I don't like it. Too narrow. It's the Domri Rade of non-creature decks.

So LGS does this tuesday night modern every week. What normally ends up being 20-30 players and 4+ rounds of magic ended up being 7 players and a ghost (bye) so we can even get a 3 round swiss going today... if this is a sign to come, its time to jump ship to legacy.

Functional reprint of duals to soften the entry cost into legacy/vintage w/o diminishing the value of duals... shocks aren't comparable, need a land that has no drawbacks.

Why not make a Legendary cycle for them? Basically the exact same thing as the current dual lands w/ the Legendary supertype tacked on... people will still desire duals for legacy, but this will help soften the entry cost a little bit.

    I've been having success with:

    Some cards I've been considering:
Thassa, God of the Sea Affordable as a 1 of in the deck having the ability to help stack what you draw in this deck helps a ton. On the offchance she ever does become a creature she's very large.
Bident of Thassa Being 4 mana can be a drawback, but makes all your critters that much more of a threat. (more affordable then swords)
Vapor Snag + Remand A more tempo version of the deck that would probably run 4 scion of oona and a phantasmal or two.

The Champion effect does not target, it says "exile another fairy you control." Also, it is a "may" effect it has the words "sacrifice it unless" right in the effect. If you do not choose to exile a fairy you control you sacrifice the Mistbind.

    - Put Champion on stack. (no target because it does not target)
    - Someone removes Mistbind.
    - Champion effect resolves. (you may choose to not exile a fairy, and instead sacrifice the non-existant Mistbind)

My bad, I am fully aware that Modern Affinity does not use them because they are banned, I meant to say the mechanic Affinity itself. there are very few cards in the lists have seen that use the mechanic beyond 1-2 cards. for the most part, the lands just get Opal online max on turn quicker, and give one more counter with Plating, which has been acknowledged as ridiculous many times on this forum. The deck to rebuke me before is an entirely different animal, and a playset of Ornithopter would work just as well. and 'better than anything in Modern'? i'm thinking not so much, If you can empty your hand t1-2, Ratchet bomb for 0-1, now what do you do? I have played against Affinity, Plating is the real problem, but lack of trample/more flying leaves me unimpressed. whatever, I just want the red one

The lack of affinity cards in the current rendition of Robots is because the artifact lands are banned... if they were unbanned, then robots would run myr enforcers and frogmites galore.

I said nonblue control decks, so it couldn't have been Mono-U Tron. Also, WUR Control is Tier 1.

    My bad then~ didn't see "non-U"

There is no showing for any top tier 1-2 control decks that don't run blue.

@Dice_Bag: There are 3 major arctypes in magic: Aggro, Control, Combo. Things such as Tempo or Midrange fall into hybrid categories of these 3 arctypes. While I understand where you're coming from saying theres alot of control "elements" in existing decks, you cannot say there is any true pure OG Control present in the current Modern Cardpool.

The tools are there, but the card engines are gone. Control really needs things like JTMS, Ponder, Preordain or AV to keep going... Right now the 1 for 1 draw-go style decks aren't viable because there's no way to recover from an opponent that just dropped a 2 for 1 card.

Is not control. It's a ramp deck. Playing 8 sweepers and a removal/discard planeswalker does not change it from combo/ramp to control.

I assume he's reffering to mono U tron, which does run a heafty amount of CA and counters as well as some bounce/board wipes. Uses a grindy win condition such as mind slaver loop or sundering titan.

That said I'm pretty sure Mono U tron is the closest thing to a "top tier" draw go style control deck in modern right now... and it's not that good.

the artifact lands wouldn't hurt anything, the current Affinity doesn't even use them, but I would love the red one for galvanic blast without diluting my Burn

Threw this list together in a few minutes, with a little minor tweaking it could be stronger then anything else in modern right now... Tell me again how artifact lands don't have any impact on the format?

Again, image is everything. I understand different players/groups test different versions of decks and say, its fine.

Personally in our testing if your meta is Jund/Junk heavy you run red over green. If your meta is heavy aggro you run the green version, if your meta is more combo run white. Granted thats if you know the meta. We came to the conclusion going in blind the UBr version is probably easier to run and set your SB up.

To nly look at one or 2 builds and say its fine is just wrong. Because whats going ot happen is they unban a card and the pros break the format in half with it and then they have to reban it and listen to the masses complain.

I thought I made it clear we've tested the UBR version.

Are you claiming that the "pros" can take any given card on the BL and break it in half and do stuff with it that no one else can? I don't think any "pro" can do much different then what my playgroup has done with BB in a Fae build.

If you think there's some magical combo that requires a repetitive token producer, then why haven't the pro's broke Awakening Zone or Goblin Assault?

Again, the up tick in attendance STARTED at Alara when people had new toys to try and combat Fae. I agree Fae was still top dog until Conflux. But Fae had already dominated some time before Alara came out.

Either way, Fae never had to race affinity, storm, or infect; combat vs BGx Deathrite/Lili decks, have counterspell mana ready for an EoT living end but also leave mana open for a MP1 living end to back it up. BB is too weak for Legacy play so there is virtually no competitive data to pull from. All we got is standard data, and that data shows it had a decline when the new Jund Tools showed up.

Imagine it now with the even more popular BGx Tools, or having to fight against a deck that literally fills the board with critters turn 1... I think you need to take the deck back to the drawing board and re-evaluate how "powerful" you think BB is. It really isn't.

My playgroup has tested everything under the sun, UB Fae, UBR fae, UBW Fae 5c Fae... we just finished tested a pretty brutal BUG version of Fae w/ BB and JTMS. Ya know what the outcome was when we put it through the gauntlet?

    Deck - W/L%
    Jund - 30/70
    Junk - 45/55
    Infect - 50/50
    KikiPod - 75/25
    MeliraPod - 70/30
    Twin - 60/40
    Affinity - 10/90
    URtron - 45/55
    Living End - 60/40

We know we don't test vs. all the decks, but we feel strong that we've covered the majority of the meta to determine that BB is safe to unban. The types of decks that it can beat are generally slower creature based combo decks, however a Midrange deck with enough hand disruption and permanent removal shows BB for what it really is... a slow clunky token producer. I'm inclined to say Lingering Souls is better for a similar effect.

The hyper aggressive aggro decks like affinity and Tron just demolish Fae, even with Goyf DRS in the most recent build it couldn't handle the speed.

I challenge you (Bocephus) to put BB through the same testing gauntlet that my playgroup has, then see if you can come to the same conclusion that you have for it now.

Standard data is a much smaller card pool then what modern has to offer... people should think about that when they claim a card is broken because it was OP in standard.

EDIT: So it seems the BL announcement has moved up to midnight EST...
