MTG Salvation

This may be a dumb question but I always hear the term deterministic thrown around a lot in the Storm community. I know in math it's about the lack of randomness in the sense that in a model you will get the same result depending on the given starting condition. Does it mean the same thing for our deck when we talk about "deterministic" kills / lines?

I was also thinking about putting it back in the sideboard. It's been a while since I've even seen a Spellskite. Any thoughts on the new leaks? Stabilization Orb and Karn, Scion of Urza seem interesting.

I noticed this list from the Pro Tour and I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on it. I see there are no Liliana's but the sideboard also seems pretty interesting. I think the lack of K-Command doesn't seem all that great though but overall it seems to be possibly going for more consistency.

I've been away from Magic overall for a few months but I figured I would dust off my Opals and see how things are going. I had a foray into Legacy but queue times were annoying so I'll stick with what I'm comfortable with. Besides the hype around G/B Tron and Lantern Control and the Humans deck, have there been many changes to our deck? I stopped around June or so but everything seems to be par for the course. I see that it's sliding off somewhat but that is usually how the cycle works.

Does anyone have any experience with the Esper Goryo's lists that have been running around lately? Not sure if this is the place for it but I am thinking of testing the following list this week. I noticed he dropped Griselbrand for another Obzedat but I'm going to do the reverse and try something more similar to Gerry T's list and run a single Griselbrand. I have seen several videos that have popped up the past few months running Goryo's in a Esper shell but it doesn't seem all that popular.

I still prefer the 3-2 split between Reshaper and Skyspawner. I think both have merits in the current meta and it comes down to preference I guess.

I recently traded some stuff away in order to finish the new Vizier-Druid combo. I wasn't sure on which list to pick out as I'm new to the archetype but I thought this one looked decent.

I'm going to pick up the pieces for the Melira CoCo version later. I see that everyone is kind of split on what version seems optimal or which pieces to play but it will be interesting to see how things pan out in the coming months. Overall I like the combo but I don't have enough time with it yet to determine whether I prefer one over the other obviously.

Has the difficulty in comboing off on MODO changed at all over the past few months? I've got a lot of the pieces needed to finish a rough CoCo build but I always heard pulling off the combo was a nightmare. I know Knightfall is also going around but I don't have Voice of Resurgences yet.

The other banners at this point are pretty neat but I like this one the most. I don't have any LGS's around me that play Modern so I've built up my MODO collection quite a bit but I should be moving in a few months. I may start building Bant Eldrazi in paper since there should be a modern scene where I'm going.

I've been running the Patrick Tilsen SCG Indy list for a while now but I'm looking to change some things up mainly by dropping to two Grim Flayer's and adding more discard. As for the sideboard here is what I'm thinking of running:



I like the utility I can get from Zealous Persecution and Dromoka's Command. I'm not sure on which Storm hate I want to bring but I will be trying out Rule of Law. I figured with two Nihil Spellbombs in the main, I could just run one Surgical in the sideboard. I'm still iffy on Fulminator Mage because half the time against Tron it doesn't seem to make a difference and I don't like the loss in tempo. By dropping a Fulminator I feel like I can add another Surgical Extraction or Storm hate. As for Sorin he's the only non-Liliana planeswalker that I've got and I love his synergy with Lingering Souls. May not be the best option right now so I may drop him for another slot. Nothing groundbreaking but I've ran into a lot of Affinity and Storm lately on MODO so I don't mind the losses to Spaghetti Tron by using less Fulminator's.

Anyone have an opinion on whether a 3rd Engineered Explosives is necessary? If not is having the extra sweeper worth it? I've been running two mainboard for a while now and I've been thinking of picking up a third.

Nope everyone knows you can't play tier 2 decks.

I've been running E-Wit as a one of mainboard and really like her especially if I'm running Reshapers. I've been trying out a list with a 3-2-1 split between Skyspawner, Reshaper and Eternal Witness and honestly prefer having her in the main deck. It may not be optimal but it's been pretty good so far and I like that setup more than just four Skyspawners.

Even though I hate to say it, because I love Huntmaster and or Kalitas, I do have to agree. It's unfortunate but they don't seem as great as they once were.

I haven't had a match in a long time where I've been happy to draw bolt. It has its merits but it's also falling behind. I don't know why Spiegel makes a big deal about it but you do seem to enjoy getting salty about midrange Jund. Anyways I don't see an issue with experimenting. It has to be done. They put up good results recently which goes quite a ways but I will try reducing the Bolt count along with dropping it all together. I'm not saying it's the way forward but maybe it has its place in certain metas.
