I just got back into MTG. Before I stopped playing, I gave most of my cards to my cousins so I currently just have a black/white deck which was constructed during Time Spiral. (So I really don't have much cards - and nothing playable in Standard)
I am interested in building a deck again. What do you advise is the best way to jump back into MTG - just buying cards and building a deck or go through something preconstructed like a fat pack?
I played MTG when I was in high school, but really never understood much about it.
I am starting to get back into with friends now, but all my cards are from the Time Spiral Block (10 Years ago).
Obviously I can play, but because this is an old set am I right that this would prevent me from playing in standard or any other structured game style since it is not in current rotation?
I just wonder what is the best way to get into the new rotation.

Thanks for the clarification.
