I left the game after after the '07 'Flash Prix' debacle. But after seeing how a new UN set is about to drop, how could I resist?
I have no intention playing competitively. Just nothing but casual play.
After glossing through the 'UN Block' and remembering what I could from buying Unglued packs as a teenager, I believe I want to go with Red+White. Red seems to have a decent amount of tutors, draw and disruption...PLUS it seems to work heavilly on the 'Contraptions' mechanic. White has some nasty disruption and protection.
Now, before we get started. I'm not going to be a player that uses something like Hurloon Wrangler and force my opponent into anything uncomfortable. Nor do I intend to make any frustrating situations or combos.
Everything is very 'surface level'. I want my opponents to play Magic as if I were any other opponent...I just happen to be playing the most non-serious deck they've ever played against.
The contraptions deck is mostly a tutor/contraption building/token making engine.
Again, I feel a bit out of my depth as the last deck I ever piloted in M:TG was Legacy Solidarity. I love control, but I have no idea how to build anything that plays the 'my creatures are going to fight your creatures' game. I'm a bit beside myself as I was unable to figure a way to wedge 4 Little Girl in the deck.
Also, how would a deck like this be received in casual play. I've built massive troll decks in Yugioh and Pokemon to some degree of success (competitively and casually). Magic, I can't get a good bead on.
