I can't recall ever laughing this hard at any podcast, ever, or just about anything. I teared up due to laughter, and considering what was discussed in the podcast, it slightly concerned me. You have simultaneously made my day and made me unable to sleep tonight. Epic.

New thread! And new people! Hello steel1987, Kennethwong, vezopiraka, and Powerrox93!

Not much new here, still looking for a job, exhausted three towns, and still nothing. Two interviews and a ton of waiting. However, I've started cooking, and I like doing it.

Went to the Rise of the Eldrazi prerelease. Opened an All Is Dust, a Kozilek, a Dranla, and went 5-1. Went green-black with a deck that was more aggressive than I thought should be for this format, but it worked. Managed to cast Kozilek and a Spider Umbra on it in the same turn, and drew 8 cards and gained four life off a Momentous Fall. Also, saw someone cast an Emrakul in round four. They shouted it out and windmill slammed it down. I played him round five and won off that eight-card Momentous Fall. I like the new limited format, it's not crazy aggression or insane color math. Level up, eldrazi, and rebound all look pretty cool. It's a shame they only had one set in the block for level up, hopefully they'll do more of it in the future.

Not much good going on here. No news about a job, and the one company that called me back said it was an error. I'm running out of time, and I REALLY don't want to go back to Manteca. And sick. Bleh. At least I can apply to a bunch of places online.

Went to both the pre-release and release this set. Pre-release, got an ok U/W deck with Goliath Sphinx and Iona, Shield of Emeria, some good fliers, and a couple Quicksands. 48 people meant 6 rounds, start off 3-0, then go 0-3 after playing a crazy good deck, probably misplaying a bunch the next match, and not seeing any creatures outside of my opening hand the last one. I don't get product due to bad tiebreakers (they pay to a lot of places at this shop.) Almost went the next day, but was tired. Went to release, got a good R/B deck with Vampire Nighthawk, the 5/4 that makes a 3/3 guy when they attack unless they pay 3, and Comet Storm. Start off 2-0, run into a deck with Sorin Markov, Admonition Angel, and Kalitas, Bloodchief of Ghet. Nice deck. Get owned, lose game 1 round 4 to an Ob Nixilis, then refocus, and assure myself it won't end up like the prerelease. Get a bit lucky and beat the guy, lose the final round, but get 10th, and get a random prize for having a game win % close to an arbitrary number. 4 packs of product, first contains a foil mythic, then I see it's an Eye of Ugin, with the rare being Selective Memory. Next pack I crack, the rare is Eye of Ugin. My roommate and I were laughing for about a minute. Got an Admonition Angel, though, so it was ok.

    @SDA: Thanks, but I did kinda fail. ^^;

    Happy Valentine's Day/Chinese New Year!

I just got kicked out of college for academic reasons, which were caused by family/personal issues affecting my ability to give my best efforts to my schoolwork. I have vague ideas of what to do (obviously, get a job), but I'm not sure how to tell my family. Help/hugs?

Well, this is an NFL playoff weekend, so quite a few people would be watching that. (I lack a TV up at my apartment, but am an avid football follower) Also, some people start back at college this weekend, or already have started last week and are hanging out with friends or doing homework. It can get pretty active here as some of the more casual visitors come back.

    Hello and welcome, SGT_Chubbz!

Interesting stuff here: I got an e-mail this morning saying that I was going to be expelled from UC Davis due to grades. My overall GPA there is 2.14, the only bad quarter being last one (1.17), with crazy stuff happening that I won't go into here. In order to appeal, I have to write a personal statement, 500-1000 words, saying what I did wrong, how to correct it, and a future academic plan. I can do that, and I know that there are some good writers here that could help me polish it. Would anyone like to proofread it/help me with it if I send it to them?

Happy New Year (in PST)! I have no real plans for the 31st, but the 1st shall be spent playing lots of Magic. I used some money to get a box of Zendikar for Christmas, and cracked:

    All 5 fetchlands
Foil Misty Rainforest in addition to said fetches
    [CARD]
    Ob Nixilis
    [/CARD]
    [CARD]
    Nissa Revane
    [/CARD]
    [CARD]
    Day of Judgement
    [/CARD]
    [CARD]
    Goblin Guide
    [/CARD]
    [CARD]
    Mindbreak Trap
    [/CARD]
    Foil Archive Trap
All in all, pay $108, get about $130, with those, the other rares, and good uncommons, like Vampire Nighthawk. Got a bunch of good stuff for the cube, changed out a few cards in some EDH decks, and will head down to the card shop tomorrow. Head back up and start college on Sunday :(, but other than that, things are going good.

    Merry Christmas!

    Hello and welcome, Love's Not!

Not a whole lot new over here. Finals week came and went (8 AM final for 75% of your grade, then 6 PM final later that day in the toughest class ftl). Came back home a couple of weeks ago, and have enjoyed doing nearly nothing. Hanging out with friends is getting a bit tough, a lot of them have work at unfortunate times, but we did get together last Friday to draft. I got a Misty Rainforest and an insane mono-black deck, then played some EDH and went home. Going to celebrate Christmas with the family, relax, and have some cake.:D

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello and welcome to all the new (and returning) people!

I got to hang out with my immediate family and neighbor for the day. Not much new here, I might get a temporary job at school installing software. Tuition fees are going up 32% due to education budget cuts in CA, and a bunch of protests have happened, and solutions are being proposed. Finals in two weeks, and a bunch of homework until then.

