Been looking to make a rock deck work, and I am quite intrigued by this one. I was hoping to ask a few questions before I started picking up the parts.
1). Can the deck still work, if things like Blood Artist/ect get exiled? Exile/tuck is an unfortunate common thing in my group, primarily for MW with a genesis engines, I am curious how well the deck can do if the life engine get's disabled.
2). While there are certain upsides to DP over Necropotence, has the mandatory draw and life loss ended up biting you in the butt?
3). Have you considered running a few bigger end creatures like Ashen Rider to go along with some of the reanimation you are running?

I am not talking about lists, I was talking about the bans themselves. Cards like Sylvan Primordial aren't the problem. Cards like Hermit Druid are.Posted in: Commander (EDH)

Honestly, anyone who remotely considers their group to be more than casual would answer the question yes. At least with my group, and a couple others I play with, to a competitive group, the last 3-4 bans were complete jokes, when cards like Tooth and Nail, Mind over Matter, and Dead-eye Navigator running about completely "legal".Posted in: Commander (EDH)
That said, we HAVE to keep with it, simply because there are others who are amusingly stubborn at following the "actual" list.

Part of the reason, I think, is that the deck was running a heavier land count (like 44 lands, while running cards like Azusa, Rites of Flourishing, ect), while at the same time, running a more combo heavy version, which is why the deck was so answer light (even in Wanderer got tucked, I still probably won after the cascades).Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
Trying to transition to a non-combo version, the deck I posted was my first draft. Exploration was already circuling the drain, not only for the reduced land count, but it is just a God awful cascade.
All the removal/artifcat tutors you listed, I definitely would add immediately into the deck. Is Tolaria west really that good as a transmute three for crypt? Would you use it to fetch a utility land, and if so, which one would you search for more often than not?
Food Chain, I didn't like the exile, since I was running Genesis. I could definitely cut Genesis, if you don't think he does enough. I found my deck was suffering late game, so I wanted the repeated regrowths, and food chain kind of discourages creature recursion.
Chaos Warp....I was just never in love with the card, but maybe its because I play against a ton of permenent based decks, and I see it backfire a lot (although, it does work great a good chunk of the time so I should probably look at it again.
Mimic could be tutored, genesos recovered, survivaled, ect, while Stolen Identity has a single casting, unless I can guarantee constant attacks. I think it's more of a meta choice, but maybe there is more to the card than I think.
And Garruk, I just didn't think he did enough, and planeswalkers sometimes draw just a big of a target as a card like Arcanis can. Still, I may be over valuing Arcanis, but my play group doesn't fear him, compared to other cards. That said, if it changes, Arcanis might get axed.
Btw, thank you for your suggestions. Really didn't mean to hijack the thread.

I don't mean to dredge up this thread, but you have one of the most amazing lists I have ever seen. Here is my own list:Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
I know it is going slightly away from what you want to do, but my group basically hated out my combo version (Only ran kiki/Zelous and Deadeye/Palinchron). Did you figure out if any cards from Born were making a splash, such as the R/G god you said before you were on the fence about?

Posted in: Commander (EDH)Quote from Yawgmoth"s ValueNow that Sylvan Primordial is out of the picture, can Recurring Nightmare be unbanned? I can imagine SP was one of the more annoying ETB creatures to reanimate continuously.
Recurring Nightmare is a great card, no doubt, but it seems fine overall to unban. Graveyard hate really hurts it.
Probably not, considering we would have to look at any creature with a somewhat decent ETB trigger...

Posted in: Commander (EDH)Quote from MRHblueDo you honestly think a SP is fair destroying 3 lands and ramping for 3? In a 3 player game thats 6 for 1 even without a blink in the perm type most likely to come out "early". A lot of those other cards are expensive, but niche in actual use.
A 6-for 1 isn't really as super as it sounds when you take into account that it is multiplier, and costs 7 mana, and can only target one non-land permenent per player, making it significantly worse against a single player, while ramping into specifically a forest card, not any land.
I honestly think this is probably one of the worse bans the RC has made since the Prime Time ban. Yes, boo hoo card advantage in green, but seriously?! Their exact wording of "It meets many of the heuristic markers for a banned card, insofar as it invalidates many other creatures as search targets and causes arguments about whether its use is degenerate or reasonable."
How does it remove many other creautures as search targets? Wanting to to do half of austere command, you grab Bane of Progress. Want to end the game with damage? Craterhoof behemoth. There are tons of utility that can be grabbed with the card.
Hell, even when the RC was discussing the reason for banning Sundering Titan, pretty sure I remember someone metioning how stupid it was in combination with deadeye navigator. Are you really going to play this game with banning any creature wit an abusivable ETB ability, rather than the best blink card that is likely pushing these cards?
I mean congrats, you hit a ramp+non creature kill spell. Maybe if you just keep banning the best copied creature, people will stop trying for creature win cons. Consecrated Sphinx next?

Posted in: Other GamesQuote from Attila the FunLike I had said I assumed most of the problem was with my setup. I started with Sub and Stealth Rock and just tried out a few different moves. To use it as my mega I would have to put it on another team or remove my Charizard y. So I think for the most part I'll just look for something else to take its place. I didn't expect it to be a wall that never died but I did think he would usually take more than 1 hit before he was out of sub range or died.
Oh on a side note until I looked at fully ev trained stats on showdown I didn't realize that both blissey and chansey has such a low physical defesne.
Just as a heads up to your last point, 252hp 252 def bold evolite chansey can tank physical hits like no ****ing other. In Gen V UU, there was some ridiculous stats (I believe LO Adamant Mamoswine Earthquake was only 20% chance to 2HKO, while it could actually LIVE a Heracross close combat, if not banded.
If I feel less lazy, I'll see if I can dredge those calcs from smogon....
As far as Aggron goes, there is almost o reason to use a non-mega version in OU. He is just too outclassed, with weaknesses to some of the more common attack types. Even on the physical side, the 4x fighting/ground weakness undermine his incredible bulk.

@Helix: I'm Urza, and I figured it was a connection issue. It might even been me since I was in Ann Arbor so the wifi was questionable.Posted in: Other Games

Try me on for size. I have not actually lost a 6-on-6 battle, without some sort of non ou pokes on the oppisite team (Mewtwo/Mega Blazeken/ect).
Also, I thought absol would be better. He has been disappointing me as of late.
