Most of our rusting Cold war equipment is being sold to other countries.

According to the CIA world fact book China spends a higher percentage on the military than we do, forget the actual spending, they are, in theory putting more strain on thier economy with thier military than we are.

What makes you think the waste is coming from the military? Is there no blame on the politicians who sent us to war and keep us there? Corrected statement to read "Alot of money is being wasted by politicians"

If our regulars were all special forces (They can't be, just look at the physical expectations), then we would only have one "play" in our areas of attack, and we wouldn't have a supply chain.

Contractors are paid (gs-5) ~ twice the pay of an E-1, so contractors are NOT the answer.

Proclamation of Rebirth + Martyr of Sands is a good engine to force the overextend into a Wrath. Would beat ghostly prison in here, I think. Also, Reveillark is great for all of your creatures, to similar effect.

the zoo MU is not that bad, it is tough though. As for the cascade combos if they are that big in your meta add chalice to your SB and have discard in the main and SB... problem solved, as their solutions to it slow them down enough for you to win. Making them discard their cascade spell is awesome, and sacing ravager and your board before living end is pretty good too.

    Top 4 Philly Open Extended

    1789 constructed rating going in

So about that swamp thing... I have found through testing that our best chance against Zoo is to outrace them if we can, as with Plating, Ravager and Master of Etherium and thier own damage I feel like we can bring the 20 down faster. The downside to this arrangement is that Zoo decks run very effective maindeck removal, the best against us being PtE. If they take down a Ravager or a Master with that PtE we will probably not draw another for the game, so we are left with Thopters and smaller than theirs creatures. The swamp fetch does two things, it allows access to Thoughtseize (and Duress out of Board, and Darkblast vs Elves) to get rid of additional removal (Bant Charm...) and allows us to get through with our small creatures, as instant equipping platting for double black is amazing in this match-up. I never wanted a nexus all day. I felt the basics were just so much better than them based on the amount of Path's I expected.

I did not run Blood moon as 8 spot discard cards and 4 needles in board should be enough time to beat Thopter or Depths decks. Sans the needle we also beat Scapeshift, Hypergenesis, Hivemind, and other random combos. I felt that blast in the board and ravager main would be enough to beat Dredge.

The SB is pretty basic, I think, with the biggest questionable choice being the last minute replacement of Relic of Progenitus with Darkblasts.

    SB plan as follows,

Zoo +4 Blast -4Thoughtseize, if seen Damping Matrix or Jitte (or a player who keeps large removal hands) then reset maindeck -4 thoughtcast +4 duress.

Thopter Combo, or Depths +4 duress, +4 needle, -4 Thoughtcast, -3 Enforcer, -1 Island

Dredge +4 Shrapnel Blast, -4 Thoughtseize

Elves +3 darkblast, +4 Shrapnel Blast, -3 Enforcer, -4 Thoughtseize

Ask about other boarding I think from there on its pretty straight forward.

Guys, i hate to say it because i love this deck. but its officially dead now. even with noone packing hate against it there are decks in the meta that are heavily played that just auto win against affinity. its time to bury it im afraid =(

Funny, I just top 4ed Affinity at the Philly Open in Extended and won 4x Foil Misty Rainforests for it.

Sort of kind of Tournament report is coming, I went 5-1-1, drawing into Top 8, I played against 3 Zoo Variants in the Swiss, losing one of those matches. I also played against Dredge and Hivemind, winning those. Played and beat combo elves in Top 8 and losing to Zoo in Top 4.

  • posted a message on Pithing Needle naming....
I figure with so many random decks running around in extended it is good to know what we can fully do with pithing needle, and against what matchups.

    Zoo:
Pithing Needle, no responses? Then I name that fetch you have in play.

    Depths Combo:
Do we always name Vampire Hexmage?

    Tezzerator:
    Academy Ruins,
    Thopter Foundry

    Affinity:
    Arcbound Ravager,
    Cranial Plating

    What else am I missing?

You can also do FNMs at Brave New Worlds in Willow Grove, catch the r2 Warminster from Temple U station and get off at Willow Grove Station.

    http://www.bravenewworldscomics.com/

The Other location on 2nd street to the best of my knowledge also drafts on Tuesday nights.

As for getting to West Philly, catch the Broad Street Line to the Blue line (called by the locals the "el") and get off near 40th, and walk 3 blocks.

Nope, the copies are put on the stack, although they are never "played". And the effects never take effect until the spell resolves and you must "Replicate" as you play the spell, not after resolution.

Nope, Replicate triggers when you play the spell, so Seething Song + Illuminatus will not be inf... if you had 18 mana open though you can deal 24 dmg....

    12 Tron
    10 Forest
    1 Kiki-Jiki, MIrrorbreaker
    1 Darksteel Colossus
    1 Sky HUssar
    3 Moment's Peace
    4 Sundering Titan
    4 Wall of Roots
    4 Sakura-Tribe Elder

    4 Sensie's Divining Top
    4 Sylvan Scrying
    4 Reap and Sow
    4 Tooth and Nail
    4 Eternal Witness

I guess that would be close to what I would play, I like Hellkite, but alows them a turn to play stuff which seems risky, with what I have if they have no disruption, Kiki - HUssar is Auto Win, double Titan nukes most peoples lands in entirety, Kiki + Colosus is great when they run alot of non-basics / non rav duals.

@ point #1 : if you ran 4x Titan that colorless mana wouldn't be so useless...

@point #2 : with 4 x 3 tron iteration in a deck and 60 cards, assuming no top in the first 3 turns, will almost always give you 2 types of lands, and if you cut that in half you will well.... cut that probabliity in half... Plus you kind of contradict yourself there...
its funny, ive actually never played with urzatr0n in my build.

    and then...
maybe instead 0f trying t0 draw the lands, just rely 0n fetching them with scrying/reaps? i played with 2-3 0fs each and it w0rked much better than 4 c0pies.

@ point # 3 the point is actually to play two cards from your library, Piper into Jiki seems bad to me... I don't know about you, and thats assuming the piper lives. And as for the enough mana to play artifact creatures, 2x sundering titan is better than 1x sundering titan....
