The idea behind Thoughtseize should be changed. It is used to remove removal and creatures. The only time you use it turn 1 is versus combo. You might not think this. If you use it turn 1 then you can not play Stifle or bluffing it. This is the proper play. If you do not know that is my scg 3rd place list.
That is my third place list. I have been playing a varient of this deck for a year. I really love it. I am glad to have discussion open on the deck once again. I have found sinkhole as a waste. My version of the deck is meant to do well against blue and combo decks. As for popeye79's comments Id think sinkhole is dead. The deck is getting away from straight LD. It is now a more control deck. I tend not to play Thoughtseize turn 1 unless I am playing combo. I would like to formulate a primer. Mainly the side needs the most work and it should be discussed.
BTW, Popeye what your name. I do not recall the screen name to face.
this deck is no joke.. it really knows how to kick your teeth in.
and to everyone saying search for tomorrow is too week... you're wrong.
actualy play the deck and you'll understand. you really need to get the lands out asap. not only for scapeshift, but to play your bloodbraids, goyfs, activate treetops and equip jitte, ect... very neccessary. and as for harrow... really? so you're going to sac your land only to have it countered? see with search it's not even a possiblility, AND it's the early play you need to be more aggressive vs zoo decks and the like.
ps.. Billy, if you're reading this, i tip my hat to you...
Thanks Popeye (I tihnk I know who you are)
I love this deck. I was lucky enough to top 8 after losing to a good friend first round. He was on burn. Round 2 I had to play a second friend sporting rock. Unfortunately, I knock him out. In any case I also beat the mirror, 2 tribal zoo, 2 fae, an drew with the mirror. In the top 8 I beat thopter and lost to fae in three games. Last game I had him with fires. He then went three mistbnd cliques in a row to beat me. Game was turn 2 BB, turn 3 BB, turn four clique, turn five Clique, and turn six Clique. If any one of those turns were not a clique I get there. O well. I had him at three still. ugh.
Btw this deck is greta to play. I faced many great player Like Lee Cote and Owen Turnwald in the tourney. Lee is always fun to play and Owen well. Anyways, if you tell your opponant to play faster you should to.
Best of times. I will be writting about my match ups and game within a day or two on Newgame-intown.com. If you would like to see my build and my strategies per match ups stop by.
I know this is a stretch since the set is not multi-colored, but I really want four color legends for edh. Also, more legends at ubg, rug, wbg, wru, and rwb. would be great.
Mods this deck should be in the competitive section. It has multiple top finishes on modo. T8 at ptq San Juan and finishes with 4 t8 in Magic league. It's time. Please consider!!!!!
Well a lot of it depends on what you have. Dredge is very good if you know the deck. You do not have to play LED any longer, so every card is under ten dollars.
Man I think Corpt got board at work. Anyways, Jund will be here to stay. I was hoping for this and ran a spread um deck for that reason. Brought me to a top 8 in Illinois. Felt good punishing jund.
So true, I had to resist the urge to knock those jerks to the ground when they did that. Gotta love those judges telling everyone to be quite but they had no problem with the cheering and claping for a mull? At least you were the better man being so sportsman like, I wouldn't have been so kind if I was sitting in your seat.
Yeah, but I had my friend their and it was a good time. I have been playing long enough to know when there is an issue and the last year has been fill with close finishes to making T8( with 1 T8), so I was just happy. Though my friend siad I was stone cold in the top 8.
BTW The mull did hurt tough. I could not find anything over three mana to cascade. O well. I was praying for sunlight into wall of denial. I really thought my deck did well over the day. Anyone that plays this deck I suggest bant charm againest eldarzi and Jacerator. They work well.
Well I got second in IL. I played spreading seas. I changed the deck to fit the meta. As said before IL had so much jund it wasn't even funny. I would guess upwards to 50%. I new the list was solid. It was so good that I tried to tailor the list to other match ups.
Anyways. The top eight if i recall it correctly

3- Jund 2-0 He was playing borderpost and rampant Growth. shrug.

Thought about playing these last two jund decks, but wanted to have them in the T8. In any case it was a good tourney. Swiss 6-0-2 T8 2-1
BTW. Its rude to clap for a friend when their opponant mulls. I know your excited becuase you are trying to vicariously live through their good tourney, but come on.

To set aside any disagreements we've been having over this deck previously...
Have you considered Great Sable Stag? It seems awfully solid against Vamps, and double-dips for the Jund matchup; I agree that Pithing should probably go, but I think that if you also dropped Celestial Purge for the Stags (in addition to the Days that you've mentioned), you'd get a bit more mileage. As a follow-up, how have the Hindering Lights been for you? They've always been subpar when I've tried em in this deck.
So here is the thing. Great Sable Stag will not help in a midrange deck. Maybe in an aggro deck that wants to get across a lot of damage fast, but not here. Vampires overruns you and more importantly with fliers, again where Stag is worthless. I need a way to deal with Bloodwitch becuase they are devasting. As the list stands, and I am Corpt's friend playing the deck, you hope to out race the vamp match. On another note Corpt I disagree with Boros being a dscent match. I prefer to out it in the same group as elementals. The lifegain crushs the deck. The question is can I take enough out of the board to fit DOJ.
If you can find way to gain life, like wellwisher a multi kill condition would be Hurricane. Also I have never heard glimpse of nature called not good enough. wow!!
