So, I'm playing a game of multiplayer and my opponent plays banisher priest and removes one of my creatures. I can't kill it, but instead I kill the player, will my creature come back (assuming the game does not end)? I know with oblivion ring it will not, but this returns it without a trigger, so I wasn't sure.

As I often do, I apologize for my lack of eloquence. I've never had a way with words.

I've always loved Salvation, it has come to shape how I feel about magic and has introduced me to several people I can call 'friend' and it has strengthened ties with existing ones. I have enjoyed moderating because I care about how this site is run, because of how this site has helped shape an aspect of my life. I wanted this site to be all that it can be, so it can provide to others what it has provided to me. Alas, all things come to an end with time. I am stepping down from my position as moderator in humor.

I loved this site, I still do, but it isn't a big part of my life, and the rest of my life has been getting in the way. I've moved on, in a manner of speaking. I have other big interests, and things that are a bit closer to home have been taking up my free time. I'll still be around if anyone wants to chat, but I won't be around in a position of authority.

    It's been fun.

So, I've been looking around trying to find the value of the playmat given to top 8 competitors from states in 2011. I attached an image that contains playmat I'm referring to.

I've tried ebay and starcity and several other sites, and can't find even a price listing for it (regardless of whether or not there are any in stock).

    Can anyone help?

At the beginning of your end step, you may return target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield with converted mana cost less than or equal to the number of essence counters on Spiritual Renewal. That creature becomes a white Spirit in addition to its other colors and types.

We destroyed their team when we really shouldn't have because they were tanky champions (tryndamere, olaf, karma, sejuani, kennen) and we were le squish (leblanc, twitch, shaco, graves, rammus). They melted in team fights because they didn't build tanky.

Well, my parents 'found out' long before i was ready to tell them. History folders do that. Facepalm

My brother asked me straight up some time after that.

I haven't even told most of my friends, but I've told the ones that matter to me. I was so afraid of how they would react. Like, before I told them they kept asking me what was wrong cz they said I was shaking and was being more of an introvert than normal (not exact words, but that's the approximation). Then there was that awkward 'well, what exactly do you mean by bisexual?' period for a good 15 minutes. Now things are cool. Redface

My best friend was really mad that he wasn't the first to find out. There's this girl he really dislikes that knew before him because there was a guy who I was crushing on that I had told, and might have had a shot with. He was at the time dating this girl but was about to break it off, and I didn't know she was the snoopy kind. She confronted me about a bunch of 'weird' texts she had found on his phone. I tried to play it off casual, but she knew. After they broke up I cleared the air with her, but she told me she knew what was up the whole time.

So, another year gone, and I think it's in good spirit to bring this back once again!

This thread is for nominating the member who you think deserves the title of Funniest Member 2011.

The following rules apply when nominating for forum awards:
    • Each member can only make one nomination.
    • When nominating a member, only post the exact username of the person you would like to nominate. This is not the place for "I like super Xtreme member, because...." posts. In addition, the nomination must be easily recognizable by everybody, so please don't use nicknames or shorthand.
    • You are not allowed to edit your posts. Once a vote is cast, it is final. Any nominations made in posts that have at one point been edited will be discarded.
    • Nominations by gimmick accounts, any accounts not registered for at least a month, any account with no or few posts, and any accounts that we deem to be suspicious via either common sense, moderator superpowers or supercomputers that promise us cake will be ignored.
    • If a gimmick is used to nominate a member or vote, the main account will AT LEAST be infracted. Considering that cheating on a fun, friendly, and lighthearted the forum awards is pretty sad in and of itself, further action may be taken depending on your past history of that account. Consider yourself warned.
    • You ARE allowed to nominate a user that has already been nominated. (If nobody did, we would have quite the tie!) The members with the most nominations will make it to the final voting ballot.
    • Banned members cannot be nominated. Suspended members, on the other hand, can be.
    • Users CANNOT nominate themselves. We know that everybody loves themselves, but lets try to spread the love a little, at least for this process.
    • This nomination thread will remain open for two weeks.
Everyone, enjoy yourselves and vote honestly! Remember that this is for the whole year, not just the last couple of months. Don't forget about people who may have declined in activity as of late. Have fun!

