Hello, its nara (and CJ) again! We have been trying out some ideas. We need to have some battles with other people (or a good simulator that will use our decks right off the bat) but I (Nara) have revamped my red/black deck into a good deck that burns everything. My gf is a tad obstinate to remaking her G/B deck as much as you all recommended, so I made her a decent B/W leech deck. But of course when up against my R/B deck she didnt stand a chance. I thought about making a new deck, trying out Blue. It was neat, I made a decent R/U control and flying deck. It wasnt getting the mana I wanted in order to use surge abilities but I still utterly destroyed my gf. I beat her, she made some slight changes but I still destroyed her. Even worse than before.
    The Play:
    She played Fetid Imp
Then buffed it up with Cartouche of Ambition and Sunbond , if that wasnt scary enough, I had out Furnace of Rath so that made damage ramp up at double the rate that it normally does, so in a few turns she wouldve easily taken me out. However... I had Mind Control so things went in my favor kinda fast. The game ended when she decided to take 18 damage, with FoR making it 36, then Sunbond adds 36 +1/+1 onto his atk and etc. Oh btw, Cartouche has lifelink ..

Anywho after that battle we realized I need to have something far more casual so we can enjoy our battles. At the sametime, I realized either I could make a deck to bring it down to casual levels, or I could make her a new deck that ramps a lot. I made this post before looking at the color posts. I like to gather comments as I look at the decklists.

In conclusion is there any cards or decks you can recommend to us to make the game more casual or turn up the heat so BOTH of us are ramping? Also is there a simulator that we could use to test out our decks on b4 we test them out on each other?

    Here are my sweepers

Then, trying to beef up both decks we sat down and looked for interesting cards

I also grabbed a Flame Rift to sideboard in case a red deck of mine was in a multiplayer battle

I thought of playing a Dragon Deck, so here is all I have

If there are cards I could add that could help out that'd be great! After this morning, my budget for $10 per card went to $5 per card so I would love to know what you recommend!

Prid3... I saw that you did a lot of mono-colored guides, were there any dual-colored ones? My gf wants to play a green/black deck and after the tips I got here and she got in her thread we'd like to see an example of a deck :p

Will those recommended lists work for dual colors? Also what do you mean by "cards"? Do you mean doing [ card ][ /card ] (without the spaces)?

I would also like to say that I am willing to pay up to $10 per card, im a collector, i dont need anything super shiny, so if you recommend some cards for either deck please let me know! Grin

What exactly is your definition of a sweeper? I have Avatar of Slaughter who gives everyone double strike and makes everyone attack each turn if able. That is the closest creature I can think of to a sweeper but would love to see what you recommend!
    Artifacts

    Ancestral Statue
    Bomat Bazaar Barge
    Filigree Familiar
    Haziret's Monument
    Implement of Combustion
    Jayemdae Tome
    Lifecrafter's Bestiary
    Renegade Map
    Seer's Sundial
    Tapestry of the Ages
Wretched Gryff (it does have a blue emerge ability but otherwise it is colorless)

    Red

    Battlefield Scavenger
    Cathartic Reunion
    Epiphany Storm
    Fateful Showdown
    Humble Defector
    Insolent Neonate
    Prophetic Ravings
    Stensia Banquet
    Vaultbreaker
    Violent Impact

    Black

    Altar's Reap
    Ambition's Cost
    Corpse Churn
    Disentomb
    Font of Return
    Grim Discovery
    Grisly Transformation
    Harvester of Souls
    *Indulgent Tormentor
Liliana's Influence (it is very situational and only depends on one of these decks having a Liliana card)
    Live Fast
    Macabre Waltz
    Merciless Resolve
    Ob Nixilis Reignited
    Painful Lesson
    Raiders' Spoils
    Raise Dead
    Sibsig Muckdraggers
Stir the Sands (only because it has cycling)
Trial of Ambition (if and I will likely also run cartouches for recycling these trials)
    Unburden (cycling)
    Wander in Death

    Green

    Abundance
    Benefaction of Rhonas
    Bonds of Mortality
Byway Courier (it has investigate which makes a Clue artifact)
    Citanul Woodreaders
    Civic Warfinder
    Commune with the Gods
    Dissenter's Deliverance
    Elvish Visionary
    Fork in the Road
    Gaea's Blessing
    Greater Sandwurm
    Hunter's Insight
    Lead the Stampede
    Nissa, Voice of Zendikar
    Primal Command
    Pulse of Murasa
    Sage of Ancient Lore
    Seek the Horizon
    Seek the Wilds
    Shefet Monitor
    Sixth Sence
    Slice in Twain
    Soul of the Harvest
    Warrior's Lesson

Also I really need to know, whats the point of energy counters? With the exception of one artifact I have ... I have no idea.
If you have not realized, I have picked cards with any form of draw power to them. You did say draw power, however I am including cards that simply return a card from the graveyard to the hand, Cycling cards count as draw power to me. If I marked it with a *, I believe that it would make a great addition to a deck. I am putting red or black or green cards in here since it is easier to make this list all in one sitting, and CJ is going to see this post anyways Smile

Looks like the thing that puts in links is down (I just tried to put all my cards in the [ deck ][ /deck ] (without spaces)) sorry about that, I will check back later to see if it works.
UNLESS there is something I dont know about, I thought you just type the card name and it works. Pretty sure I did the decklists the right way.

