I've always been a fan of the Vivid lands (e.g., Vivid Grove). They synergize well with Reflecting Pool and are great for when you need to make some early game color-specific plays and have not draw into a certain color yet.
Is Braids legal in any capacity? I see Braids on the EDH official site listed as banned. But, I have also seen people online saying that she is legal as one of your 99, just not legal as a commander. Is that true?
As noted by PhroX, she is not. However, braids is legal in duel commander as a commander or as part of the deck.
That's good to know. Some shops in my area have 1v1 commander nights, but I don't know if they play with the "duel" rules or they keep the multiplayer rules/banlist in effect even for 1v1 events.
Thanks for the clarification! I can see how she could be quite annoying if she came down very early. But, she is vulnerable to a very wide range of removal options and is essentially a Magus of the Abyss in the mid-late game.

For me it takes forever to find a game. I often have to attempt to find a game and then I sit and watch the "Searching for Players..." screen, and then after a while I back out and try again. After about 3-5 tries it feels like something sticks, and then I have no problem finding games for a couple of hours.
You can have max of 4 copies of each common, 3 copies of each uncommon, 2 of each rare, and 1 of each mythic. So, the more packs you open of any particular set will diminish the total cards left available in that set and thus every pack you open you have a better chance to get the card you are looking for.
Mind blown. I didn't know that. It actually kind of makes me like the game even more. I think that people on Duels seem much more creative with respect to deck-building.
Right now the only possible candidate for a "new" platform is the much-rumored Magic NEXT. Even then, when Wizards released Duels it was said that this would be the only new software released in the medium and that it would just get updates. Since I run the Steam version I've got no problems when moving to a new PC but I've no clue how they're gonna handle it with consoles.
As disappointing as it may sound, I wouldn't bet on it given that currently Duels isn't cross-compatible...
I hope so. I really enjoy the medium (i.e., as an Xbox One game) and would be willing to spend a lot more on it if I knew that my cards would follow me from release to release of the game, that Duels will eventually have multiple formats (e.g., commander, modern), etc.
For instance, if WotC says that Duels will always be Duels, that even when new consoles come out and new releases of the game, and that my cards will follow me from console to console and through future versions of the game, OMGZ take my money!
I am wondering how this game is projected to evolve and when it will die and be replaced with an entirely new game?
I also play paper MTG, and am trying to decide how much $$$$ to sink into Duels. As we buy boosters and get new cards, will there be a rotation; will Zendikar block rotate out of Duels eventually? Will Duels be BFZ and SOI blocks and then just die entirely as a game? What is going to happen with this game?
It makes sense, and I don't mind when people do it. As soon as it becomes quite obvious who is going to win, just concede and get on with your day. I'm not going to stick around for 10 minutes trying to barely survive or let someone sit and control me out turn after turn -- I just quit and move on to the next game.

I do really like that people cannot purchase individual cards. It makes Duels quite fun, IMHO.