If you're gonna run the pact route, run 5 color. Ask them, how many different colors of pacts can they pay for? There are very few 5 color decks that you'll run against (although not unheard of). That way, when you draw hive mind, you'll pretty much always have a pact in hand. This also gives you come nice utility in conflux, which can find all 5 pacts, or 4 pacts and hive mind, etc.

You really don't need graveyard hate for the most part. Any deck you'd be worried about it from you can usually steamroll before they get a chance to go anywhere. I took the OP's 75 to states this past weekend and took 2nd place, and that list doesn't run any GY hate. It just isn't necessary for deck's that we're seeing at the moment.

After doing a reread and a bit of contemplation, I'm pretty sure that Scarius is noob town. Everyone, and I mean everyone, is all to happy to throw him under the bus. This includes all the scum. Scum are all to happy to set up a mislynch today to win the game, and there is no one not on scarius' wagon (albeit in addition to mine). I'm fairly certain he's town because of this.

    Quote from Anaklusmos
This is false, and you know it. People are calling you scum because you have been one of the driving forces behind both mislynches, not because you only have been voting townies. This is something you yourself state in the very next paragraph even, so you are trying to misrep peoples arguments against you.

    1. IUD did call me out and say I was only pushing townies, you even directly replied to said post when you defended me on this point. (your post by the way is the one I mentioned earlier but couldn't find) 2. You're arguing semantics. Pushing people and voting people are roughly the same thing. I was the driving force behind those lynches, yes. I was also wrong. When I find someone I think is scum, I'm going to ride them hard because I want them dead, because I think they're scum. So we're back to me voting for the wrong people. Semantics.

Now lets talk about you, scum. Now that I've gone and read back, I've noticed something. You've been on every wagon we've ever had. Anything that looks like it could turn out to be an easy lynch, you've been there, ready to vote. Pinkfloyd, Gigas1, Sir Mu, Scarius and now me. Over the course of 2 posts you even flip flop from defending me to putting me top on your scum list, when it looks like I might be an easy lynch for the day. I'll note you didn't even give the courtesy of explaining your sudden change of heart. For reference:

    Quote from Anaklusmos
So, you have been lurking to get reads on people before you go about things? That I can understand. You have been lurking all game, and have no reads? That doesn't sit as well. I am going to give you some advice, to help you get some reads, people aren't going to come out and claim scum, you have to read more in depth that just surface level or a bit lower. Take notes even, that helps some people greatly.

I don't remember NightArcher doing those things, as he says himself. But even so, it isn't really scummy to push all town. As long as he pushed them with solid, town reasoning, then it just makes him wrong. And there is nothing scummy about being wrong about the people you think are scum. If he was being honest and true, but mislynched every time, that doesn't make him scum.

Also think about it from him being scum. He would never just push all town, because scum pushing scum is a great way to gain townie points.

And why aren't the lurkers a good place to start today? We are in Lylo, can't seem to do anything right at this point. They have lurked so much it makes it really hard to read them. I want to change that, and have them get out here. Are you IUD saying that none of the lurkers are scum?
    Quote from Anaklusmos
This. Also, that doesn't mean that Sir Mu was right just because he was town either. Honestly I gained nothing from him just because he was all over the place, with no apparent rhyme or reason to it.

Guys, IUD is town. Go look back at the game to find out why, but I don't want to spoil it.

So you voted Gigas for...something. Simply because you weren't going to be around? How did you convince yourself that he was scum to the point that you wanted to leave a vote behind, but can't tell us remotely what that scummy thing was? Then your reasoning for Sir Mu was nothing beyond what anyone else said.

Pseudo-vote Scarius (got to be careful with votes in Lylo)
    Quote from Anaklusmos
@Tezzeret IUD won't be counter-claimed, he is the other Mason. Go look at Gigas' wagon. kill-joy and IUD are the only ones alive not on it, and kill-joy voted Gigas earlier in the day. His mason partner would literally never vote him, so IUD has to be the other mason. Simple.

