I'm also interested in whether anyone is trying out the UR list. I was hoping Marcus would post an updated list -- he said he planned to in the comments on his CFB article.
1 Elspeth, 1 Jura, 1 Jace, AoT is great in the version of the deck that plays Ancestral Vision; 1 Elspeth, 2 Jace, AoT in the version that plays Sphinx's Rev, but no AV.
Okay, okay, I've given in -- I'm playing 1 Little Gideon. I've also cut As Foretold and Restore Balance.
But now I'm wondering: If I'm not (and won't be) playing Wall of Omens, is it worth it to run a second Little Gideon? And if so, what should I cut? Here's my updated list for reference.
P.S. I've foiled out the deck minus the Ancestral Visions (because they're due for a reprint and I refuse to spend $200+ on the foil Time Spiral version). If anyone would like to see pics let me know and I'll post some!
My fiancee is super into playing UB Faeries. She's currently on GB Elves, but wants another tribal deck that plays out differently (she's also been into trying blue in Modern). So I'm going to buy her the deck, but since there's so much variation among lists, I'm finding it hard to settle on the "best" build. Are there any "received" lists floating around the community? If so, would someone mind posting one? I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks very much for taking the time to read this.
@Dassul: I'm still of the mind that Little Gideon is best in the no-AV-no-AF builds that play Wall of Omens. Trying to jam both AF and Little Gid in the same deck seems like a not-so-great idea -- you end up having to cut too much. That's not to say that the Little Gid + Wall build is worse than the AF build. I just prefer the AF build, and we don't have enough data to decide for us which is better.
@Reverend: 5 spot removal is fine. That being said, I think you only want 1 Clique main. So I'd either go back to 6 spot removal, or, better, add a D-Sphere to your deck. I think at least one D-Sphere (max 2) is very good.
So here's the current list: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/03-04-17-lxJ-uw-control/. Running super smooth, but there's a lot of Little Gideon hype in this thread and I'm not sure whether to slot him (and, if so, what to cut for him). Reverend: things seem fine without him for you, no?
Can we cut down on the inane criticism of one another? I enjoy reading this thread because I think it has the potential to improve my build/play. But the recent trend of aggravated disagreement over card choice is turning me off. Maybe a moderator could step in here?
Guys, what do we think about Mana Leak? Should we be playing 1 or more main? All the As Foretold build that have 5-0'd leagues have had a couple copies.