I'm back up at school. Summer was rather uneventul, other than getting a D&D game going a couple weeks before I had to leave. Now to start upper division engineering courses.

The deck needs more Mulldrifter. Now. I'd take out the Voidslime for it, it just looks tough to cast. I want to see a bit more early defense, with something like a Wall of Air or Wall of Frost. If the mulldrifter and wall come in, the Compulsive Research might want to leave, to avoid having too many 3-drops. Serra Sphinx might also be good on offense and defense.

Went to the Zendikar prerelease, up in Davis for the first time. All the other times, I went to the shop down in Modesto with my friends, but no one was going there this time. Got the R/W and B/W fetchlands, and a Sorin Markhov in my pool, but ended up with a U/W deck with stall, fliers, and a lot of removal. Stared off with a draw due to me beating him quick, then him pulling out a win at time with the 5/5 shroud flier. I lose to a couple turn 1 Scythe Tiger, turn 3 Scythe Tiger, then crush the next three rounds, barely winning the last one by getting a Living Tsunami out to defend myself. I had to attack every turn because his Luminarch Ascension had 3 counters on it, and he had two guys to my flier. Got 5th out of 48, won 6 packs, got a foil U/R fetch and a Warren Instigator from that. On top of that, the tournament had free pizza and soda from the place down the street.:o Best. $30. Spent. Ever.

Not much new going on here, except for me playing five games of Magic at once, and somehow going 3-2. Summer's still going along, and I'm still helping around the house, and now at our neighbor's house.

One of my friends asked me to help make a new format. He said he wanted a big-deck format to have an appeal to "Johnnies" similar to how EDH has an appeal to "Timmies." I wanted to see what you thought of the basic rules, as this is a first draft:

There are no life totals. The game is instead played to a certain number of "points."
Each time you do a combo with a deck, you earn a certain number of points based on how many cards the combo has in it, if the combo was performed before in the game, and possibly how long it takes to set up. (We have loosely defined a combo as a powerful interaction between cards that allow someone to kill a player or suddenly have a powerful board presence. How "cool" the combo is would be a nice addition, but too much politics come in there.)
After a combo is demonstrated, if it would kill another player, you and the player you kill each shuffle your decks and start over again. (A variation a friend brought up would be to remove their graveyard from the current game, so as to force them to have different combos in their deck, but I'm not sure that's necessary. Can only kill one player, so infiite combo is a bit hosed. Used to disrupt a powerful presence on board, or a feared threat.)
If you take a certain amount of damage (5?) from any one source, discard a card (or mill a card or two?). This is to avoid making beatdown while setting up completely unviable. I was thinking, to mirror an EDH's "general", to give each person a "signature spell." This is RFG'ed to start the game, and costs its normal amount, but after it is played, it is RFG'ed again, like a general, costing 3 more to play each time. However, it would not give a restriction as to your deck's colors.
Deck size 150 cards, to fit in 2 deck boxes, 2 copies per card max, to promote diversity. A B&R list likely involving cheap, general tutors (Demonic Tutor) or cheap combo enablers (Mishra's Workshop, Crop Rotation, etc.)

Not a whole lot new here. Still no place hiring, but I'm helping Dad out with chores around the house. It's great seeing my friends, and we're playing D&D again, which I haven't done in forever. We hung out tonight, but we had an argument and someone quit for the session.:(

Went to the M10 prerelease, 20 people, went 4-1, third on tiebreakers after going 4-0. Everyone else's deck just seemed to fail, then mine failed last round. About two games out of 11 weren't blowouts one way or the other. I opened Ant Queen, the 9/9 shroud for 5GG, Elvish Piper (living the dream by putting both the behemoth and Ant Queen into play for G), Guardian Seraph, Magebane Armor, and Hive Mind as rares. Went W/G/r with a good curve, two Blinding Mage, an Acidic Slime, splashing for a bolt and a fireball. Sick deck, no one else hitting mana properly, then a couple mulls to 5 in the last round.

VSA-- In just about any tribal deck, I always like Mirror Entity. That, and maybe Path to Exile as well. Not exactly sure what to cut to make either of them, though, assuming the paladin goes out for Spectral Procession. Maybe the armorsmith, but he moves your team out of Volcanic Fallout range. I'm not sure about Silence maindeck, maybe those out for a 4th Harm's Way and 2 Mirror Entity, or 3 Mirror Entity. Maybe a SB looking like
4 Silence, 4 Path to Exile, 4 Stillmoon Cavalier, 3 Elspeth, and make Ajani 4 of main. Budget might make this impossible, in that case, put some Safe Passage in SB for lulz.

I finallly got my internet working again (it was crazy for the past week and a half or so). It took changing our internet provider, but we have wireless internet at home now!:D I get to hang out with friends and play loads of D&D and/or Magic tomorrow.

Cards I want from M10: 4x: Elf Lord, Zombie Lord, Goblin Lord, Doom Blade 2-3x: Baneslayer Angel, Captain of the Watch, Elite Vanguard, Guardian Seraph, Harm's Way, Silence, White Knight, Djinn of Wishes, Hive Mind, Ice Cage, Sleep, Time Warp, Black Knight, Ball Lightning, Acidic Slime, Ant Queen, Great Sable Stag, Master of the Wild Hunt, Protean Hydra, Gorgon Flail (Most of these I'll be fine with getting as many as I can, but I won't need them outside of cube/EDH decks)

Decks to make: Soldiers, Vampires, Hive Mind + Pacts

    No wrath = :facepalm::(