This is false, and you know it. People are calling you scum because you have been one of the driving forces behind both mislynches, not because you only have been voting townies. This is something you yourself state in the very next paragraph even, so you are trying to misrep peoples arguments against you.

Add this onto pinkys arguments against you, which I see as more very good points towards you being scum.

Sorry about the diabetes. That sucks Frown

Other potential candidates are Scarius and kill-joy. Scarius simply because he has lurked so hard that I can't get a read on him, and at this point in the game, someone who has intentionally posted so little that we can't read him is not someone who is town. It's another one of those "No reason to do as town." things. Kill-joy is kind of a gut thing, nothing really specific I can point to, just sometimes I get an 'overly helpful townie' feeling from him.

    In order:
    Nightarcher
    Scarius
    Kill-joy

And since I am at the top of everyone's scum list and we haven't gotten the mass claim off the ground, I'll go ahead and claim first.

My name is NightArcher (duh), and my role is town. There is a lot of flavor about a gathering of friends, an attempt to gain insight, 42 other failed seance attempts, acquiring an ancient grimoire. There's more flavor there but I'm not going to list everything off. I'm vanilla.

My preferred claim list following me would look something like this:

    Anaklusmos
    Kill-joy
    Weeping Willow
    Scarius
    tezzeret12
    pinkys_brian
    IUD already claimed

I suspected WWAB, but I'm going to give WW the benefit of the doubt until he shows up and posts a little more, that's why he's only 3rd on my list.

The latter half of day 1 and all of day 2 I was really active. I hadn't noticed the thread had started until 150 posts in 2 physical days. Day 3 I called out lurkers before I dropped off of the site for a while because of an actual irl complication. With the exception of what happened here day 3, I hadn't been lurking. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but we need lurking players to post too (that means you, scarius).

At a cursory glance my top suspect is scarius with his wagon jumping onto what looks like easy lynches while only regurgitating info on that player without providing anything new. I still need to do a reread, which I probably won't have time to do until sunday. I'm not placing a vote on scarius until I reread and until he actually comes back and says something about the accusations on him.

I'm sorry I haven't posted in the last couple of days but my life got turned upside down (I got diagnosed with diabetes) and I've barely had time to check my inbox much less sit down to do anything mafia related. Also, I'm a guy.

I'd like to point out that I said you shouldn't believe a claim from someone you think is scum, which is true by definition unless you have a real reason to believe it. And yes, you guys are right, I didn't think about the idea that lynching the info role frees the mafia up to kill whomever they want, I was thinking about every time I've seen an info role claimed they end up dead the next day. Especially in a game with no doctor, I just figured it was inevitable.

Also, a lot of you are saying that a reason that I'm scum is I've only voted for townies? I'm sorry, do you guys have magical insight into the roles that everybody has? There was also a post earlier that I can't find at the moment about the WIFOMiness of mafia only pushing town.

@Pinky If you lynch me the game ends so I don't see how you would go after ank either way tomorrow. I haven't really gone after ank because I didn't realize until late day2 that he had done that, and after that I've been kind of wary because I've driven 2 people to a mislynch, so I wanted to do a more indepth read and hadn't done it yet. At this point my reason for going after him at all dried up.

Except emrakul! He totally cannot block it.

Sorry about being relatively inactive the last few days, I haven't had a lot of time to devote to mafia. (busy at work, been in and out of the hospital, issues at home) I should be a little more active in the game starting tomorrow morning though.

Off the top of my head, I'm going to be honest and say I don't have any real suspects at the moment, but that is pending a reread. I'm annoyed at anak for the same reason I was at gigas and sir mu, but I don't have a real read on him yet. My track record isn't all that great and I want to be sure about my vote this time before I make it.

(accidently submitted the first one before I was finished)

The only two players I've pushed have been Gigas1 and Sir Mu. Gigas1 shouldn't have been lynched day 1, not with a claim that could be backed up by another player. He was prematurely hammered. Sir Mu was scummy as all hell and refused to cooperate with the rest of the town.

