@concorddawn Welcome! Obviously the flipped card is insane. But the baggage, it costs four and doesn't win the turn we have it nor interacts with the opponent... heavy. As many of us can attest, as crazy as it sounds sometimes thopter/sword on turn 2 nut draw isn't enough to beat an unfair deck by itself.
I would never rule a new card out from testing, but this card seems to pull the deck even further into glass cannon territory.
Just my gut response, but please test and let us know if you're finding anything that's clicking because innovation is dope!
Tezz costs four and also doesn't (automatically) win for us when he comes down...but we play him cause he allows us to do insane, broken things. I agree testing is needed, but my excitement over this card is just too high. Psych levels at max.
I can see your points, and they are valid. I certainly will be testing this out, the problem I face is that my lgs is not what one might call...competitive. I see few tier decks so my results will be skewed, but I will dutifully report my findings.
T1: land, Mopal, bauble, Welding jar, thopter/sword
T2: land, Pentad prism, thopter/sword
T3: Storm the vault (flips on end step) make thopters on opponents turn
T4: Profit
Obvs this is a best-case scenario, as far as I can calculate atm...but this seems way better than just 'win more' imho. Blightsteel Colossus could even be a whir target...
Hello all, long time lurker, first time poster. I first made this deck for a friend when we did the modern team event at GP San Antonio, (JUST after whir came out) and after watching him play the deck I wished I had ran it instead, lol. I have been tinkering around with it ever since (almost a year now) and think the card that will take this deck to the next level is coming out in the next set...Storm the Vault // Vault of Catacan. I am already brewing up a version of the deck with a red splash, and welcome any other insight as to how best abuse a quasi-reprint of the fabled Tolarian Academy. Looks like I'll have to take the plunge and get more Mopals to add to my mix...

So. Many. Possibilities.
