Does anyone have any advice on the Counters Company match-up? I played it last night (got the Catmix list sleeved up atm) and it felt really miserable.. The older version of the Company deck (with Melira) was really popular here in The Netherlands and I'm worried about running into it tomorrow at the PPTQ.. Any cards I can put in the board or good lines of play against the deck would be great. Thanks!

This is one of the matchups where I think black helps you. Between Strangler, Push and Pontiff you got more tricks to navigate this match. Still is gonna be hard. For the monoW version I assume Grafdigger's Cage is an option to shore this match. I think Sunlance is the 5-6 Path that you regullarly can play on monoW builds but I think it's not great versus the instant speed nature that Company brings to the deck

Question about using Dark Confidant in WB versions. For those playing Bob, I am looking to understand your experiences playing the card because it seems such a high risk to reward and therefore almost counter-intuitive for the deck, given that we have so many 3- and 4-drop cards and not much to compensate with lifegain. How often has Bob killed you in games? Do you find you side him out in a lot of match-ups? How has he won you games? Thus far, I have only played about a dozen or so matches. I have seen Bob (I have been playing 2 in the deck) in just a few games, and usually late, and he has been almost instantly removed. The one time he wasn't removed I effectively bolted myself with a 3-drop draw next turn and then got hit for 4 more with TKS....

It gets in to fix one of the issues of the deck; its lack of card drawing. I've been playing about a year with it and I've liked it. It really doesn't have any sinergy with the deck or the taxing plan but it's still a powerful card on its own. I don't think it's a mandatory card on the deck and could be replaced with Copter, Revoker, Thraben Inspector or more copies of Blade Splicer. It depends on personal like or metagame prediction I guess. I think currently only find myself sideboarding it out against Burn. In basically any other matchup it turns out to be a great way to dig deeper into your deck and find your sideboard cards. If I was gonna try any of this options to replace it I think I would go with Copter, although I don't like having nombo cards with Stony Silence and/or affected by Thalia.

Regarding the risk of revealing high CMC cards there's only one answer for it: "Greatness, at any cost"

I think Vial, Ghost Quarters and Paths give you some ways to get around Blood Moon. It's still an annoying card to play against for sure, but I wouldn't classify it as stone cold beater. Still figuring out the correct number of basics for this. I like 2 Plains and a Wastes, but sometimes I miss the swamp, mainly to GQ myself to activate Shambling Vent

I've been testing W D&T lately in preparation for the upcoming RPTQ Modern season and I think it's the best version at the moment since it has a great angle to attack Death's Shadow and Eldrazi Tron. Even though Mirran Crusader is a great card against shadow, I think what really bothers the deck are Thalia and Arbiter. Shadow's decks are fully based on mana efficiency and a low count of lands. Crusader is a great top deck (so he doesn't get discarded away) and but the original tandem are the ones who light the way. I haven't played against Eldrazi Tron yet but a assume that Ghost Quarters and Tec Edges are good enough to keep them off their big plays.

Robots has always been a difficult matchup, almost impossible to beat game one. I've asked some friends on Robots and what really bothers them and they tell me "Stony Silence on second turn is the way to beat Robots. Not Kataki, not sunlance, go for the Stony Silence". I think I've been able to steal a couple of matches versus robots and it' all comes down to this.

Creature matches have also seem difficult and I've going back and forward on the wrath effects on the sideboard for this. Dusk/Dawn seems like a better first option since it can be turned to a one side wrath, but sometimes you wanna take out some creatures on the other side that dodge the 3 power. Like Spell Quellers, Voices or Robots again. I've been playing 1 Dusk and 1 Wrath of God but I think that at some point I'll go for 2 Dusks and hope that these two power creatures can be out powered by Resto.

I've really liked the couple of Copters instead of the Serra Avengers. It helps to dig through sideboard, get rid off lands (Flooding is one of the most commons way to lose) and dodges wraths like Anger of the Gods on sideboarded matches. I thought it would be too vulnerable since Bolt and Push take him, but again Thalia and Leonin get always on the way or require to be answered first. I've also been trying Selfless Spirit instead of BFT and I've liked it too. Burn being the only reason to lean towards BFT but I've added some Kitchen Finks on the sideboard that can help in this match.

Living End has also been a dificult matchup for me. Almost lost on game 1 and on post sideboarded matches it all comes down to sb hate. Currently running 4 Relics but also wondering if a split with Rest in Peaces is better.
