I'd be totally fine with this being true.
Is it possible that The Raven Man's identity won't be revealed until Belzenlok is dead?

Aug 25, 2017Etherium Sage posted a message on Magic Story: Alara to AmonkhetPosted in: ArticlesQuote from Jay13x »I hope so to. My thinking is that in the wake of his internal epiphany while fighting Bolas, Gideon will start using his hieromancy again. Jace seems primed to make a switch to a much greater use of illusion magic. Chandra I hope discovers new uses of her power - learning to cast something like The Purifying Fire would be an awesome use of her abilities.
Gideon actually using hieromancy would be great. This might be something weird to say, but it might even also pave the way for a Gideon card without the signature "turn-into-a-creature" ability, as he'll focus more on tactics and suppression magic than throwing himself into the thick of things. This would, in turn, broaden the design space for him.
Jace's Ixalan card does suggest that his Illusion magic will be more prominent, but we'll see. I still think that his lost memories of Vryn are the biggest obstacle to his potential, as he basically lost his experiences training under Alhammaret. -

As you said, Chandra's raw flames won't always cut it, which Bolas demonstrated; we know that she can create elementals and phoenixes, as well as use Ghostfire, yes we never saw any of that in her fight against Bolas. Nissa's leyline magic has untold potential, which can be a double-edged sword since it might make her too OP in the story.Posted in: Articles
A number of people think that Bolas is gunning for Dominaria, so it'd be interesting to see what goes on with that. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
I find it interesting that you concluded that instead of considering the possibility that he was saying too much.
This comes across as needlessly condescending. What I took away from this thread is that Brawl allows people to play the game using the Standard card pool without having to spend money on the more expensive Standard cards.
I'm not still clear on why you think this is outside of Tezzeret's scope. He makes artifacts and he can teleport things now, so putting artifacts onto the battlefield from your hand doesn't seem like something that would be out of his wheelhouse.
For the record, the +1 and ultimate of the newest Tezzeret card are both things he's never done before, and the ultimate isn't even restricted to artifacts. I made a Tezz card with a similar ultimate in the past, and I was told that that had to be restricted to artifacts because "it wasn't Tezzeret" to fetch any permanent.
Originally, I was intending to give this a deck tutor ability (especially since Tezz has done it before), but I didn't want it to be too busted, so I settled for putting artifacts from the hand instead.
Let me put it another way: Planeswalkers are basically additional "players" that help you for as long as they have loyalty. That's the flavour reason behind why creatures can attack them. So, their having genders that are explicitly stated would make sense in that context.
That may have something to do with the fact that players themselves are supposed to be planeswalkers flavour-wise.
So I removed the Metalcraft, upped the activation cost of each by 1, and added a fourth activated ability to give it Trading Post-like utility.
Legendary Artifact
1, T: Create a colorless artifact token named Etherium Cell with "T, Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any color."
2, T: Create a 1/1 blue Thopter artifact creature token with flying.
3, T: Another target artifact becomes a 5/5 artifact creature.
4, T: Put an artifact card from your hand onto the battlefield.
Tezzeret's Etherium Arm 1UU (R)
Legendary Artifact
T: Create a colorless artifact token named Etherium Cell with "T, Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any color."
1, T: Create a 1/1 blue Thopter artifact creature token with flying. Activate this ability only if you control three or more artifacts.
2, T: Another target artifact becomes a 5/5 artifact creature. Activate this ability only if you control three or more artifacts.
Sarkhan Unbroken does do that though.
I like this Tezzeret a lot. I like Tezzeret's cards in general, and I always look forward to them, but I believe that this one might see play in something in Constructed.
The land taps for one colorless mana, and the symbol for colorless mana post-Oath of the Gatewatch is C. So the land should really say "T: Add C."
In Commander, it can remove experience counters too, for whatever that's worth.
I'm going to play devil's advocate here and say that by making planeswalkers like this one more restricted to a specific theme, it extends the already limited design space that planeswalkers have. If you keep making generic Lilianas, you'll quickly run out of design choices for the cards that won't end up looking pretty much the same as previous incarnations.
Was there also a pyramid-type structure on that coast? Because I see a pyramid-type structure on the left.
Also I can see the horns quite clearly, but if the Planechase card is any indication, the Talon Gates don't look that smooth and polished.
Both Apex and the blue enchantment are Bolas remaking Amonkhet in his image, so to speak.
Look at the planeswalker deck planeswalkers, and look at the walkers that have been spoiled in the Core set thus far. After that, tell me what the odds are that we're getting Jace over Tezzeret.
This Liliana seems OK, but I'm not sure if she'll see Standard play as it stands. Amonkhet hasn't rotated yet, so maybe? I can see something happening with the Golgari when Ravnica starts up though.
