I'd be totally fine with this being true.
Is it possible that The Raven Man's identity won't be revealed until Belzenlok is dead?

Aug 25, 2017Etherium Sage posted a message on Magic Story: Alara to AmonkhetPosted in: ArticlesQuote from Jay13x »I hope so to. My thinking is that in the wake of his internal epiphany while fighting Bolas, Gideon will start using his hieromancy again. Jace seems primed to make a switch to a much greater use of illusion magic. Chandra I hope discovers new uses of her power - learning to cast something like The Purifying Fire would be an awesome use of her abilities.
Gideon actually using hieromancy would be great. This might be something weird to say, but it might even also pave the way for a Gideon card without the signature "turn-into-a-creature" ability, as he'll focus more on tactics and suppression magic than throwing himself into the thick of things. This would, in turn, broaden the design space for him.
Jace's Ixalan card does suggest that his Illusion magic will be more prominent, but we'll see. I still think that his lost memories of Vryn are the biggest obstacle to his potential, as he basically lost his experiences training under Alhammaret. -

As you said, Chandra's raw flames won't always cut it, which Bolas demonstrated; we know that she can create elementals and phoenixes, as well as use Ghostfire, yes we never saw any of that in her fight against Bolas. Nissa's leyline magic has untold potential, which can be a double-edged sword since it might make her too OP in the story.Posted in: Articles
A number of people think that Bolas is gunning for Dominaria, so it'd be interesting to see what goes on with that. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
Technically it was since Alara, which was just before that.
Bolas has become the Illuminati of the MTG Multiverse.
I've even seen one person on Reddit speculate that it's Bolas that crammed the artifice knowledge into Tiana's head.
To expand on this with a couple examples in EDH, it's a primary win condition for Teferi, Temporal Archmage EDH decks, and Captain Sisay decks that include The Chain Veil can pull it off too considering what Paradox Engine does for that deck. I'm sure those aren't the only ones either.
I'm surprised you didn't include "Mono-red, where's your tutoring? I have none, you won't either! Stranglehold" in this post.
Probably the closest ability I've seen to agelessness is Platinum Emperion.
Dominaria has high magitek, but it's not as concentrated as artifact-centric planes like Kaladesh or Mirrodin/New Phyrexia.
As to what it is, it looks like a giant gyroscope suspended between two giant electrodes.
As far as I'm aware, we don't know yet because the story hasn't gotten that far yet.
If something like Paradox Engine is still allowed to run around causing terror every time someone is allowed to resolve it and untap with it, then I don't see why this would be banned.
Godo, Bandit Warlord and Aurelia (as mentioned before) can be pretty scary with this thing, but it's still relatively gimmicky compared to many other infinite combos in the format.
It's a reference to Vesuva and its inhabitants in general. The place is all about copying things.
The Queen of Vesuva is almost certainly a shapeshifter too.
I wouldn't call it "overcosted", because it'd probably be busted if it was cheap in either mana or equip cost.
What I'm saying is that I don't think it is easy to find a middle ground with a card like this.
It's Aurelia, the Warleader. I don't know what a warlea is.
Also, my thinking is that Aurelia uses the Helm to create a copy of herself. When either declares an attack, she gives you an extra combat phase, and then when the next combat phase comes around, a new "Aurelia" is created that gives you yet another extra combat phase since it's the first time that "Aurelia" is attacking.
So yes, you're correct about the infinite combat phases. The tricky part though is assembling the two, since Aurelia is six mana with strict color requirements, and the Helm is 4 mana with an equip cost of 5. Granted, the equip cost can be circumvented with things like Hammer of Nazahn, Sigarda's Aid and Puresteel Paladin, and the Helm's mana cost can be made easier with things like Danitha Capashen, Paragon and Stoneforge Mystic.
