Last Friday I played in a 24 person FNM with a one drop zoo variant, due to my preferred style of play of just rushing down the opponent with great success. I went 4-0 against all tier one or tier 2 decks. Round One: Jeskai Control 2-0, Round Two: Death and Taxes 2-1, Round Three: 5 Color Death Shadow 2-0, Round Four: Jeskai Control 2-1. My apologies as this was quite some time ago so I cannot recall all of the details of the matches, but if you would like to know more details I will do my best to recall the events. I am thinking of dropping Kytheon, Hero of Akros and adding another loam lion and another Ghor-Clan Rampager, simply due to kytheon very rarely transforming in this deck due to the amount of creature destruction in the format.
Yeah, it really is a shame that this can't run blood moon. I was really trying to get the best without that card [blood moon]. I'm liking the idea of the black splash for more land hate. I was also thinking of perhaps running some venser, shaper savant for maybe some land bouncing and tempo.
I would like some feedback on the deck list that I have been piloting recently, it has been doing decently well, but it hasn't gotten the amount of exposure as I would like so far. I'm also somewhat newer to modern, so the additional help from all of you veterans would be truly invaluable to me.
The deck plays very similarly to R/G ponza, but with the added control of counter magic/ card draw. I am not sold on the 6 slot or 5 slot creatures, although I do love Frost Titan tapping down every turn. Works well with the LD concept of the deck. Keiga, the tide star is just so much value for the cost. Thragtusk is of course a beast, and glyph keeper is just fun for recursion.
Open to any and all suggestions. Thank you all for looking at the deck.
Hi all, I am looking to get back into mtg after many years out. I would like some critique on my deck list I have made. This deck is meant to come in cheapish to start, but add pieces and more money later to make it better. I love black and red together due to what they add to their play style. Without further ado, the decklist:
I am considering coming back and playing MTG after many years of absence. I've been looking for a new hobby to keep my mind occupied and remember having a lot of fun with MTG in the past. The last block I played in was Timespiral so I haven't been active for many of the newer changes. If I were to come back ideally to play competitively, what would be the best way to achieve this? My friend and I were considering buying some booster boxes just to increase the newer card stock that I have but I don't know which set to try for. I'm just looking for any and all advice, including to not come back and play at all.
