Hello everyone......I am a professional cook and magic player, which unfortunately means I do not get to play in most, if not all paper magic tournaments as I almost always am working when they are going on. As a cook I do not make money out the yen yang, so cost in this game which is getting higher faster than inflation is an issue for someone who has loved this game since I first played it in the fall of '94. Since cost is an issue MTGO is out of the question for me. I have tried Magic League, but the judges there are all condescending pricks, so that is out of the question too. ANd with my work schedule I don't get to make to the card/comic shops enough when there are players present to meet anyone. I am looking for an online community to play in, using either MWS or cockatrice (I'd have to get that one, but getting is not an issue) where the game I have loved for the better part of 2 decades can be played, for free, by me. A community of good players who aren't the typical douches and a$$es you see on Magic League and MWS in general. Does this exist at all? I have searched high and low for this and have come up with nada. Someone please tell me that Magic: the Gathering, the greatest card game of all time, hasn't fallen into the unclinching grasp of the condescending pricks and can actually be enjoyed in a competitive manner online for free.
I played this for a bit but killed it for my izzet deck, try and cut down on anything that won't stay on the field, i.e instants, here are some really good cards that should be maindecked kalionan hydraworldspine wurm sometimes aetherling heres my list. This is a U/G build where yours is BUG
I like the idea of running it more creature heavy. I'm gonna test it a bit with 2 Worldspine Wurms, 3 Kalonian Hydras, and 3 AEtherlings, moving my control and the Simic Charms to the sideboard. If this works better I'll change the decklist in the op to reflect the new one.
This does not feel particularly competitive. I'm not really talking about tier 1 or anything but how are you expecting things to play out against, say, budget aggro decks?
I haven't been testing this long enough to say with certainty that it will handle aggro like RDW and the like, but from what I've experienced with it it can hang. I usually take a lot of damage, but a win at 1 life is the same as a win at 20 life. It works.
I didn't see a primer for this deck type and as I've never written one and am still in the testing phase of this deck I figured I'd post it here. It's really fun to play, fairly fast and has some really good answers for most anything out there. The main idea behind it is to cheat out cards with Unexpected Results. Most everything in it backs that idea up by either ramping your mana, controlling the board, creating a wicked board presence, or, in the case of Deadbridge Chant doing similar to Unexpected Results. I don't have a lot of card options for this deck, meaning you can play this card or this card or this card like primers do, so if anyone has thoughts on those lines they would be very welcome. It does pretty well against most every deck type out there, but I don't have a sideboard yet so it is a little weak. Help with that is very welcome too. So, without any further ado, here's the deck list.
The main reason I'm on this deck is that I'm just now getting back into competitive play after a few years out of it. This deck is cheap AND competitive. It might not be a tier 1 deck type (yet) but I've never been a big fan of doing exactly what everyone else does and the roguishness of this deck is right up my alley. Sideboard help please, and if there are thoughts on better card choices please feel free to voice them.
I have been playing since about the time Fallen Empires came out and have been for nigh a decade fiending for a game of old school magic that was played back then. I am looking for players who have been playing for about as long, or who have a love for "Old Magic" to play against. i play on MWS under quite a few different names and have been searching for other players who love the feel of old school Magic. If anyone is like this, looking for what has been lost over time, then please respond, get in touch with me, do what ever, and let's not let history become overgrown with dust (yes, I know dust doesn't grow, you get my point).
I have a feeling seeing what is available in Innistrad so far that B/R Vampires is going to be a contender. OK, maybe not on the level it was before, but still a strong enough deck to look out for. I have put together a preliminary deck list of what I am testing on MWS, but would very much like some suggestions, especially for the sideboard. The disruption is less than what I like, but still there, as well as plenty of removal and direct damage.
I need more artifacts to trigger the Galvanic Blast as getting all three Adaptive Automatons in play at the same time would be tricky. So far the Stromkirk Nobles and Bloodcrazed Neonates have been my workhorses for the damage and I may drop Olivia Voldaren as she is pretty mana intensive with her abilities and this deck thrives on the less is more rule (how that works in Magic? Well, just try the deck out and see for yourself).