NightArcher. He pushed PF on Day 1

That is a blatant lie. If you're going to present reasons why you think I'm scum, at least provide correct ones. This tells me you honestly don't care enough to follow the game or do your research.

    We're at mylo.

I believe we should do a mass claim - if not, at the very least gigas's mason partner should claim.
Scarius, InUtterDarkness and Wolf with a Bass have been doing some major lurkage this game, and we need them to post. InUtterDarknes has 3 posts by day 3. Scarius has 4. Wolf with a bass has 14 (tied with the mod), and does not contribute much with his posts, many of them are 1-liners or just a question.
We're not going to find scum unless we all participate instead of just the same couple of people posting.

Considering the depth of your noncooperation, I wouldn't hold your breath. You're making unreasonable demands for someone in your position. If you're going to play like this in every game you play, I would suggest not playing mafia.

You can't even defend yourself properly.

So you're basing your case on voting me based on a post that came after you voted me. I see.

In regards to your 'terms', what makes you so special? Why do you think you deserve any special treatment?

Lo, wicked one! Why have you the need to say "No offense?" Certainly if you think I am scum like you do - if you did not, why are you voting me - you should have No Need to apologize prematurely! Such an action has a label upon it, which reads as such!

Because this is just a game, and you're still a person. And if you must know I do feel guilt because I said you were acting like an idiot earlier which is flaming - which is something I of all people should not do, being a moderator. Yes I feel guilt.

The same applies for your answers to accusations I have not made, foul spirit! Your twisted mind, deep down, seeks repentance for your dark ways, and so you feel the need to defend yourself from attacks not put forth onto the battlefield. An innocent mind would see me for what I was, a ranting fool with a pointing finger! But no, fiend, your warped self was worried of something I may have actually seen! So you sought to preempt my assault, but in doing so you have damned yourself!

I shall deliver you from this sin! The town shall deliver you from this sin! We shall give the Hammer of Justice lodging in your skull, and you will be cast down into fiery pits beneath the earth, where you will earn your repentance through suffering!

Join me, my fellow townsfolk, and aid me in striking down this pitiful beast! It may try to disguise itself as one of us, but do not be played as a fiddle! Rise against the one so guilty that he feels the need to raise his arms in defense against nothing more than a tongue!

Lynch the Archer of the Night.

Also - if you actually read my posts, my defense of my actions has always been in response to a prompt from another user. Someone asked me to explain, and I did. You have a pretty hefty opinion of yourself if think you're the only one who needs to ask questions.

worse I thought I was putting Gigas at L-1 which, where I come from is when it's claim time from a player, not L-2.

The reason why many people do L-2 is so that the person in question doesn't get quick-hammered.

Let's start here with why you're scum.

You've been completely forthcoming with the reasons for your actions when I didn't even ask for them.

No offense, but why is that a bad thing? Also other people have asked me questions, you're not the end-all and be all of everything. I don't see how that's a point against me. You're also still not answering anyone else.

Not that I ever quite disappeared, but I'm back to normal online-ness.

    Quote from Sir Mu
Before I answer any questions, I have one question for you all. And I really want you to think hard about it.

Assuming I'm town (which is the correct assumption to make), one must ask why there isn't even -more- pressure on me. Why the entire thread isn't up in arms, ready to lynch me at a moment's notice. Go on, think for a bit, post what you believe.

actually, a good portion of the people are up in arms because you basically refuse to make any input into the thread. People are repeatedly asking you direct questions that you refuse to answer. You're at L-2 now, and you should answer everyone's questions and you should claim.

You're still completely convinced I'm scum, and yet I've been forthcoming with answers to questions and have been explaining my reasoning. You're being a lock-box of information. I invite you to share something, because you're not trying to persuade anyone. If you think someone's scum, you should want to lynch them, which you've said but haven't demonstrated. If you want to lynch someone, your vote alone won't do it and you should want to convince the rest of the town. Unless of course you know that the person you're trying to lynch isn't scum......

Also, the one thing I stand by more than anything else? Those of you who aren't scum are voting me because you don't like the way I play.

NO WAY! I totally love the way you play. Please say confirmed town for more people so I know who not to vote.
