Both Ranger and Scout are fairly underpowered. Something that specializes ranged attacks instead of magic is pretty much automatically going to be "underpowered" though. That's one thing about 3.5 that is kind of annoying. At higher levels, any non-spellcasting class is technically "underpowered". But who cares? If you think of a fun concept, screw "underpowered" or "overpowered".
Swordsage is a good class, btw. Light armor plus monk-type wisdom bonuses to AC, plus maneuvers and such. Swordsage is probably my favorite class in the whole game. Warblade is pretty good too. Mix them with Swashbuckler to pick up Weapon Finesse and Insightful Strike, maybe Fighter to grab a few free feats, or pure wizard for spellcasting and you could be pretty scary. I believe there's even a martial school that uses the bow. I could be wrong on that though.
Ranger actually seems like a good choice. Snipe enemies from the deck of the ship before they even get close. Maybe take the feat that gives you a range bonus and get a distance bow?
Sorry been distracted with AoK's new thread and RL internship (Had to do a research presentation forum today actually), will finalize the backstory this weekend and be ready, as much as i want to get marbles or stuff like those they seem rather contrary to the nature of the character.
Edit:
@Caex; how about the intimidate thing? can we make it work of Str instead of Cha?
Go ahead with the Str instead of Cha. We'll say players can use Cha or Str for Intimidate checks, whichever is higher.
I'm just gonna find another skyship, singlehandedly board it and take it hostage, and convince the crew to work for me instead of their captain with a brilliantly inspiring speech.

of this one. Some serious real life stuff just popped up and I've got to take care of it before I have the time to play mafia again.
Last time I checked, anyway.
/in, 0 games.
Everyone disappeared (including me, due to various things).
Still up for running this game. Just need everyone to confirm characters and such if we want to go ahead with this.
I'llwe'll have onceIwe get rolling. On an unrelated note: Bump bump bump bump it up.
"Carefree pirate" just doesn't lend itself to interesting backstory.
Maybe I'll swing him in a slightly darker direction. Maybe the carefree attitude is a cover for something? Hmmmmm...

Ranger//Soulknife/Soulbow ftw?
I'll just assume they're basically the size of standard sea ships until I'm told otherwise. But in the sky. With balloons and magic.
And what wrote "Listen" on the chalk board?
And what knocked on/opened the airlock?
Go ahead with the Str instead of Cha. We'll say players can use Cha or Str for Intimidate checks, whichever is higher.
EDIT: I see Amadi updated his bio as well.

...how big are the skyships, btw?
EDIT: And no, AoK, I'm not going to try to assassinate your NPC or steal her airship. I've got other plans.
Screw piloting your skyship yourself. Just use skeletons and zombies to do all the manual labor! It's brilliant.
@AoK: So I was thinking... Can I have Pistol Daggers? Saves me some money on items. Plus it's awesome.
