How long will Kaladesh remain in Standard? When the new set after Ixalan get released, will it rotate out immediately? And how come four sets rotated out all at once?
I've already stated my needs above. Basically I need a nice place to store my small collection of cards. I have my pre-release box, but I'd like to just flip through my cards whenever I want without digging through a box, and then trying to carefully put them back without just dropping them in (so I don't scuff them).
I would prefer binders to portfolios, unless a specific portfolio holds a lot of cards. Again, unsleeved cards, and I'd like to store duplicates in the same slot. I'd also say that I want acid-free pages, but I think that's a given.
I have seen the Professor's videos! They were the inspiration for this thread! He did make a lot of videos though, and I have specific needs, so I'd figured that I would ask on the forums instead of binge watching all of them. You guys have good suggestions, but I heard that D-rings are better because O-rings can bend your pages while the binder is closed, thus bending the cards.
I want to get a binder for my collection of Magic cards, instead of just haphazardly storing them in my pre-release box. Any brands you guys prefer? Personally I'm looking for a durable binder, one that I can use almost indefinitely, and some 3x3 double sided pages that can hold duplicate unsleeved cards.
1. Are there only specific days for leagues? I want to join one but it seems like they all take place on Tuesdays, which sucks because I am not available on Tuesdays.
You're right, glad I finally got out of my shell. At the shop, they told me it was spelled "B-I-D-E" instead of "B-Y-E". I don't if they are just mistaken.
I went to my first "real" Magic event at my local game store (as in not an Open House), the Ixalan Prerelease. Everyone there was very kind, and the first guy I went against even helped me refine my deck with the cards I opened. I got a 1-1-draw; in the second round I won by "bide", and I technically lost the third round, but since we went over the time limit, he called it a draw.
I know these kinds of posts aren't really welcome on this site, but I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who offered help and suggestions on my threads. You guys gave me the confidence to go to my LGS and start playing.
I plan on going to more drafts so I can keep learning how to play and how to make good decks. That way, I'll slowly build up a cardbase that I can use for FNM Standard (many suggested netdecking to start with, but I'm not sure which type of deck I want to play, so I like having options). In the meantime, my LGS has decks I can borrow for FNM. I'm also tempted to splurge on a box, because Ixalan is looking pretty good.
Once again, thank you all. I'm glad to be part of such a nice community.
Honestly BlueTron, that was my original idea for getting into Standard, just going to limited events for a while to build up a good collection. It sounds like it could be a good idea after all, and I'm glad someone can verify that. Plus, going to play at limited will help me get more experience.
hoser, thanks for the great advice! I've heard a lot of this stuff before, but thanks for the summary. Also, is a League a one time entry fee? Or do I have to keep paying each week?

Suggestions?
Any suggestions?

2. Are there typically prizes aside from promos?
3. Do they scold you for joining late?

As in what? Are you saying it is common to see a mix of high and low tier decks?
