Then he was just salty and probably didn't even have a proper answer to tron. It happens, it's part of playing modern. As long as you weren't being annoying while playing, he was the one at fault.

Man if you really like tron and want to play it, just play. He probably was just a moron, people would complain just about anything. Yeah, it's not fun to get wrecked turn 3 by tron, but the same could be said about storm, merfolk, infect, hollow one, humans, scapeshif, and so on: the list is just too long. This is modern, this is why you can't build a deck and expect to win every game. And that is why you get to side for god's sake. Luck comes and goes, there is still the chance that you won't close tron quick enough to retaliate against his strategy. AND YOU PLAYED A WRETCHED GRYFF NOT EVEN A KARN LIBERATED! He was just salty, that's all. Just for the sake of knowing, what was he playing?

EDIT: didn't realize it was pauper lol. My point still stands though: don't let others dictate what you should or should not play based on their salt levels

Also note that if you sacrifice a clue to pay for shrapnel blast's cost, you won't draw a card

A friend of mine plays shrapnel blast in a deck he calls "Big Red". He plays it in conjunction with solemn simulacrum and cards like ichor wellspring

The ability triggers on upkeep. So your opponent can respond to the trigger before it resolves, using a doom blade on whichever target he wants. Except of course for the one that has already built-in protection from black

  • posted a message on Organizing a non-sanctioned casual event
Hi! This is my first time posting here, so I hope I got the posting place right.

A friend of mine is organizing a casual tournament and, as the title says, it's not sanctioned. The format is standard; the entrance is free and there is a small prize for the winner (a gift pack of I recall correctly) and a foil basic land for the top 8.
My friend is the head of a cultural club/association (idk how do you define that in English) so this would be organized in full autonomy from a shop.
Since he wants to get casual players to play in a tournament (they usually don't: we have a lot of casual players in our LCS, but they never participate in tournaments, even FNM, scared by the "big cards") he has decided to allow proxy cards to all players.

    Then this happened:
When he was publicizing the event on Facebook, on a MTG related group of our province, a judge told him he cannot make this event because
    1) he cannot allow proxy cards, even in a casual event
    2) he cannot use the term "Magic" to publicize the event: my friend called the event "Science Magic - casual tournament" and he says that he can't just call it Magic

When my friend asked clarification on the matter, the judge deleted the entire post (he is an admin of that Facebook group) and sent him a message threatening him to report all this to Wizard to ban his DCI.

Now, after all this long premise, I want to ask: was my friend wrong about these 2 point (proxy and "Magic")? Even if the tournament is casual and non-sanctioned?

    Thanks

  • posted a message on A question about Tsabo's Decree and Eladamri Lord of Leaves
Tsabo's decree targets only a player. The player then discards and destroys, but he/she doesn't target his/her cards
So yeah, of he says elves while casting tsabo's decree, you discard and destroy all elves, even if you control eladamri

  • posted a message on Pirates getting pulled in too many directions?
Anyway having too many mechanics is probably a problem (or a good thing) tied to the fact that pirates, as a tribe, are spread over 3 colours

  • posted a message on Pirates getting pulled in too many directions?
Well, the actual pirate mechanic is "raid", all other mechanics (some of which are shared with other tribes, Like explore) support this One: pirates seem to be made to abuse combat phase to trigger raid and other non-keyworded pirate mechanics (like Admiral Beckett Brass).
Imo we will undoubtely see "raid pirates", diversified by the other "lesser" mechanics

  • posted a message on What to choose: Archenemy vs planeswalker decks?
I agree with Taeolas regarding Archenemy: if it'only the 3 of you, It could not be the best game experience. I would go with the Planeswalkers' decks and not with the Commander ones though, especially if your Kids are new to the game. Although you could go with Commander, but the decks are a lot more complex than Planeswalker ones. How old are tour Kids?
