I run all the typical bounce effects for Animar, so in the right circumstances I could see him generating tons of card advantage, but 4 for a Brainstorm on a stick seems overcosted, even if we can typically rely on Animar's cost reduction.
In my experience you won't be recasting him much but if you do actually do it two or three times it won't be for the full 3U. Might be worthy, I would playtest it.
-I had a really hard time actually winning the game once I established control through drawing about 6 cards per turn cycle. I know I was missing tree of perdition and chainer, dementia master which are my planned primary win conditions, but does anyone have any other ideas on how to win? Preferably not mairsil reliant. The game I won I just used army of the damned.
Chimeric Staff and Aetherling help killing with combat damage, but you need 21U open if you want to one-shot. I'd probably play a grind game and win with repeated Hateflayer/Spikeshot Elder activations.
-I had trouble with call to the grave type effects, because mairsil would often be the only creature I had in play. Something resilient to put a bunch of creatures into play to protect against sacrifice effects may be required so I don't get set back every turn to them.
Orochi Harchery is my main token generator, there's also Spawning Pit too that doubles up as a way to put charge counters on Mairsil.
I think I want the ability to give mairsil life link to get some crazy life gain off mass damage effects like crypt rats
Do you guys think Prakhata Pillar-Bug for the cheaper activation or Jorubai Murk Lurker for the ability to affect other creatures is better?
The bug seems to be the best one since you only want to give Mairsil lifelink. I wonder how many damage effects you need to run to justify the lifelink enablers.
Without Quicksilver's help blink is gonna be essential else it's gonna be a pain in the ass caging cards. We'll probably need to resort to stuff like Ghostly Flicker and Nephalia Smuggler despite being slow or one-shot. Also a more control-like play with abilities to play on each opponent's turns, which needs more untap effects caged.
Isn't turning your opponent's lifetotal to 4 with a caged tree and shooting them for 4 with a spikeshot elder not more effecient? No untap required. If you have an untapper caged, that's great, but not vital.
For the same cost and adding a possible untap effect if you want to combo with something else there's Hateflayer
But seriously they used to do mega-mega cycles in the past: remember the mega legendary land cycle that took like five blocks to flesh out? It started with Teferi's Isle in Mirage.
They are sort of doing it with famous sorceries and Magus, we had Wheel and Will so far.
Have we got a 3-color token since the new border was adopted?
Based on what I can remember and doing what is probably a poor Gatherer search the only 3+ color token generators I can find are Hazezon Tamar (which has no tokens) and Godsire, at least before these cat dragon tokens possibly come out.
There is no precedent for color indicators on tokens, otherwise they'd *all* need them. The most recent multi-color token prior to this is Omnath's; no indicators.
So I don't think these are real and mostly that because of what I'm interpreting as a syntax error on Wasitora:
"If the player can't..." is and unusual phrasing of this ability for MTG rules text. Typically this would be "If that player does not..."
Also "you create..." instead of just "create." Both of these are weird phrasing for MTG rules text. The word 'you' here is completely unnecessary.
The first example actually introduces rules confusion, because now I have to define "can't" or 'not being able to do something' as an event in the rules distinct from that particular thing simply not happening.
So setting aside my general lack of enthusiasm for more indulgent five color bulk, I doubt these are real at all.
"If that player does not..." implies that the opposing player had a choice, where Wasitora does not give them a choice. They have to sac something. If they can't you get a token. The 'you' removes any confusion as to who gets the token.
Compare Spawnwrithe and Giant Adephage. There has never been any confusion as to who gets the token from a combat damage trigger created by a permanent you control. In fact, when you do see these effects give tokens to players besides the active player, they specify.
But neither has updated text with "create" afaik or have a trigger that involve the opponent doing something.
I wonder what that half cut off land does. I hope it's a generic ETBT 5 color land, of course, being uncommon would point to there being a colorless deck since it wouldn't be in that.
It's either the Abzan tapland or Crucible you're talking about.
I hope for O'Kagachi's sake these are fake. That's got to be the most poorly represented character on cardboard in quite some time. I'd expect it to be some kind of 20/20 indestructible for ten or so mana with some weird drawback (Destroy all creatures on the battlefield?). Not a 6/6...
But that's not O-Kagachi at full power, it's him right after That Which Was Taken was taken (heh).
New banlist is up and Protean Hulk is unbanned. Thoughts? It can tutor any creature I'm pretty sure a small package for it could be included without muddling the deck so much.
In my experience you won't be recasting him much but if you do actually do it two or three times it won't be for the full 3U. Might be worthy, I would playtest it.
Untapping Mairsil.
Removal for indestructible stuff I like and y'all could try: Shauku, Endbringer, Brittle Effigy and Void Stalker?

Also maybe deathtouch enablers like Skittering Heartstopper for mass removal?

Well, except the frame itself.
