out of standard. If anyone wants to build it, let me know and I can post a decklist.

As for close runners-up; I always liked Auriok Champion, the pro red pro black chick that gains life whenever a creature comes into play. Plus she's got some great art.

I also have a soft spot in my heart for Basking Rootwalla. During Odyssey Block, I drafted a LOT and ended up drafting madness more often than not. I had about ten binder pages full of this guy when the block rotated.

    That's all,

I'm sure that 45 or 135 is the correct answer here, as well as being the number of one of the Packers. Does Garruk play for Green Bay?

I just wanted to chime in with art that I like, but I don't think it's my favorite over all. I've always liked the original picture for Elves of Deep Shadow. The image is so entrancing, I love it. I've also always been a big fan of all of the stuffy doll artwork; the rack, black vise, stuffy doll. I want a plush version of that little guy to sit next to my computer.

    Thanks for your time,