To be honest I just threw this deck together and the spells I left out I can't really put my finger on at the moment, though I would be happy to discuss any and all suggestions anyone may have.
To learn how to do split cards, or flip cards as you call them just pull up an old patch that has them. It will be all right there for you. And as far ass the numbers go I have seen many previous patches that have put gaps in the numbers and all of them have loaded perfectly for me. Might want to check how you load things.
Make the Day/Night cards split cards. Looking at the visual spoilers that is what they look like they are going to be anyways. Solves all the problems. Also, how about numbering the cards right? It would be awesome to have a spoiler I could update on my own if someone could figure out that the card numbers need to be done in a manner facilitating that. Thanks for the effort, but with these 2 complaints right here I do have to say this is by far the worst spoiler for MWS that I have ever seen.
I want to put a deck together focusing on Glacial Chasm and Eon Hub with Helix Pinnacle with the infinite mana combo of Grim Monolith/Power Artifact as the win con, but I want the deck to be more annoying than just that. I have a few ideas such as Iona, Shield of Emeria, Linvala, Keeper of Silence, and I like the idea of making all of my permanents have shroud with cards like Enchanted Evening, Greater Auramancy, and Privileged Position, but as I try to put this jigsaw puzzle of a deck together I run into the problem of it being way to shaky until all the various parts are in play which would really only happen once in a blue moon. I have been playing on and off since Beta, but I don't play seriously, do not really own any cards and only play on MWS (which means all the cards are options). I want this to be a good solid deck for some good casual play, so please, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I put together this casual enchantment deck for 1 v 1 EDH. If anyone wants to say anything about the deck list not being legal in any way (Mana Crypt and Sol Ring I believe are the only 2 that make some of the banned lists out there) I will say I do not play seriously, just for fun and this deck really doesn't capitalize on there power too much. I also start out with 40 life. All I am asking for is some help tweaking this deck. Right now it is good and fun when it works but right now it is really slow. I added the Enchantresses which has sped it up a bit. I only play on MWS and do not own any cards of my own so any card legal for T1 (though I do not play with the original moxen, Black Lotus, Lotus Petal, or Ancestral Recall as those cards are just way too powerful and unbalancing) is good for consideration.
I picked Progenitus for my commander simply because I needed a 5 color commander. I didn't want to go with any of the other 5 color legends as Progenitus just seemed to work best. I have actually only needed to cast him in 1 game and that was only to keep my opponent's Progenitus off the battlefield. He is really only there to so I can play all 5 colors. Janky reason I know, but it works for me.
I did not build this to win tournaments or to even win every time. I like to have fun. Hell, this is a game, right? Am I the only one that hasn't forgotten that? I just need help tweaking it a bit so that I can win more than 1 out of every 10 games.
And so everyone is clear, this is not a multiplayer deck. I do not play multiplayer EDH and this deck is not designed for that. I posted this in the wrong forum and whatever moderator moved it over here only assumed it belonged here. Geniuses abound. I am amazed.
I would go with Sharuum hands down. Not only can you run both if Sharuum is your commander, but you open yourself up to a wider realm of possibilities. Your opponent/s can hate on you for playing Sharuum till the cows come home, but, little do they know, they are hating on a deck you are not playing which can work to your advantage as well, if you can pull it off.
So, to sum it up, with Sharuum you get both sphinxes, more card choices, and tactical advantage. Without you just have a cool commander.

By the way, you have 4 Elixir of Immortalitys in your sideboard there.

It should be pretty evident how this deck works, though there are a lot of parts to it. First and foremost I want a 2 of combonation of Sterling Grove/Greater Auramancy/Privileged Position in play followed by Enchanted Evening. That pretty much cements everything in play save for mass destruction/removal/bounce. After that there are six more cards I go for to pretty much set myself up for fun, fun, fun.....They are Prismatic Omen, Phyrexian Arena, Maelstrom nexus, Collective Restraint, Story Circle, Sigil of the Empty Throne, Doubling Season, and Aura Shards. After that it's just crazy shinanigans for me. I like to have Archmage Ascension in play with 6 counters on it plus Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur.....tutoring for 7 cards each turn is beyond sick......Copy Enchantment with anything.....I think you get the point.