Let me get back to you on that, would you suggest the exact same thing for my gf's green/black deck? I can provide a list of all card draw cards and sweepers I have for the three total colors we use Smile

agreed, an argument sort of started but it looks like I have a basic idea of where to start! Smile

My playstyle is primarily to burn but also to have a backup overpower option just in case. There was one opponent who overran me with token drakes and I couldn't do too much about it because I did not have enough or strong enough creatures.

Hi everyone! I'm CJ, Nara's gf. I'm using his account since we more/less share the same MTG cards. I have been playing MTG for around a year, I came in around the time that Shadows over Innistrad came out.
So I run a G/Black deck, but its not doing so good. I have been playing exclusively against my bf (well except for that three way match against the Wolf/Werewolf deck and him) for a couple months. A few days ago I underwent a purge of my deck (because it was pretty big, around 100 or so cards) and took out primarily some creatures, but now I get mostly mana when I play and need something, not quite sure what the issue is.

Here is my deck, thanks in advance for all of your help!

If it helps, I like shiny cards and also getting the most I can get out of a card, but using as little mana as possible, oh and interesting artwork, definitely!
Also, my main opponent is my bf and he LOVES using burn cards against me (he used to run 4 Trials of Zeal and 4 Trials of Ambition and 4 each Cartouches of Zeal/Ambition just so he could recycle the ToZ back to his hand and repeat the burning process)

    Hi everyone!

I'm Nara, pretty new to the forum, just started using it last night, although I have been around for a few months. I'm looking for help on tuning my deck for multiplayer matches, mainly 1v1 matches. There is a casual card shop I go to called Van's, they hold a draft every friday but commonly people go there to play some random MTG of all kinds. There are no agreements on types of play, we just have fun doing what we do.

Currently I am having a bit of fun with my R/Bla deck (its primarily Amonkhet and Blessed v Cursed). Against my gf and very few times otherwise, I have won some games. I also have a mono R Goblin burn deck that I made back in 2012 using a list at the time. It was very fun because I enjoy burning. I went up against a guy who is a major MTG veteran (I think he said he has been playing since 96). He decided to do an Elves v Goblins play and I agreed because why not? I want the experience. Lets just say that was a major mistake. I didn't learn anything. In like 2 turns he had that one elf out that taps for a green mana for every elf you have so very very very quickly he had lots of elves and 100% beat me. If I could compare it to something, its like an Insect (1/1 token with no Deathtouch) trying to face off against Nicol Bolas. There is no way I could get a win out of that. Then a few other times I played a 3way match b/t my gf G/Bla deck (I will explain that in another thread similar to this one) and I guess a mono-green Wolf/Werewolf deck (it might've been a R/G) and I was the first to go. Last night prior to prerelease I went up against someone who had a R/Blue/W deck who overran me with token drakes (we are basically tied, in all of our games i think our score comes out even or he has one over me or I have one over him)
Here is the decklist for this deck I hope tips can be offered Smile

    Thanks in advance!

    I use a R/Black deck and my gf uses a G/Black deck.

I have considered starting a R/Blue deck, or a rainbow deck, or a colorless deck, or a combination of the last two.

I was hoping to get tips on how to modify our decks.
I'm unsure of how this is done. Do I provide a decklist? Is there an easy way to do that? If so, where is the forum that should tell me how to do it? I looked around but never found anything.

I have no idea if this belongs here. Earlier was my very first prerelease. I was so excited, never looked forward to something so much. My gf and I got to the HoD prerelease, played some games, i actually won a few games before HoD came out. Then we went out and bought our HoD Planeswalkers decks real quick so we could get an idea of the set. I have to say, what we got was utter junk. Two pre-built planeswalker decks with two HoD packs, each. We got nothing fun to use, then prerelease came and we each got 4 packs of HoD, 2 of Amonkhet. Still utter junk. There were 12 of us, so 48 packs, for a grand total of 720 cards for everyone. Out of 720 cards, only ONE Nicol Bolas was found from the packs, and probably a few foils too, but only one Planeswalker out of 720 cards. I thank the various MTG gods that the Amonkhet arc ends after HoD, and really hope there are better cards in the future.
