Gotta do a shout out to @Zulander for sharing his list with me for a modern event this week, I ended up going 4-0 beating esper control 2-0, burn 2-0, hallow one 2-0, and finally a strange combo deck involving fevered visions, forced card draw, exhaustion and other dumb izzet cards 2-1. I ran this mix:
22 lands- 10 fetches, 6 shocks (SGr, TGar, SFoun), 2 forest, plains, kessig, ghost quarter, horizon canopy...felt like a great mix.
15 One drops: 4 bolt 4 Nacatl 4 Nobles 3 path
12 two drops: 4 goyf 2 voice 1 pridemage 2 ooze 2 helix 1 dromoka's command
7 three drops: 4 KoR 1 tracker 2 smiter
4 four drops: 4 bloodbraids
SB was random really, but the cards I'd point out played the best for me- grafdiggers cage (i ran 2, it was amazing vs hollow one and good vs esper), worship- won me the game vs burn and was also amazing vs hallow one, Gaddock Teeg- AMAZING ONE SIDED HATE! I love him from legacy maverick but man is he great in this company-less deck. I think the board is a work in progress for me, ill certainly be trying damping sphere over blood moon effects and maybe a touch more burn, as the reach from the burn cards won me games.
This deck is SO much fun. I've always been a GWx guy. When I got back into magic 2-3 years ago, I gravitated towards collected company and then fell in love with Knight, playing knightfall in modern. I then played counters company when vizier was printed, then recently played some humans which is ok but i didn't enjoy it. I played some valuetown also, but I have to say, this deck might be the most fun for me. I think red gives that extra reach that bant company or GW company don't have, and the deck is just plain more fun than humans. I'm on board in modern with this deck everybody.
That said, good luck to anyone in here playing at SCG baltimore this weekend. I'll be there playing legacy...with of course my favorite deck, maverick. Keep jamming the hierarchs, bolts, knights and bloodbraids!
Any of you guys also play value town? I go back and forth between these decks and it feels tough to know which to go with. I understand value town is a looking to grind and draw the game out, and knightfall is more of a tempo deck in some ways but they play mostly along the same axis. Anybody have any insight as to whats better in the meta these days? (I've been playing a lot more legacy lately...Maverick is super fun)

Played counters company of all kinds, zoo, and humans, but none of them have been as fun as knightfall was for me so i think im coming back. I don't own Jace lol but it looks like strong company hits and the interaction with queller, mage, counter spells etc is very good right now. Look forward to being back.
Hey guys- I'm taking Humans to an IQ this weekend. I'm running a pretty standard mainboard, with one bob and then the normal cast of characters, but maybe with big thalia in the flex three drop slot, haven't decided on that or Kessig malcontents yet.
My questions is- what sideboard cards are best in your guys' experience vs an open meta game? I own all the cards i've seen run including dire fleet and hostage taker, along with the stallwarts in cage, dismember, izzet stat, mirran crusader, kataki, auriok, teeg, necromancer, etc
What are the SB cards you wouldn't leave home without? I'm pretty open to whatever and have no attachment to any cards. Thanks!
So which two drops have done the best for you guys in BBE zoo? Goyf is always tempting to play but i wanted to see how everything was testing for you guys. I always bounce between some number of voice, pridemage, ooze, goyf, selfless spirit and sometimes even thalia.
Btw, in the video's TCG put out today, the list ran one big thalia and it looked sweet. Anybody playing with her?
Myself included being excited about this list. I've seen ones with Jace, Vryn's Prodigy also, which i think is interesting. LOVE the 3 geist out of the board for control matches, i always find those super frustrating to win without midrange threats like that, I've even mostly been on GW value town because of all the jeskai and grixis in my area, but this list seems versatile enough to hang. I really wish they posted individual records, or if they did I haven't seen them...Wondering how this list did in particular along with the bant value town lists at 12th and 15th.
So, I'm back to this deck. I wanted to post my 75 as I'm a little unfocused with my build, I kind of want it all, but wanted to see if you guys had opinions on streamlining or having a better SB plan. I'm always tempted to do weird stuff like play 3x leyline of sanctity in the board to help with burn, valakut, storm, ad naus, etc. but it takes up a lot of real estate and you may never use it during a tournament. Tracker vs Ewit vs geist and courser. I really liked the card selection from courser, and the life gain is relevant so I'm pretty happy with 2. Tracker can be an all star, and i really like geist to add a clock and obviously Ewit can be amazing. I always love the idea of Clique too. Against an open field, how do you guys feel this can be optimized?
Actually, the only Druid vizier decks placing in anything I’ve seen have been bant lists with JVP, queller, Geist, negate/will/dispel and meddling mage from the blue splash. I’ve been testing that, with reflector mage too and it has good and bad matchups like any of our company decks. I do think Company isn’t a good meta call but I just keep playing it lol! Also play some GW, bant knightfall company still without the combo and that sometimes works out better...the combo still scares ppl though.
Have you considered something like eldritch evolution in this list? Seems like even with three hate pieces for storm it wouldn't hurt to a have a way to find therm, and also i could see evolution finishing the game out with surrak occasionally. Really cool list man, i may try it out myself!
This list makes me sooooooooo happy. Not sure it could win vs tier one decks consistently or anything but man does it look like fun. I might sleeve something close to this up and bring it to my LGS next week. Changes I'd make are adding eldritch evolution, Eidolon of rhetoric and maybe sigarda host of herons to the board-- and I'd think about squeezing in GoST and potentially Reflector Mage in place of some removal and also think about some sort of CA creature or walker (Tracker, courser, etc.) but I find it really interesting that he/she traded company for interaction--- it makes me wonder if thats better for midrange right now, though I'm a diehard company player since the card came out.
I’m looking to fill 1-2 slots in the sideboard for graveyard hate. Some great dredge players and living end in my meta. Other than ooze main I got nothing.
Thinking about cards like surgical extraction (no way to tutor this, doesn’t win the game but can hit conflagrate or other problems), anafenza the foremost, loaming shaman, pharika(not really a hate card but not nothing) and even like Rest In Peace boarding our witness.
