Shuffle 36 cards you like the look of with 24 lands of the appropriate color and just start playing.
You'll figure out which cards work and which ones don't, swap out the ones that don't work for other cards you like the look of.
Repeat
Get a friend to build a deck with the same method using your cards (Or their own if they have a similar assortment of cards) to have someone playing a deck at the same power level as you.
Have fun
Edit: Don't worry about "What's good" or what format to play at this point. Just build decks and get a feel for the game.
That sounds good to me, time to start messing around with all the random werewolf cards i got they look awesome
Yeah its extremely overwhelming to have so many cards all at once, its taken me quite a while just to look through them all. Due to the fact that all the cards are from random sets i will probably be going modern but very casual for now. I would like to go standard at some point but for now ill stick to learning how to play first before i start buying anything new.
Hi everyone, Im new to magic and was wondering if i could get any tips for making my first deck, a friend of mine was getting rid of a bunch of cards from his connection so i bought them off of him for cheap, I now have about 3000 cards from all different sets and i have no idea where to start. I was hoping to try making some mono decks to start with but i honestly dont know what cards are good or not, can i just mess around and see what works or are there actual beginner deck builds i can follow if i have the cards needed? The cards i have are all pretty even in number between the 5 colors as well as many multi colors and artifacts, but again im not sure where to start or if these cards are even good. But even so, just having all these cards has really driven me to learn this game, it seems like a lot of fun. Any tips would be greatly appreciated
