I assumed the thread was kinda inactive, so I built Sultai Delver. My Visions got sold in the process, but out of the mentioned Decks Shardless is probably the least interesting for me.
Delver is a lot of fun, the Deck punishes mistakes hard and rewards perfect sequencing, which unfortunately led to me defeating myself more often than I want to admit.
As I started with a list containing Leovold and TNN, I even brewed something similar to the Leovold BUG Control you've mentioned.
Miracles and Storm are basically the next options. At this point it's more likely to be Miracles due to the easy transition to Gush Mentor in Vintage.
I'll probably end up playing all those decks eventually and getting rid of most of my Modern cards will speed up the process.
The eternal formats offer more to me than to play vs Aggro and Tron in Modern 24/7. Blue based control decks are pretty much way to go and i always preferred counter battles over creature combat. Higher powerlevel means more fun in Blue and Legacy seems to be better balanced overall.
Guess you can't mess up a format you never pay attention to, huh?
I played Standard and Modern for a while and always preferred more control focused decks. So far i was most interested in control, tempo and combo decks. After watching a few Legacy videos on Youtube i got really interested in the format.
Blue is pretty much a must. Brainstorm, Ponder and FoW should be included and i want to play sth with a high skillcap, as it will probably be me my only Legacy deck. Price is not an issue cause i'm only playing on mtgo and duals are affordable.
It doesn't matter if the deck is difficult to play or requires knowledge of the format, as i'm willing to suffer through it. I already have Snapcaster, Ancestral Vision and a lot of blue, black and white modern stuff.
I would flavor wise prob tend to sth like bug, but even there are so many possibilities
Modern is more of a long term investment for me, as you pay effectively more for Standard due to the ever shifting meta. It hurts to spend 500$ once, but imo it's worse to buy a 300$ deck every 6 months. If I got the cards, it lowers the price of my future decks by a lot.
I will probably buy the deck next month after selling any unnessecary copies of my Standard cards.
Imo going for the eldrazi is well invested money, as I can use cavern, hierarchs and quite a few other cards for several other decks in the current format.
Any lists you would go for? I looked up a few lists on the forum of which not even all contain path or similar removal. I would probably go for the one on MtGgoldfish, as it seems to be quite straightforward.
Hurts my wallet to pay over 300$ for the 11 really expensive cards though...
I just looked at bant spirits and it seems kinda nice. How does it perform vs the meta decks? The cost is only about 100$ lower than bant eldrazi after all.
I don't want to pay unnessecary money on a deck that turns out to be less viable than sth similar. I should still have a few of the eldrazi cards in there. Would need the cavern and the hierarch for both decks, which is apparently a big chunk of the price.
Does it make sense to spend the extra 100$ for a Tier 1 deck? What's the chance, that the eldrazi deck gets hit by a major ban soon? I got a few of the spirits already. For the eldrazi it's basically just the displacers and 2 thought-knot. If I build the eldrazi deck i could get the spirits for like 50$ if i want sth different
If I try to stay with the colors, removal and manabase won't be the issue, as I can just reuse the cards for future decks.
I just started mtgo recently due to beeing interested in Magic for several years without any players nearby.
After playing the game exclusively in Standard I am considering to pick up an eternal format in order to keep my favorite deck for longer than a few months.
My prefered decks in Standard are bg Delirium and all kinds of control, leaning more towards wu but thats probably due to the available removal in the format. I had a lot of fun playing uw spirits as well.
My cardpool doesn't contain anything special, save for a few more expensive cards in EMN like Kalitas, lily and Archangel Avacyn.
I haven't decided on a favorite color yet. I am not willing to pay for the full goyf/Lily playset in order to play jund though and aggro is not really my style.
I will probably compete at a few tournaments as soon as i get used to the format and deck.
