I would go with a couple shocks, maybe even instead of one/both of the bayous to have more of your mana base islands for daze. If you've got other blue fetches around I'd go with those instead of catacombs as well. Running 20 lands intentionally? Occasionally delver variants run 19 lands if trying to go 4 color but generally 18. I'd cut 2 fetches and get some more interaction or cantrips. Running 4 Ponder?
I was thinking about the mana base a bit and am now considering including a couple of the cycle duels to have another card advantage engine that works with Loam. This might be 2-3 and if 3 would probably replace 2 shocks and be a 23rd land in the deck.
I'm working on a budget legacy deck to give a friend for help he's given me renovating my house. Through breaks in work I've been teaching him MTG with proxy legacy decks and the deck he picks up the most is Punishing Jund. I'm looking to build something similar to this deck but with out breaking the bank on Liliana of the Veil, Tarmogoyf, and Dark Confidant in particular. I have 2 LotVs that I plan to give him but can't afford to complete the playset. I also have a ton of extra fetches and shocklands to fill out the mana base(when we play true legacy he can use the shocks as proxy for ABUR lands) Hoping to spend between $200-$300 on cards for the rest of the deck and won't be counting fetches/shocks/lotv as part of that.
Goyf and Bob are hard shoes to fill but going to try to find a way to do it. I've noticed that some of the newer lists are incorporating 2x Grim Flayer. He seems to have good synergy with Punishing Fire and Bloodbraid Elf as well as Goyf and Bob that won't apply here. I'm thinking about putting 3-4 of him in and trying to find other ways to abuse his lootish ability. The couple I've come up with are Scavenging Ooze and maindecking a Life from the Loam. Neither seems very good in multiples so I imagine they will both end up as 1 ofs or maybe 2 of in Oozes case. I see tireless tracker as a decent BBE cascade and he has great synergy with Loam. I've not played with him much, good in multiples?
Here's the list of 56 I have so far. It's just over $200 for the things I would need to buy(I have Bolts, Hymns, Inquisitions, & a KCommand).
It needs a few more cards which could just be more of the spells(bolts, decay, inquisition) or something else. I'm not firm on any of the numbers at the moment and interested in other ideas of cards that might fill a roll in a deck like this. Thoughts?
For what it's worth, the other decks he might play against in our group of friends are Stoneblade variants, Delver variants, Faeries, Burn, Maverick, Zoo, Reanimator. We don't have anyone playing combo decks(other than casual UB reanimator) so Jund seems pretty strong in these fair matchups. Thanks!
