I guess I was speculating on what the gods might do. Not promote my own design. And I know it's close to devotion without being devotion to pay tribute to the originals

Random thought of the evening on the drive home from Modern - Gods in Amonkhet. Unlike the Gods in Theroes who loved the devotion of their minions below, the Gods of Amonkhet actually require a sacrifice in order to become a creature or a being.
    -------
    Example:
Ra, God of Light - 3W

    Legendary Enchantment Creature

Ra, God of Light enters the battlefield with an Offering Counter.

    Indestructible

Until Ra, God of Light's Offering cost is paid, Ra is not a creature.

At your upkeep, gain life for each (W) you control in the mana costs of permanents you control.

Offering - Remove an Offering Counter from Ra and sacrifice permanents with at least 5 or more (W) in them: Ra, God of Light becomes a creature and returns a permanent with converted mana cost 3 or less to the battlefield.
    5/5
    --------
This also would allow WOTC to reprint Persist as a key mechanic allowing you to still net value out of your "sacrificed" creatures. Their lesser power and toughness plays thematically that they are lessing beings to the almighty Gods of the plane.

What do you guys think? To strong? To weak? Anything broken in Standard, Modern, or Frontier if something like this would be printed? Let me know below -

P.S. I also worked up another version while typing this involving more offering counters so you could sacrifice over turns instead of all at once, but the wording on it is really weird that I will have to post it later once I figure all that out.
