Flavor is king! because spice is the spice of life! Wait... I got that wrong. Anywhooo...
The list itself is in progress but iv'e got a good sketch in my head. It's not going to be a powered fast cube, its more for a casual scotch fueled hangout. I have every book I can find, and I did every 'Rods, Staves, and wands' in tribute to the OG DMG. I am picking miscellaneous magic items to sprinkle in. Equipment i'm wary on because they emphasize creatures as the combatants and not you, the badass wizard. Doing the Kaldra stuff, if you quest for all the pieces you can summon a big dude, that's badass wizardry. But thats what the artifact section looks like.
Rest is thick tribal, probably enemy color synergies.
Green Elves (of course) and ramp
White Soldiers and anthem effects
Red Goblins and Dragons with Burn
Blue Wizards maybe illusions with draw/counters?
Black Zombies and ???
Trying to have cross over things in other colors
Wizards will be mostly blue with bleed in all colors (Magus of the everything)
White/Black Knight sub-theme, with at least 1 knight of each other color
Black/Green Lots of plant zombies i guess?, not sure how to bleed it
Green/Blue Morph, with a big morpher in the other colors
Blue/Red storm? Is there a storm card for green or white? Black is easy.
Red/White tokens, Goblin Soldiers for days... Black has that anti token sweeper, blue green not sure (green squirrels!)
Was toying with the idea of putting every Plainswalker w/o regard to color balance, and maybe all the spells that directly reference them. So there are Wizard creatures, Wizard allies (PW's), and your badass wizard self at the top of the food chain.
Also I really love the Lich card and wanted to build a cube around it.
Need more ideas, thanks for the response!
Building out a mid/large un-powered cube, trying to keep it thematic emphasizing the players roll as a 'Wizard'.
Putting in lots of books and flavorful trinkets for artifacts and stuff like that. What i need help with is there any 'obvious' ones I need to make sure to include? Things like Lich and Form of the Dragon that perfectly hit that flavor sweet spot?
