MTG Salvation

I bought the Tezzeret deck today and played a few games against a guy at my local gaming store who had a control deck. I couldn't touch him for the 3 games we played and then we swapped decks. I actually won a game against him with his own deck despite his advanced level of skill compared to my own newbie skills. That tells me that you are only as good as the cards in your deck, so I'd like to ask can anyone recommend me a few decks that I could have a look at for standard? I understand that there are three types; aggro, control and midrange? and also, when playing standard do I have to use cards from the latest block? (Aether Revolt at the current time). Just looking for some advice guys, I work shifts so I won't be able to get to the FNM or standard events for weeks at a time so any tips would be remarkable. Thank you
